I don't think there is a conspiracy personally

If they really wanted a Man Utd vs Man City derby in the final they would've overturned out 90th min penalty

It wasn't a conspiracy. That's mad talk. The officials interpreted it correctly based on the guidelines that they were given.

This issue is examining stills like that to the nth degree. If you have to do that, then what you are looking for had no bearing on anything.

Such pedantry is not within the interests of the game.

It was a shit decision, but a shit decision on how to utilise technology.

It wasn't offside

If the line was drawn where it should be and always is, in front of the last defenders foot, it would have stood

The line was drawn over Wan Bissaka's foot intentionally to get the outcome wanted

We won that semi final i don't give a fuck

Look at the Lino, in perfect position and even leaning back slightly to check not offside. Why did they overrule the on pitch decision?
Fucking cheated out of it for sure.

O'Hare scooped the ball through to Haji, at what point is the pass complete? So many moving parts needed to be checked off before disallowing that goal. Forensically sifting through replays to look for a reason to not allow a goal seems way over the top. What happened that day goes against the spirit of football for me.

I know people say moving the offside threshold to 'daylight' between striker and defender would still cause arguments but for me it would be easier to take an error as the striker at that point has gained some sort of advantage. There is no way anyone can argue Haji gained any advantage standing almost still with a toe offside

Decision was made in less than a minute, usually takes between 3/5 minutes It was already decided we weren’t going to win.

Are you sure?? Felt more than a minute sitting in the stands, and considering loads of Man United fans left it had to be more than a minute.

We were celebrating for at least a minute before we even realised VAR were getting involved then there was at least a minute and half wait.

Urgh. The linesman is right in line with it and it was hardly obvious, so it shouldn't have even gone to VAR.

A referee who runs a physio in Manchester told me analysed this on the day what happened. When I visited him for physio and he saw my Coventry shorts shouted "Robbed, Robbed".

They blacked out Man United player boots and rotated the angle of the lines across pitch to make it appear offside. The changed angle of the advertising boards proved that .
His analysis was done six weeks before I met him.
Finally I met a Man United fan a few weeks back who was in line with incident told me he was embarrassed on what had happened and didn't celebrate the overall result. He is the only one who has shown any graciousness on what happened. On the day Man United fans were just horrible.

We won that match apart from the remaining few seconds. I tell every football supporter about this who cares to listen.

I always thought that a "clear and obvious mistake" had not been made, that's obvious from everything seen in the aftermath, so the on field decision should never have been overturned. Case closed. There's not even an argument to be had, it was the wrong decision.

There were Man Utd fans in the queue for the train station immediately after the game telling some Cov fans that we were robbed and it was an embarrassment etc.

Having said that going into the ground there were some right fucking Utd cunts, shouting in people’s faces, trying to get a reaction.
As with all fans/people…swings and roundabouts I guess.

For me the result is almost immaterial. It would’ve course been great to win but what an incredible day. The feeling when the 4th went in is something I don’t expect to ever experience again.

I came away with a sense of pride rather than disappointment.

Still furious about this horrible incorrect VAR decision. That off-side was 100% BS. We weren't off-side and if the line was drawn where it should be and always is, in front of the last defenders foot, it would've been prooven to be onside. This would've been the greatest game in our history since our 1987 FA Cup win.

Rankles that this is being dug up again to be honest. VAR offside calls should have an ‘umpire’s call’ built into them for when it’s too close to judge.

The beautiful game robbed of a beautiful moment by some twat in a studio overruling the officials in the ground. And for what, to keep ten Haag in a job a few months more?

I knew they would win that final the minute the game finished, the sort of luck that they get

Just like how they will be an utter disgrace in the Prem this season but will sneak into the UCL through the back door by winning the Europa League - After their 'miraculous' come back vs Lyon the other week after the Lyon player should never have been sent off

Interesting that last season was the first time the two same teams had contested the cup final in consecutive seasons and it was the Manchester Derby

Should never be drawing lines on the pitch on the replays anyway. If it's clear and obviously offside then yes otherwise you go with the refs original desicion

Some of the claims on here that it was a conspiracy, and "we won" are frankly embarrassing.

However.... it was a poor decision, and i certainly question whether it would even have been looked at down the other end.

I have never thought they cheated as such, they awarded a very dubious penalty for the last kick of the game which they couldve overruled.
I just think, as in a lot of other cases, they were Incompetent , draw the lines in the right place and at the exact right split second , he's onside
I am lucky enough to have seen 1987 but the feeling I got when Torp scored was the best feeling ever supporting Cov.
I have not and may never get over it

It wasn’t cheating. It was shit rules and shit officiating. It wasn’t obvious so shouldn’t have even gone to VAR, the line was badly drawn, and the rule itself doesn’t account for the limitations of the tech.

Tho i take all of your points every single goal goes to VAR. Once it does then the ref gives their decision.

They could still finish 17th this season. Now they have recruited some dross, but it’s appalling for a club that still spends big every year.

I think every goal in a game with VAR gets checked for offside as a matter of course.
