That’s a harsh way of looking at it. When you’re playing teams towards the bottom, they’re going to stick 10 men behind the ball and try to stop you playing. We created a few moments where we probably needed to be braver with our passing/shooting.

We had two open headers in the box and failed to hit the target with either of them. Rudoni had 2 chances he should’ve done better with. If one of those 1st half chances goes in, it turns into a rout.

Well, not an overly convincing 90 mins of football. However, we've certainly played better and lost so we take the 3 points and move on. Not many positives to speak about bar the goal. Far too many silly, unforced errors, especially at the back from Kitching and Thomas. So many loose passes. A better team than Pompey make us pay. Moved the ball far too slowly at times and were almost predictable. Positives, EMC grew in to the game after a slow start and 2nd half looked back to his full potential. Josh Murphy will be having nightmares about MVE tonight. Had a torrid time marking him and couldn't get passed him on the attack. A clean sheet, 3 points and a wonder of a goal. #PUSB

Moment of the match, critical contribution if the match may be.

Man of the match, afraid not. What a trophy for him to have though. I doubt he was expecting many of those to come his way at this stage of his career - if any. He did seem genuinely thrilled with the goal. The award presentation was a bit fucked up which was a shame.

The injuries are really starting to stack up now which is a worry, especially as some are going to impact on next season as well.

If Sheaf was slow and laboured (he wasn’t), I wonder what that makes sloth Grimes…

Sheaf has always been the sitting midfielder for us, but with Grimes in there Sheaf was able to get forward more and it suited him.

Presumably that will be the midfield three for the remainder (fitness permitting!).

Pretty much my view. They have sussed EMC in particular, although he worked hard. He may be a 'flat track bully'.

Rudoni, Van Ewik and Kitching all played well. Kitching's passing is well above standard for a central defender. Pleased for Collins after Burnley.

But Grimes, Sheaf, wright and after a promising start Tats offered very little. Grimes in particular was totally anonymous just content to potter around. No conviction.

But this was a bang average game. I was quite bored for the most part. Both defenses looked wobbly so how it was still nil nil after 94 minutes escapes me. Teams like. Portsmouth should be being dealt with much more easily if we are to have pretensions

Sadly I think we have to right off Simms. Got it wrong. There is a good league 1 striker in there. Hasn't got the smarts

Incredible ending.

Cannot wait to watch all the fall out and celebrations today.

You can tell how much that meant to him - and everyone. Love seeing the team spirit, camaraderie and togetherness.

Side note; not advocating it, but has anyone seen any player booked for celebrating on the pitch despite being a sub at the time ie Palmer at Wolves.

Happens all the time, and it was great to see Sakamoto, Wright etc run over, but they weren’t penalised for it. Which is obviously good for us as fans, but shows what a stupid decision it was from a pedantic ref at Wolves.

The ref at wolves applied the rules. So can hardly call him stupid.

Add to that the clear handball which should have been a penalty. We changed things up by going route one which we don't normally do and it resulted in a goal.

Where would you rank that in the list of last minute winners this season ? For me it’s behind Stoke & Sheff Wed but above Luton, Oxford & QPR. Am I missing any ?

I liked the way Pompey set up. All behind the ball when out of possession but played with 6 or 7 attacking players really high up in possession. Very nearly worked for them.

Cardiff at home where we scored in the 88th minute.

This was probably the biggest. As good as the other last minute winners were, they’ve steadily increased in importance as we’ve marched up the table. Last night, this fixture was our ‘easiest’ home game and one we needed to take maximum points from to get back in the playoffs.

The reaction of their players said it all as well and it was like they’d conceded a last gasp goal in a cup final. In a similar vain, I haven’t seen our team celebrate a goal like that since Torp’s disallowed goal v Man U.

I'd put that above all of them given the stage of the season we're at and how vital those 2 points are.
The celebrations were wild.

You see I thought it was because he was in full kit and had not changed as like you say it’s so common I thought it had to be something else

In some ways that's a much better outcome than us just beating Portsmouth easily.

It just shows you can't expect any easy games come the end of the season and sometimes you just have to keep going for the entire 90 mins. It should really keep us focused. You need games like these.

The confidence must now be well up after such a stirring goal and it's yet another goal in the dying minutes, so that must have cemented it in the backs of players minds that it's not over until it's over.

We now will surely not go into the Hull game lightly. We saw just how organised Portsmouth were (they should be fine this season, because they looked a half decent outfit).

It was bloody tense and nerve-racking, but it some ways I think it played out perfectly.

Much rather we beat Pompey 1 nil in the last minute, than just have scored early and then just breezed through the rest of the game at a canter.

We now can't be over-confident after that. We know we have to be patient, work our socks off and grind out results when we need to.

Hull is going to be tough I feel. We really need to really be on our metal.

As we don't play until Monday night, we could well find ourselves outside the playoff places once again before we kick another ball in anger.

Be fabulous if, come the end of Saturday, we're still in the top 6.

Yes exactly, it's the championship, yes we huffed and puffed but Portsmouth offered nothing the second half. Like 2 years ago we played until the final whistle. It's all about the results this stage of the season

EMC gets a lot of stick in here, he was far better than Wright last night. I like Wright, he's great but i think people see what they want to see sometimes.
Paterson might actually need to start soon regardless with the games coming thick and fast. Could always hook him at half time if he's blowing.
