To me there's just so many problems, the shape and shoehorning of players into roles that don't suit them is just one of many.

I mean the positive here is like the UK because everything is broken you only have to fix a bit to start making big improvements.

Start on the porous defence first. Decide what the best defence is and drill them in training to build positional understanding.

Collectively, spend extra time in training on advancing the ball in one or two touches per player, or by carrying the ball up the pitch. Saw it a few times today where we managed to do that, created an opening and then hesitated to allow them to get set once more.

The way out of this is to put extra hours in on the training ground fixing the most glaring problems. But we just sent them on holiday barely a month in to the season.

Thinking about this - It took a cock up from the Oxford defender for us to have that win

That result was deserved based on the performance. Though each game we've lost I think we've deserved to as well.

Its quite embarrassing really. Last season we recruited for lets call it Shape A but had to switch to Shape B as it turned out the players didn't actually work in Shape A at all. Now we've recruited for Shape B but may be better suited to Shape C. Shambles.

King’s not exactly shown he’s a dab hand in replacing key staff, be fascinating to see what avenue he’d go down

It was deserved but the result wasn’t due to brilliance from us. It came down to a cock up.

I’m absolutely concerned. I liked to give them the benefit of the doubt because I’d hope that Robins had a plan.

for the first time, I think Robins looks devoid of ideas. Saying effectively the players aren’t listening to him has alarm bells ringing. He doesn’t usually slam the players but he did today.

I can accept the early results grudgingly if we were showing signs of improvement. But apart from 45 mins at Watford and 45 mins against Oxford we’re getting worse

BTA caused us massive issues today, he was playing so narrow. Second goal doesn't happen if we have more presence on the right hand side. He's not a winger. Unless the bloke from Australia is any good we're short there again.

Which begs the question why we spent multi millions on two backup central strikers with other more pressing areas of need.

The shape matters, but no shape is going to succeed with players taking so long to advance the ball, giving away soft goals every week, and missing sitters at the other end.

They need to be putting in double time at the training ground to sort this out. Otherwise, we're the new Stoke on the block.

See DK getting stick for various things but don't get most of it. He's improving every part of the club and he has backed Robins with a lot of money for players. A lot of it was from Vik and Hamer but so what, most owners wouldn't give it all, he's given it all plus a decent wedge more.
This is on Robins and if you were King you'd be very twitchy about giving him more transfer funds atm wouldn't you?

Not if everyone is aware we're light in one area, required to keep the team ticking?

Second goal - Torp didn't get over...just ran in a straight line down the middle of the pitch leaving MVE two Vs one. Players were telling him to get over!

Not really his fault, he's working his backside off but it's not where he should be playing. But if we stick more centre forwards on to play down the middle, the only way to make that work is a 4-2-2-2 with wide attacking players.

Then you have to accommodate Rudoni, Sheaf, Eccles and Torp in a midfield pairing that will probably just get overwhelmed through the middle. So I really don't know what the answer is.

He's put the 35 points from a possible 81 as if that's tragic form ..it's mid table form over the last 27 league games it's 60 points in a season

And that's with your 1 in 12 that you keep bashing on about too , it's such selective stat picking

No away win since Easter.. so April which is a month before the season finishes he's a clown

Our problems in defence aren't selective though, the sample size isn't far off a whole calendar year and it's pretty damning reading.

Next international break is 7th to 13th October.

We play
Leeds (a)
Blackburn (h)
Sheff Wed (h)

got to be looking at a minimum 4 points from that. If not we could be looking for a new manager at that break. The 4 games after that are not kind
Preston (a)
QPR (a)
Luton (h)
Middlesbrough (a)

If we're honest it's been a mess for a good while.
Not sure what the best team is, chopping and changing continually, no flexibility on tactics, the basics just not there, motivation lacking.
Robins has to own most of that.
For now he has to try and shed his brooding negativity and try and positively motivate these players. Not sure that's him though.

Point is it’s been shit for a while. More than 5 games. Pretty much aside from when Saka Wright and Simms were playing together we were crap last season.

We’re five games in and not one part of the team is settled this season. We can’t keep throwing away the first 10-15 games a season and expecting to achieve our goals at the end of the day. Especially if we also add finishing shit like we did last year.

I think we'll be firmly entrenched in and around the relegation places come the end of those 7 games. Probably get 5 points from them.

How long is a while , up until leeds on april 6th our form was very good and we reached the fa cup semi final , we lost 5 of the last 6 in the league

Fans on here were very happy to downplay the end of season slump as having a small squad that struggled with the load ?

Our form was pretty good in the league until April 6th .
We then played 10 games in 34 days including the semi final

The selective stat picking is immense , from the 11th of November until the 6th of April we lost 5 league games in 24

Winning 13 drawing 6 losing 5

Despite that, we could have got something from the game - that is how fine the margins are between results in the championship. @Saddlebrains - get onto your man/woman;
I want to hear that Robins is extremely pissed off.
I want to hear that they are fuming with the officiating.
I want to hear that the players are embarrassed and desperate to put things right.

I might feel slightly better if there is this reaction rather than us just bending over to the opposition and officials!...
