Not going to repeat a lot of what’s been said, but the key thing for me I’ve realised after today is we have good squad depth BUT in random positions - we don’t have a full 22 of straight position swapping players.

You will if you have players like Latibeaudiere in your squad. Not strong enough

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"These are a good group of players we were up against, who are under achieving and are one of the top four or five strongest squads in the division. They've decided to turn it on. And that makes this a big point and an important point for us.

"I'm a Mark Robins fan and maybe I can't keep my mouth shut. But, if they'd run around like that the last 14 or 15 games, maybe somebody would have a job still. Maybe there's a new manager sat in the stand and they were trying to impress, but maybe they should have tried to impress Mark Robins a bit more.

"I've no complaints about the red card. I told the ref that at half-time. He had nowhere to go with it, if that's the way certain players want to behave – and we now lose a big player for three games,

"He tried to leave one on Anel early on and went over twice looking for penalties to try and con the referee. Anel should know better. He fell for the three-card trick but their player's gone down like he's been hit by Mike Tyson, holding his face when the contact was clearly around the neck."

Won't without regular starts that's for sure.

Depends on new managers formation I guess

Today showed pretty clearly why the league position is nowhere near that. Stupid goals conceded, attractive but indecisive attacking play and conceding vast swathes of space in midfield.

Not just goals but really soft goals. Really enjoyed the game today but this habit of conceding such soft goals is a continuing disaster

Think it's a bit more than that. I know some of the ITKs have alluded to how laid back he is.
I've argued with so many people about this but I've got to concede they may have a point.

Every time he sees to have turned a corner he takes a step backwards.

I really hope the new man can get the best out of him week in, week out.

Tbf it never helps that he is in and out of the side. We started to see the best of him the middle of last season when he was playing week in week out. He seems like the type of player who needs to play himself into form.

Really enjoyed the game today. Rhys Carr deserves some credit as they looked up for it and we dominated when 11v11 and unlucky to go behind twice (Sheff U clinical).

Bassett is top drawer and needs to start when fit. Love his aggression and ability to piss the opposition off (Vardy esq).

EMC looked good and Saka and Milan combined well too.

Thought he made a couple decent runs. I think he just need a goal and he’ll be grand.

Can’t believe what I’m reading here. We were all over them.It was a great performance .They are good defensively and parked the bus as soon as they went down to 10. We had enough chances on the 2nd half to win, Thomas Asante (twice), MVE hit the post and the Thomas header.

Yeah I’m disappointed we didn’t win. We looked decent today.

Thats all tactical though, not about the quality of the squad. We just don’t have anyone with an understanding of how to set up a defence or teach pass and move attacking patterns it seems.

I’m on a plane waiting to head home reading this and thinking about the match. That really was a cracking game of football - shitty weather, good atmosphere, proper ding-dong. Thought everyone stood up and played their part. Can point at our defence for their goals but they were also really, really good goals - sometimes you have to accept that and not blame anyone. Thought we were in for a CBS classic when we equalised but they killed the game. Still disappointed about Robins but optimistic for the future.

Today was very typical of our season so far, we played some great football, dominated for much of the game, but gifted the opposition 2 piss poor goals which cost us 2 points.

If we can sort our defence out we'll fly up this league.

I don’t think they were piss-poor goals. First one was a cracking ball to split the defence and a lovely finish (Thomas perhaps should have cut it out); the second (after we’d given the ball away admittedly) was again a very good assist and excellent finish. Both real moments of quality.

But as you correctly pointed out, both came from our own errors.

Dasilva got done like a kipper on the first, and Thomas was ball watching instead of getting ahead of his man to cut the cross out. (He had no idea where the scorer was)

The second goal came from us giving the ball away unnecessarily and then Collins took 15 minutes to get down to his left which was the only place the striker could score.
We literally have 3 keepers competing to be third choice.

There was a point where I thought that it just wasn’t going to drop for us and Sheff United were gonna manage that game to perfection but alas they leave Bobby completely free at a corner!

I’d have taken a point this morning so I’m not gonna grumble

Looking at the highlights on SkySports (I was not at the game). I feel Dasilva is getting some unfair treatment for the first goal (and no, I am not a Dasilva fan)

Why does Binks feel the need to come out to Hamer, when the CDM is on his shoulder? Hamer then plays the ball straight into the space vacated. Had he held his line with the rest of the defence, he could have cut out that option.

As for Bassette - there’s teams come up and play the dark arts to us all the time, so fuck em - It’s about time we had someone with a bit of a nasty streak in our side cause we haven’t since Michael Doyle

And as for Wilder and that lot bursting their spleens over it - They’ve had plenty of players like that over the years, Chris Morgan (who actually almost killed a fellow professional), McBurnie etc. as well as Neil Warnock in the dug out so they’d be lapping it up if Bassette played for them
