Westwood saved the pen the year after, nearly identical circumstances. Eubanks-Blake had a last minute header against Schmeichel

may have blurred the results, but Schmeichel definitely pulled off a last minute save to keep the result as is

i get he was horrendous against Charlton, but he was generally decent, throughout his loan spell. If I recall he was actually the original target before Westwood, we were priced out by Man City

Must confess I don't recall that Schmeichel save but could be that I'm getting old

I don't think he was particularly inspiring at all in his time here but it was only 9 games as a 21 year old with very limited experience to be fair. That's not uncommon, particularly for keepers.
I'd certainly never have predicted him going on to be one of the best in the Premier League though, so fair play to him.

You are right, we were definitely interested in him permanently. Not sure if it was ever realistic or Ranson just being Ranson (as with Carroll, Henderson etc.)
As it was he didn't play anywhere the following season before dropping to League 2 & the farcical Sven/Notts County gig. Crazy career path!

Am I making things up or did we originally have Ben Foster lined up before it fell through after Tomas Kuszcak got injured?

Probably down to the fact of just one very good season out of three. The other two being mediocre. One of those even being downgraded to fucking woeful.

All 6 appearances.
As player/manager gave up his playing career, and then re-registered to play for Sunderland when we sacked him.
P.S. Knowing you, it was a tongue-in-cheek suggestion

My latest episode.

Again, imonly going for players I’ve seen play live. So 1987-2021.

I think this task is always a challenge as people will always wonder how certain players are left out!

Please watch if you have a spare 15 minutes. Then at least you can see my reasoning as to why Keane is 3, even though he was only with us for one season, and to how the hell Cyrille and McAllister aren’t in there! And Jenkinson’s Rumbleows Sprint challenge gets a mention!
Here is my list:

10 - Oggy
9 - Gynn
8 - Doyle
7 - Gallagher
6 - Dion
5 - Whelan
4 - Hucks
3 - Robbie
2 - Nuddy
1 - Speedo
