oldfiver just posted this - http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/coventry/coventry.html

It's interesting because you can see a list of ex players and their stats in one place to compare appearances.

The only thing is it is a list.

I could knock up a simple web version where you can sort players by year, appearances, name, position etc easy enough if anybody else wanted to volunteer to help populate it?

Wiki does have the info, but it means searching for each player to compare.

It's a better use of time than some of the unconstructive posts and it is actually ccfc related and interesting! I'm happy to spend a few hours inputting player info and I am sure it will be quite good for the older members memories to think of players who have been missed off!

I'll have a think tonight and sort something tomorrow night. At least we can learn things like Barry Quinn playing more games than Micky Quinn

It would be nice to have that if you have the time.
Fascinating list but would like a few sort options.
Quite a task to put it into a database though and the functionality will be an issue.

Should keep you off the board for a few days

Nah the web database and functionality would take a couple of hours.

Populating it might take a while but if anybody gets bored they are welcome to do a letter each

It's a good idea. Always good to look up old players and compare there stats.

Did you no for example Darius Henderson has a better goals per minute ratio than Marvin Sordell this season
Sordell 294 minutes per goal
Henderson 241 minutes per goal

That might be too precise, would have to know how many minutes off every game!

That's what transfermkt is good for. Really useful site.

Been looking through and Ryan Haynes has our best minutes per goals ratio so far.. 175 mins

Turned the list in OP into a Google Spreadsheet and added a couple of calculated columns like goals per appearance and appearances per season.

If SISU had any interest in the club they would be drawing on the skills of fans like Nick to turn the club around. Fair play.

Not sure I could do too much with that by making web apps, but thanks

Not sure I can, no. I can filter it, but the option disappears when I share it here.

I've made the link editable, feel free to take it off me and have a play.

Looks like it auto parses it

Can you put it onto a link where you select text, click the link button and do it there?

It's interesting that in your table Mick Hartford is No 2 in the goals to appearances ratio. ( who is number 1, I thought it would be him?). I think he came on as a sub against Newcastle for the last 15 mins, scored the winner, got injured and never played for us again.
A great idea I think. Interesting that Birmingham are our largest customer for player sales.
