Assuming Onyeka signs I’d drop Grimes but not change shape. Kamikaze seems to work at home against teams that aren’t Ipswich even if the football is a bit crap.

Rushworth
MvE Thomas Lats Dasilva
Onyeka Torp
Saka Rudoni EMC/Esse
Wright

Chuck some of our many wingers on and swap strikers at 60/70 mins like always.

With as little disrespect to a good and completely inoffensive club in Oxford intended as possible, if we cannot be winning this 2 or 3 without reply then we have no business even being in the Top 2

I would go as far as saying not just a win, but a statement win is required here

With our away form completely deserting us it heaps more pressure onto the home games. I expect a nervy one, but hopefully 3 points.
2-1

IF we lose this one. The atmosphere will turn toxic

Yep, must win this one

If we don't beat Oxford then we honestly don't deserve top 2 and can see the fans getting toxic

Over a year in charge and still only lost at home to Leeds, Burnley and Ipswich. As bad as the away form is, Oxford are not coming to the CBS and adding to that list.

We owe Oxford a smashing after gifting them a draw at the start of the season

We've now reached a fork in the road and in my opinion it can go either way dependent on the team's mentality and integration/performance of new signings.

Are we this season's Sunderland (18 points from the last 16 games) or Burnley (42 points)? Believe it or not, they were level after 30 games, both on 58 points.

Alternatively we could be this season's Sheff Utd and be somewhere in the middle (29 points from the last 16). Would that be enough or would we suffer their fate, finish 3rd and go on to lose out in the play offs? Incidentally, we ourselves achieved 28 points in those last 16 games.

Honestly think we'll win our next two home games. Still going to be tight though now till the end of the season.

Has there been any update on Mason-Clark's injury?

I had a terrible dream about the game last night. We were really awful and Oxford went 2 goals up.

We got one back with about 12 mins to go and then gave them a right battering, but couldn't force the equaliser. We lost 1-2 and were truly dreadful

After the game there was a stunned silence and when we all looked at the other scores and saw that both Boro and Hull had overtaken us, the reality sank in and everyone was just so down, with heads in hands and a few tears to boot

It actually made me wake up with a headache.

Anyway, I think to come away with points from this game we need this lineup.

That gives us a decent chance.

Personally I'd play Onyeka up front and Gary Breen at centre half

Perhaps a bit more positivity - sell out the game, get behind the team. They are down on their luck, need the fans to get them going again.

Going to be a tough game I think. They are desperate for points to pull clear of the bottom 3.

I don't think it's going to be easy. I think we will need to play well..

Rudoni to score along with Wright and Esse

Can't believe you're starting Grimes ahead of Onyeka.

Heads gone mate.

Lampard will have noticed that recently Grimes hasn't been the same player as he was in the 1st half of the season. If we do bring in Onyeka he will go into the side ASAP. He is on another level to the players we already have and is fit to start straight away. He wants to leave a decent Prem side so he can play games. He wouldn't be coming to us to sit on the bench.

Dropping him or resting him? It's clear he needs to be given a rest, even if that means a couple of early substitutions.

I think Lampard will play Onyeka alongside Grimes. I just can't see FL resting Grimes even if it's blatantly obvious to every man and his dog that Grimes is running on fumes and other midfielders have performed better than him recently.

******** WE REALLY MUST BEAT TEAMS LIKE OXFORD *******

(jk Oxford fans i know your "teams like oxford" thread- first two years after we came up from the championship there were plenty of "teams like coventry" on other forums too.

seriously though oxford have to play 2 away games this week: Sheff Utd midweek and then us will hopefully be tough on their squad and might help us win more of the 2nd balls which we didn't seem to manage against QPR

Onyeka is closer to the position Grimes plays than anyone else. Lampard didn't see Grimes and Sheaf in the same side as fitting the way we play.

Lose this one and then to the Smoggies a fortnight today and we would be 6 points off top!

Only if Boro win both of theirs.

Rushworth
MvE Thomas Wolfenden KKH
Eccles Torp Grimes
Sakamoto Simms EMC

Had Enough of this shit now. 433. I would drop more players but that is not realistic. Esse plays if EMC is injured, and I would be tempted to throw him in for Sakamoto anyway.
