The difference between taking your chances and not. Been the same all season but its been a great season.

Defending for all 3 goals is shocking, yes we should take our chances but goalscoring it not our problem

Exactly, would have been a different game if we’d kept it 0-0 for a reasonable amount of time.

Moore should’ve done a lot better for the first. Hyam 100% to blame for the second, awful clearance then turned inside out.

I think we can all agree we make defensive blunder after blunder, because the goals we concede are generally very soft.

Not sure how scoring goals is not a problem though. Given the amount of domination and chances we create during any given game, the fact we failed to score yesterday in particular was a real problem in itself as presented. We were and are wasteful in the last third.

I counted about 25 crosses or through balls in the first half alone yesterday, we failed to score. Bournemouth went in at the break 2-0 up from about three of the same. We are nowhere near clinical enough.

Not convincing for the 3rd either but Bidwell gets dragged to the ball and Solanke wanders past

powder puff header from Hyam then as well Moore I don’t think could do anything with it but compared to the Gyokeres shot then their keeper made a good save.

The first was poor. No one in the back 3 seems to know who to pick up

Mcfazdean has been a big miss of late without him the back looks poor

Bournemouth have a good defensive line. We had 3 chances really all game. If they had 25 crosses we’d have conceded 8 goals

3rd goal great strike

3rd goal great strike

Why we insist on playing a back 3 with the players we have baffles me

Bidwell isn’t big enough and there’s no mobility

It was all odd. The Gyokeres header was with Bidwell playing LWB for a minute Kane was far too far up pitch early on

Their formation stifled is a lot. We had a big surge in play for 20 minutes but they as a team suited us a lot less than expansive teams like Fulham

We are in the play offs on goals scored, it is not a problem. We missed a couple of chances yesterday yes but they don't lose you games per se, conceding goals does

Shocking defending, that first goal would be embarrassing at schoolboy level, and another goal conceded with a simple header from 6 yards!!!

We failed to score yesterday, so it clearly is a problem somewhere.

With a good defence it is 0-0, I see your point, but I am not sure you can watch our games and claim we don´t waste a great deal of dangerous moments with poor decision making or shit final ball. It happened so many times yesterday. Many of the games we failed to win this season have also seen us be the better team for large chunks, and I personally think we can do a lot better in front of goal than we currently are.

Our goal scoring record is fine - you concede 3 goals at home you lose. The defence is sub standard

How many did we score yesterday Grendel?

You know, it can be the case that the defence needs to improve, but so does our ability to transform domination into goals.

We had a couple of half chances yesterday, but the bigger point was once they had a lead they could sit back and knock the ball around and we can’t break them down.

Maybe if we were more clinical we’d be top scorers instead of 4/5th highest or whatever, but we’d still have easily the worst defensive record in the top half and worse than the likes of Blackpool, Derby, and Hull.

Yes but if we draw 0-0 at home with Bournemouth, then that's actually a decent result....

Well on paper beforehand maybe, but games of football are not defined by that.

The fact is, we didn't draw 0-0. Our defence were shite (and also) we also wasted so much possession in their third of the pitch. If we had to defend for our lives all game and barely got the ball across the halfway line then maybe you could say that would have been a good result, but again, we dominated for large periods before the game was out of our reach. We did not use that domination effectively enough.

It has been the same script for 80% of our games this season. Even when we stuffed Sheffield United we should have scored way more.

The finishing by large has been poor this season but the defence is without a doubt our core issue. We still give away goals far too easily.

To put into perspective we're only 5 goals from last season's GA total with 3 league games still to play.

Granted injuries haven't helped, but regardless we haven't really made any significant improvements in this department in comparison to last year which has quite obviously seriously cost us.

You've said it yourself here - we barely had to do anything defensively and managed to mess it up almost every time!

There are 5 teams above us who we have scored more goals then. The 6th team above us (Huddersfield) have scored the same amount.

How many teams above us have conceded more goals than us?

It's pretty clear what the main issue is. There are many other indicators for this. Will Hyam and Rose be on many teams wish lists in the summer? Or will they be more likely to be looking at our attacking players?

On paper, we have scored enough goals to be in the playoffs. Yes it would be nice to be more ruthless though.

We all know our defence is too weak. I am not arguing that it isn't. Only some people will accept we are not clinical enough however, and I do not know why. Goals scored might be decent, but it should be a lot higher.

Attack can sometimes be the best form of defence. If you are battering a team all game and don't score, the other team are going to believe more and more and it increases the chances of a sucker punch. The attack have let us down a lot too and it has happened. How many times have we heard 'don´t take your chances, get punished´ this season for example? We often concede the first goal after waves and waves of domination which don't turn into anything. They then go down the other end whilst our defence are having a nap and score a goal out of nowhere. As I said, that has been the script in such a large amount of games this season.

If we want to improve our defence needs to get better, but we absolutely need to be more clinical too.
