If you're after some constructive criticism, just a few points I would like to make:

"Coventry was founded as a Saxon village" - technically the founders of Coventry (and all of Mercia) were Anglians rather than Saxons

"And here's a fun fact: the elephants and phoenixes on the club's badge represent how Coventry survived and rebuilt after the Coventry Blitz in World War II." - Its only the Phoenix on the right-hand side that represents the rebuilding after the war. The bird on the left-hand side is an eagle. It was the symbol of the old Kingdom of Mercia. The two of them together is meant to represent the old city and the new. The elephant has been the symbol of the city since the 1300s and not related to the war.

I'm been picky here I know! However otherwise a good review

thanks Shep! I’ll have a wonder round for a pizza on Saturday the burritos in the north stand have replaced my love of pies and burgers in recent weeks! Nice to have something different on offer. Let me know if you track down the macaroni!

It's always odd to see people walking up to their seat with a full size box of pizza.

So it's worth deviating from my staple of pie/chips/curry sauce from the fish/chip kiosk (under 24/5 for those that dont know! - also do nuggets!) to sample a burrito then!?! (They did look good!)

I live such a sheltered life.. fish and chips?! Completely forgot about their existence. Never seen nuggets either yes, go for the burrito, tortillas included too! There’s even a guy in a chef’s outfit working in there!

What's an elephant got to do with being a walled city? Surely a giraffe would be more useful where high walls are concerned.

Got to say the beer and food outside the ground was actually really impressive when I was there over Xmas.

I never even think to look outside the ground, will give that a go too they’ve really upped their game in recent months. Must coincide with the insects departing

Like I said, my friend emerged with mac and cheese. Where he got it from is a mystery, although I doubt anyone is selling Mac and Cheese on the black market

A derived symbol used in Europe is the "elephant and castle": an elephant carrying a castle on its back, being used especially to symbolize strength. The symbol was used in Europe in classical antiquity and more recently has been used in England since the 13th century, and in Denmark since at least the 17th century.

Fair enough. My history guy (yes I do have a guy who does the history for me) is often really good and tries to find pieces of trivia for each club we visit. I will let him know

Tbh I’ve never seen pizza at a game before, it’s not something I’d associate with a football match but it seemed popular

After that horrific incident after the Man U v Arsenal game a few years back, I'm surprised our SAG haven't banned pizza...

I always thought that it was supposed to be a symbol of strength, ie with a castle on it's back, but not sure anyone knows for certain ?

I thought the elephant was related to St George as well.

The elephant is the mythical enemy of the dragon, they're meant to be locked in an eternal battle.

So the crest featured the elephant as a representative of St George who obviously slayed the dragon, but was from Coventry? Or was associated with Coventry?

St George was born in Turkey of middle eastern parentage, and is thought very unlikely to have ever visited England.
He was a Christian who fought for his religion, against his former Roman Emperor...cant remember which one.
He was made a saint for his courage in defence of his religion.
Pretty sure he's the patron saint of a few other (Christian ?) countries too.
