He played left wing on Boxing day when EMC went off. Torp came on in the 10.

I totally agree.

We have had a number of players who weren’t particularly good until they had settled in and played for us for a while.

Gykores, Simms, Haji and EMC spring to mind immediately.

Tbf non of those were seasoned championship players when we signed them, BTA has had 2.5 seasons in the championship.

Drop Norman , bring in Simms. Bassette is supposed to be a goalscorer , he doesn't score goals. Nothing against him but he needs time to learn and currently whilst pressurising the opposition frequently is regularly offside and misses too many easy chances. Great bench option IMO after 70 mins. Get Kitching starting .

BTA should be nothing better than 4th choice across the front line. Get rid asap . Terrible signing

I'm convinced Norman's inclusion is Lampard sending a message to Simms.
Seeing Jimmy87s comments on another thread I think the message is sinking in.
Wouldn't be surprised to see him start tomorrow

You reckon in the position we were in when Lampard came in he had time to 'include Norman to send Simms a message'?

As to tomorrow change as little as possible from the Plymouth game.

If he wants a certainn level of work rate from his centre forward and he wasnt seeing it in Simms then yes.

And as little changes as possible, great on theory, but it's our third game in 8 days so there may be a nessecity to make some

Tbf the way you said it implies he's only picking Bassette to send a message to Simms, rather than playing Bassette because he feels he contributes more to how he wants the team to play.

He does have another striker who works hard, but hasn't played him at all upfront.

Which probably explains why that other striker is at best 4th choice

Sounds silly as it’s so early into his time here, but does BTA come into this squad outside of cameo wing appearances.

Might be worth us trying to move him on, assume quite a few clubs would take the punt considering his WBA form.

Looks like another bumper crowd, that will be two in a row against the mighty Plymouth and Millwall. We are not exactly firing either. Imagine a sizzling City team in the Prem….we would need a bigger stadium

Just seems so weird. Can believe Robins wanted him as otherwise have no idea why we would compete to sign him with other championship teams.

I hope it works out, but if there is a offer in January for a perm or loan I would take it

Can't see us winning tomorrow if EMC is not available. I think everything going forward recently has gone through him, one way or another. Without EMC or Wright I think we're going to miss that cutting edge at the top.

Must admit my thoughts too.
BTA was excellent at the Baggies but it just hasn’t clicked here for some reason but I think he’ll do an EMC. Certainly hope so .

EMC has been the big difference since Lampard took over. and he must take credit But EMC was already doing his stuff on the left wing in the second half of the Derby game, so under Robins.

In the first half against Plymouth about 70% of the game seemed to be in the left attacking quarter. The risk today is that without him we revert to last stage Robins, so the task for Lampard is to keep the energy levels up and (at the risk of repeating myself) get more out of Tats / MVE.

Torp for EMC, Rudoni on the wing. At least this time Bidwell will be there in case Rudi thinks of a stupid back pass. I prefer Simms as a rule, but can see why Stormin' Norman should get the nod

On the BTA debate. We appear to have paid a lot for someone who is at best a squad player

Just had a look at the weather forecast for today and the next couple of away days. I'm missing Cardiff, but going to Norwich..
For those travelling to Cardiff (looks horrible conditions) - not likely to be 'pretty' football!
