A solid win that will give players belief they can do it. But, we tailed off badly and could easily have ended in a draw. First half was good but not brilliant as some were indicating on here. Second half we just did not put them to the sword. Rudoni MOTM. Grimes helf it together well without anything special. Hope Torp is fit next game. Sheaf is not ready and always slow at getting up to speed, so play him in the U21's for a game or two. Simms did everything but score. EMC not match fit yet. Another full week and maybe even Wright back on the bench at Oxford.

Performance wise it was much better. Score line doesnt reflect our dominance. One of these days we’re going to have a complete performance and give someone a real hiding.

So first of all, great to finally see us beat them especially after last year.

Outside of that good performance with the change back to the 4-3-3. Good to see what the plan looks like going back to normal with players returning.

Shame we didn’t score more but fair play to their keeper. March continues on

Thomas and Bidwell trying to track those runs in behind last 10 was terrifying. Had no idea where any of their forwards were

Did the goal credited to Thomas touch Simms on the way into the net ?

Still want to get adi and Robins back or will you consume the biggest slice of humble pie and accept Lampard was a great appointment?

I'm not sure, will need to see the replay. I know he was getting in the way of the keeper

That was a terrific performance, any suggestion to the contrary is nuts. The only negative that we didn't put it to bed earlier.

Don’t think so, looks like he went to flick it which just caused the keeper to hesitate. Didn’t look like to touched him

Smashed the Preston hoodoo just like he did the Swansea curse
Switched to 443 even though experts told us 532 is only formation that works. (After telling us for years 532 doesnt work)
Dominant performance to shut up fans that say we play shit but effective football under him

Simms had a quality game today. Massive headache for them and did alot of the boring work he sometimes wasn't getting involved earlier.

Just a shame he didn’t score as he absolutely deserved to.

Fookin brilliant performance. Those who didn't believe before today must have changed their minds. Yes they could easily have got a draw out of the game bit it could have easily been out of sight before then.

Preston may only have let 1 goal in from their last 4 games but we could have had 4 or more in the 1st half alone.

It wouldn't surprise me now if we challenge Sunderland for 4th place. Time to book our hotels for our Wembley win.

Great win, finally broke the Preston curse! I always thought if a season comes where we beat bogey teams, that will be the year we go up. Well that’s two we’ve beat!

Impressed we didn’t squander the lead after conceding too.

interestly, us, Blackburn and West Brom all play at 12.30 next Saturday. Blackburn have a tough game against Norwich and the baggies at Leeds

Keeper looked when he touched it to just take it away from home. A shame as wish he threw his body at it

There were several replays of it which showed it clearly was offside.

Not only was it a great result today but just seen the scum up the road have become the first team to lose 6 home games on the spin without scoring Ruud at the wheel
