I don't think Eccles was that bad.

Agree, much improved when compared to some of the performances in the season.

One of the through balls to EMC was top drawer.

First half was the best performance of the season - much quicker transition from defence to attack which previously had been very laboured. This was mainly, but not exclusively, down to Grimes. Rudoni continues to look so good and Simms scared them witless for the first hour

Three 'buts'

Eccles had a stinker and should have been replaced a lot earlier. We needed somebody to harry them harder - Allen is just the ticket for that role. My neighbour in block 19 met a Derby fan who described Frank as being great when things were going well but not very adaptable when they were not. Not replacing Eccles could be a possible example of this??

Poor service to EMC.

The central pair in the 4-3-3 were dangerously exposed quite frequently in the second half. Looked like their front man had his eyes on Kitching in particular

Anyone rating Eccles as a 5 in the ratings thread or saying he had a bad game today, should have a look at themselves as to why. We were very good first half, and he played his part. Has had a dip in form, but today he was good.

FFS Eccles did his job and had some great moments today.

This isn't a criticism of Grimes because he is a great player and what we need.

But seriously Eccles stole the highlights with his creative passing

Grimes is the missing link and the role that Sheaf couldn't cope with. Yes Sheaf is a great player and will be even better alongside Grimes

Why do always have to have a fall guy? Especially when we have produced one of the best performances of the season against a team who are well organised physical team. Every player provided moments where I was applauding like a performing seal.

Well the ghost finally being laid to rest. Glad that Monkey is now off our back. Bar the last 10 minutes it was men against boys-our best performance of the season. It was really a 2-1 hammering.

Thought he was the bollocks initially though when he tried to kick the leather off the ball and hit the bar from the first one

Just been watching the highlights, the Preston goalscorer was 2 yards offside when he shot. It wasn't even close and the linesman was in line. Crazy desicion to allow it

Was just reading the Australian cricket who scored a 120 not out today Josh Inglis is a Cov fan. He was born in the Uk and his dad was from Cov.

This place is unbelievable sometimes. Great performance, very good win yet some still seem to be looking for a player to berate.

Great team performance and every player played their part. EMC is getting back up.to speed. Didn't have the game we have got used to but Great cross for the goal. Eccles raced, harried and made himself a constant pain in the arse.

Anyone else?

Here’s the YouTube link for the highlights but on iFollow they showed replays of their goal and paused it when the pass was made. Keene was a full body length ahead of the defender.

I’ve had a chance to look at the replay now. I initially thought he might be ok. Hard to tell from the camera angle but I think just off. No way a body length or even close

Ref wasnt bad but he literally blew for everything which at times spoilt the game.
The lino on the main stand side second half was atrocious and half a sleep. He missed at least four clear off sides including their goal

He even played the advantage a couple of times when the advantage would have been giving a free kick in a dangerous position.
