My latest episode.

Again, imonly going for players I’ve seen play live. So 1987-2021.

I think this task is always a challenge as people will always wonder how certain players are left out!

Please watch if you have a spare 15 minutes. Then at least you can see my reasoning as to why Keane is 3, even though he was only with us for one season, and to how the hell Cyrille and McAllister aren’t in there! And Jenkinson’s Rumbleows Sprint challenge gets a mention!
Here is my list:

10 - Oggy
9 - Gynn
8 - Doyle
7 - Gallagher
6 - Dion
5 - Whelan
4 - Hucks
3 - Robbie
2 - Nuddy
1 - Speedo

Broadly agree.

I'd swap Blyth for Oggy
McDonald for Pearce

Could go for the old favourites like Ian Gibson & Tommy Hutch but like the OP I’ll go back to 1987 we have Cyrille, Keane, McAllister, but top of the pile has to Peter Ndlovu I’ve always thought we missed a trick with him & never got the potential he could and should have given us. He was brilliant when on song first as a left winger then up front his hat-trick at Anfield was probably the best performance by a Cov player at an away game.

I'm astonished at the number of Pearce nominations. I thought he was decent for us but really only flourished under Clough after he'd left us.

Got to add, Kieran Westwood and Kasper Schmeichel. Two of the best goalkeepers we’ve had the pleasure to watch

No Cyrille and no Roland. You've some decent players in there, but you've missed out the best two I have watched in my lifetime.

Roland Nilsson was the classiest footballer I’ve ever seen for City. Just effortless. Keane and Dublin a level above as well. Other than that perm 7 from a bunch of attackers basically (Nuddy, Hucks, Whelan, Gally).

I'm suprised Steve Hunt hasn't appeared more often on here, and Terry Yorath,
(Although I'm going back a while)
But there's also Ian Wallace, Terry Gibson,
Stuart Robson, Jim Holton to name just a few.

Not having Kasper anywhere near Covs best XI!

He may have had an unbelivable career but the guy played 9 games for us as a kid, He really didnt pull up any trees whilst here, I mean his last match we got humpped 4-1 by Charlton

All I remember of him was having a monster throw, don’t recall being blown away generally.

Was a skinny kid when he played for us. Wasnt bad at all and could see promise but not really outstanding

If the question was who are the greatest players to have ever played for Cov then he'd be a shoe in I recon

Kasper pulling off that save against wolves to keep it 2-1 kept us up that season

my top 10 in no particular order
Roland Nilsson
Robbie Keane
Dion Dublin
Darren Huckerby
Chris Kirkland
Gary McCallister
Mustapha Hadji
George Boeteng
Marlon King (wasn’t here long but oozed class, shit bloke, class player)
Joe Cole - maybe more for his career, felt there was obvious ability there, the rest of the team weren’t on his wavelength barring Maddison and Armstrong.

honourable mention for Dennis Wise - could replace either of the bottom 2. Incredible for a 40 year old, still remember his bicycle kick against Hull

Most of my favourites been mentioned but I first watched in 1973. Tommy Hutchison would therefore be number one for me. The other pre 1987 player I would include would be Steve Hunt, while I always had a soft spot for Garry Thompson too.

Roland Nilsson

Steve Ogrizovic
Mustapha Hadji
Darren Huckerby

Just missing out;
Noel Whelan
Brian Borrows
Keiren Westwood
Brian Kilcline
Micky Doyle
Robbie Keane
George Boateng

Steve Hunt now goes by the name Steve Evans
Hopefully not in honour of the greatest manager of all time

Think Strachan should get a mention as his performances as a player by and large were outstanding given his age.

Blyth

Danny Thomas
Nillson
Gillespie
Froggatt

Strachan
Boateng
Hunt

Bennett
Dublin
Ndlovu

Not the most balanced formation but who cares!

As someone said above Strachan was elite class on the pitch - as a manager I personally blame him for relegation.

Subs: Borrows, Huckerby, Hedman, Wallace, Ferguson, Wise, McFadz (why not).

Fair point Alk given his career. But always going to be Blyth for me as our best keeper- probably a generational thing. Man Utd offered a world record fee for a goalie to buy Blyth before the move was scuppered by an injury.

Are you sure you're not blurring 2 separate events & thinking of the Westwood last minute penalty save the following year?
We drew 1-1 with Wolves in 2008, we dominated the game & should have won. Kasper made 1 decent save early in the 2nd half but we missed a hatful of chances to secure our survival.

Kasper was then utterly abysmal in the away game at Charlton, almost single handedly gifting them the win & but for Carlo Nash in Stoke's goal keeping Leicester at bay we would have been relegated.

Westwood saved the pen the year after, nearly identical circumstances. Eubanks-Blake had a last minute header against Schmeichel

may have blurred the results, but Schmeichel definitely pulled off a last minute save to keep the result as is

i get he was horrendous against Charlton, but he was generally decent, throughout his loan spell. If I recall he was actually the original target before Westwood, we were priced out by Man City
