Back to the line up that won 4 in a row except for Grimes in place of Allen.

Touch wood Bidwell is OK to start.
It is going to be JDS, Bidwell is out a week for sure.

Hoping EMC is able to feature on the bench and maybe get 5 or 10 minutes game time.

These next 6 games are huge.
Good points haul and we'll be in a great place going in to the 3 games against top 4 sides.

3-1 City.

Tough one given the break they've had I think. Hearts says 2-1 win but I'm leaning towards a 1-1.

Got a sneaky feeling they may be targeting our left back, any team now just puts a bit of pace up front and just puts balls through or over the top, there’s so much room behind that high line and we haven’t got the legs, 3-1 cov

I’d like to see us match up man for man 4-2-3-1. Lati I’d drop, he’s had a tough time and take the pressure off. Grimes coming in will help us work as a 4 at the back allowing us to not panic from the back. Here’s how I’d go…

Dovin
Mve, Thomas, Binks, Bidwell(if fit)
Grimes, Eccles
Sakamoto, Rudoni, BTA
Simms

Eccles with the addition of Grimes would settle him. Bta not ideal on the wing but would suit the game style vs QPR. It’s a game where we need to minimise mistakes from the back. I’d be quick with the subs on Simms (Bassette) and Rudoni (Torp) if they’re not impacting. I’d like to see Rodrigues on as well he’s got something to show. Grimes sits deep, playing 5 at the back + him will most likely cut our forward pressure.

Tricky game. With Bidwell out were immediately exposed so I’d play one more game with 5 at the back to get jds further up the field. Cannot play him and Binks so I’d go with
Dovin
Ewijk. Lati Thomas Kitching. Jds
Allen Grimes Rudoni
Simms BTA

Think it’s best to stick with the five at the back until Wright or EMC is fit to start and Bidwell is back.

MvE Lats Thomas Kitching Dasilva
Torp Grimes Rudoni
Simms BTA

Significant that if Bidwell is out our thoughts regarding team selection are based around baby sitting JDS with him being such a weak defensive link.

If you look at how we play, we will 100% concede big chances against QPR. We have nearly every game we’ve played just had some unbelievable saves from Dovin. Got to have an emphasis on getting forward and converting our chances. 5-3-2 seems to leave us with no options moving the ball forward, we panic and reverts to long ball.

It'll be a tough close game, but I really do think we'll get a win......I'm saying 2-1

Dovin
MVE Lati Thomas Kitching Binks
Torp Grimes Rudoni
BTA Simms

With Bidwell is out, I'd prefer Binks to DaSilva

I would like us to go back to 4-3-3 but if Dasilva is left back that is a problem. 4-3-3 also allows us to play Van Ewijk and Sakamoto together who are both much more effective when the other is in the team. My choice of team would therefore be:
Dovin
Van Ewijk Thomas Kitching Burroughs
Eccles Torp Grimes
Sakamoto Simms Rudoni

However, I suspect the likely team will be:
Dovin
Latibeaudiere Thomas Kitching
Van Ewijk Torp Grimes Rudoni Dasilva
Asante Simms

I agree with this except Saka for BTA. He provides more control and width

Since playing 5-3-2, we’ve comfortably been the better team in terms of xG. In the league, the only exceptions being Norwich and Leeds and in both games, we should’ve scored more than we actually did.

Our home form has also been solid, I don’t know why there’s this moral panic because we decisively lost two games on the spin against top (Championship) quality opposition.

It's because the system that got us those 4 wins seems to have been found out. Granted that was by better teams than QPR, but make no mistake, QPR will have looked at our last 2 games and will likewise try to exploit our defence's high line and individual defensive weaknesses.

The introduction of Grimes of course should help mitigate that and provide a better screen for the defence, but ultimately once Sheaf, Wright and EMC are back its fairly clear that we will end up playing 4-3-3 anyway, so its only a matter of time.

I’d like to see us play 433

GK - Dovin
RB - van Ewijk
CB - Thomas
CB - Kitching
LB - Burroughs
CDM - Grimes
CM - Torp
CM - Rudoni
RW - Sakamoto
ST - Simms
LW - Rapha

Some very very questionable calls I know, but I think we need to go back to a 4 at the back with Thomas and Kitching as they are our best CBs, as Lati needs a rest and I just dont fancy Binks.
I think Tatsu works better as a winger with van Ewijk working behind him get this partnership back up and running.
Bidwell is out I’d rather not see Dasilva at LB in a 4, Burroughs has the physicality but does he have the quality god knows,
Torp and Rudoni have to start,
Grimes give him a go as that single pivot anchoring the midfield linking defence to midfield and offering defensive support,
Frank said himself Rapha is ready its about finding a way to give him a chance I think EMC will be back on the bench for this one so its now or never,
Simms up top for me give Asante a rest and add the fact he cant play as a lone striker especially in our system.

It hasn’t been found out. Leeds have scored 62 goals already, averaging 2 goals a game. They are just a class above the rest of the league. As for Ipswich, we played a weakened team so why anyone is shocked that we were outclassed is beyond me.

In both games we were chasing the game too which puts you in a position to concede more chances and goals. QPR don’t have that same quality and I don’t believe we should throw the baby out with the bath water.

I do agree that the end point will be 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 when we’re back to full strength.

That’s not a bad side, can’t see Burroughs being any worse than Da silva ? But think we go back to the 5 3 2

Not an easy game. But we need to get back in the saddle. A scuffed winner would do me, then build from there.

Definitely not a given, they are one of the form sides in the league, but hopefully we can get back to winning ways, especially as we are at home. Reckon the side will be;

Dovin
MvE
Lati
Thomas
Kitching
Dasilva
Grimes
Torp
Rudoni
BTA
Simms

Whilst Allen has performed admirably recently, I think we need to give Grimes a go, with a good excuse to rest Allen after two difficult matches. Think we need to accept that Dasilva will be starting if Bidwell is out, and BTA and Simms have been scoring whilst playing up front together but would like to see Bassette and Simms given a try at some point.

Think of if I wanted 4ATB without Bidwell I’d play Binks there.

Something like

Dovin
MvE Thomas Kitching Binks
Torp Grimes Allen
Saka Simms Rudoni

It won't be, but we're back to fixtures now where its reasonable to expect a win at home.

Leeds and Ipswich weren't in my opinion.
