Brilliant result. Their second was a bit of a sucker punch but I had faith we could get something out of the game. Didn't expect such a quick turn around!

They did to us what we had done to many this year, took their chances, very clinical.

It's too early in the morning to discuss individual performances but I'm glad Simmo got a goal for his effort.

We need to sort out our left wing. EMC always has a spectacular in his locker and JDS's footwork is fantastic but over the game as a whole we are vulnerable there and it's quite easy for opponents to nullify the threat. The comparison with Tats & MVE is stark.

Even if he tends to blast his crosses to the other side of the pitch [how tall does he think Ellis Simms is?] Tats is now always posing a threat, getting a cross in. I don't think there was a cross from the left all game

Turns out I was wrong on this, he wasn't playing as a 10 anyway according to what Lampard said in the post match interview.

I've withdrawn my application for the vacant job at Middlesbrough.

I just think EMC overcomplicates his game when he could do worse than just beat his man and whip the ball in. He has a knack for tackling himself with step overs or taking too many touches.

Don't understand the negative comments on here for EMC. One of our best players.
A real threat.

Exactly. Sometimes it works alot and hes motm contender but when it doesn't ppl think he's been poor but the reality is he's a massive danger to opposition even when things are not firing on all cylinders

Yesterday he didn't get past his man much but he still has a good game imo

Him and JDS actually link up well. It's just different link uonto saka and mve and that's ok

Mehmeti from Bristol would be my guess. Rumours he turned down a new deal at the end of the summer window and his contract is up at the end of the year.

Mehmeti would be a class signing. One of a handful of Championship players I could see attracting Prem interest, especially at a knockdown price (or free in the summer.)

But not "always" caught out so much to stop us being 7 points clear at the top?

JDS is excellent.

My favourite thing about today is that I was sat with three delightful young men who were sharing magic mushrooms. One of them kept yelling about how he was leaving the country tomorrow, this is his final experience in the UK and he's so grateful to get to see a match at the CBS. When Torp scored, he started screaming THIS IS SUCH A POWERFUL MOMENT and I'M SO GRATEFUL TO BE ALIVE

Can someone please explain this

I don't think there's that much of a problem down either flank, just very different styles. We're set up to score goals, so sometimes a bit vulnerable at the back. Kitching had an off day...it happens

I have recently reached the conclusion that if closely marked, he lacks the speed over 5 - 6 yards which Tats (and also Wright) have to get away. The other clubs are not mugs, they will have done their homework. Blackburn let their guard slip, EMC put in two good crosses, but that was the exception.

Tats (and MVE) have responded to coaching and the crosses are coming in from the right in a way they were not under late-Robins. EMC made spectacular contributions as at Wrexham and Stoke because he has wonderful ball control, but is not doing the day-job - getting crosses in.

It's a speed over the ground thing, he seems unable to get away from his marker, or so it seems to me.

West Brom came with two up front and had a go, which took us a bit by suprise and fair play to them. However, it failed . It just shows the confidence and resilience in our squad.

Great great win, first half hard to watch as Johnstone down WBAs right was causing a lot of problems , and set up both goals, so what I really don’t understand is taking him off at HT.
Just seen their managers reasoning and unbelievably he said I thought I’d take him off to play a left footer there and see if it worked
It was working perfectly well.

another happy Saturday to enjoy

Strange sub for sure especially if it was not due to injury. Glad he didn’t sub Molumby at halftime.

Just seen the highlights, for the first, Kitch gives JDS little time to react to Johnson closing him down and turn onto his left foot, and he loses possession leading to the goal. I know we’re playing a certain way, but sometimes under the press, a clearance is the optimum choice

What helps Tats out is having MVE on the overlap rather than JDS. When we attack on the left, it’s EMC taking on someone whereas Tats will move the ball to his left foot and either cross it, or give it to MVE.

Often, Sakmoto doesn’t take on defenders but will hold the ball up before laying it off to MVE on the overlap.

JDS role is optimised for match control and keeping possession which is why he has much more touches than MVE but less attacking output.

The whole build up to it was just ponderous passing about at the back and we were well out of shape, it was a bit of a slip back to last season

There's a new fearlessness to Tats that I love. Not just how he openly takes the piss out of leftbacks, but to also see him not shying away from challenges, welcoming physicality to win fouls, sticking up for Grimes when that fucking clown was throwing a fit after being tackled? I love it

Did anyone see what happened with the off the ball incident when Tats was floored and got up clutching his neck.
It was just past the half way line in the first half but at the time my attention was on the action on the other wing.

Although I'm aware of him, can't really say I know too much about him, or paid him too much opinion. When Bristol play well its Twine who has always seemed their most influential player to me. Presumably he wouldn't come here to just sit on the bench, so who would he replace?

Mehmeti is much better than Twine. As for replacing, its a squad game, that's what we need now.

I appreciate its a squad game and that we need to strengthen, but whose starting position would he be challenging for? Is he a wide player or does he play more centrally?
