Fuck me they are the same thing.Yeah and Jack Rudoni told me he was rested and not injured.
I think its timing. He's either on the way up when he should be on the way down or on the way down when he should be on the way up
What is wrong with BTA always got a strap on it is he keith lemon in disguise?
Maybe they've misunderstood what the Brighton sausage fest is?Brighton
With Grimes it's that he sits far too deep and half the time may as well be classed as a CB. He needs to be 10-15 yards up the pitch and playing the ball forward more to really be dictating play. Not saying it's stats padding as he clearly has the ability to play passes and work in tight areas but he needs to be braver.Maybe it says more about me becoming a bit of a bore, but Grimes has fast become my one of my favourite players, completely dictates the game, and doesn't make me nervous like a lot of the rest of the team do in possession. Da Silva has been the suprise for me this pre season, all of a sudden I'm not worried about the left back decision as both left full backs (excluding Bidwell) are solid options.
I think we play better with one up top, BTA on his own up top seemed alright, if you give those chances to a clinical striker that game is a comfortable win for us today. BTAs best quality is his tireless chasing of the ball, it actually worked a lot today, if Haji just added that a bit more to his game, I'd be more than comfortable having Haji play up top alone as he's a much better finisher. Final note... Simms' goal papered over the cracks, his awkward attempt at trying to hold the ball up put us under pressure and immediately a goal, I actually feel sorry for him, just as he gets some confidence, he immediately finds a way to undo it
All in all, I feel similar to how I did against Betis, I'm happy with the patterns in play, the midfield looks strong, wingers and fullbacks cause problems but our defending and uncertainty on our strikers is why I think well struggle to push on from last season..as always, hope I'm wrong.
I agree.Think that game is the best representation so far of what we will look like this season:
- We look to dominate the ball against a team who is happy to counter attack
- Get the ball wide and swing crosses in
- Press well in patches but not for the full 90
- Get punished for stupid mistakes at the back

I disagree we play better with one up top. Certainly with the tactics we're using of getting the ball wide. None of the current strikers seems to be flourishing using it.
I'm not unhappy with pre-season, I just think we're capable of more.
I agree.
he forward play is so one dimensional. teams will quickly work out we only want to play down the wings and will set up to prevent that. We need to show a willingness for the wingers to come inside and shoot and the midfield to try and play a striker in through the middle. Otherwise we're just going to be predictable.
4 headed goals in a season is quite a lot… The average headed goals scored for a team throughout the season was 8.7 goals.Simms goal was simmsilar to his header @Sheff Wed away. I don't understand why he can't do simmsilar most matches.
I kinda thought that our one dimensional forward play last season was down to Lampard not having enough time to fully implement his methods
I’ll be disappointed in the coaching team if this is the only way we continue to attack all season

Which if true makes the tactics of getting wide and getting crosses in even weirder4 headed goals in a season is quite a lot… The average headed goals scored for a team throughout the season was 8.7 goals.
I’m reasonably certain that Simms 4 headed goals would be up there as one of the top headed goal scorers in the league. Personally I’ve found it difficult to find a neat list of this for individuals.
Then the problem is Lampard's tactics.Grimes plays exactly where Lampard wants him to play.
Then the problem is Lampard's tactics.
We scored two, should have had 5. There’s nothing wrong with the tactics. Come on then geniuses, what would you do differently?
So what? The Bundesliga doesn't start until he 22/23rd August, so we are 2 weeks ahead of St Pauli in terms of pre season.
German cup starts the week before. The Bundesliga doesn't start until he 22/23rd August, so we are 2 weeks ahead of St Pauli in terms of pre season.
Ok, a week behind then.German cup starts the week before.
Surely that's quite obvious?So what?
Again so what? Why do the likes of you have to be negative all of the time?Surely that's quite obvious? We are a week fitter and a week sharper, which helps bridge the gap in quality.
It's not negative, it's context.Again so what? Why do the likes of you have to be negative all of the time?
Me and my brother joked to each other after their second that the "f*cking Simms!" meme would pop-up. How in the hell that goal gets pinned on him when the pass to him was half baked to begin with, f*ck knows. Knives are out for him good and proper amongst us lot. It's a bit grim.
We definitely look too negative in midfield at times, especially when Grimes and Sheaf play together, they both want to do the same thing, sit deep and take the ball off the defence, and look for the pass into the striker/winger.With Grimes it's that he sits far too deep and half the time may as well be classed as a CB. He needs to be 10-15 yards up the pitch and playing the ball forward more to really be dictating play. Yeah, which makes it a sensible choice of opponent as during the regular season they'd be one or two steps up from us.Ok, a week behind then.
I agree. Just means you cant read too much into it either way.Yeah, which makes it a sensible choice of opponent as during the regular season they'd be one or two steps up from us.
Eccles is injured, there always has to be a boo boy so now it's SimmsMe and my brother joked to each other after their second that the "f*cking Simms!" meme would pop-up. Don't think anyone is reading too much into it to be fair. All these friendlies have confirmed to me is that we're a good Championship side with a few positions that need some strengthening and the same tactical strengths and weaknesses as last season.I agree. Just means you cant read too much into it either way.
It’s ridiculous.Strangely, it feels like a "must win" against Hull already, just to settle everyone.
