It was interesting that we have changed how we build from the back already, at the start we seemed to make the 3 at the back in the build up phase the 2 cbs and the lb where as now it looks like the lb advances further and Sheaf drops back at lot to back the 3 in the initial build up before stepping forward once we are moving forward with the ball.

It's interesting and with time and more training could be great.

I have wondered is Sheaf only dropping so deep because our CBs are limited on the ball?
Wonder if Lampard is looking to bring in a CB who's a bit better in possesion and would Sheaf carry on dropping so deep if he did?

Erm, at least you spotted it. Scummy Millwall fan. It’s still a problem in society.

Added.
Just wondering? What’s the difference between our fans abusing Cardiff/Swansea fans and that posted by the Millwall fan?

I’m pretty sure there is a difference but it’s still pretty shit.

No issues at all other than finishing higher every season than the season before until King took over. Now the emphasis is getting rid of the older, experienced players to be replaced by younger players that can be sold for a profit. The problem is without the experienced players the younger players look worse and now won't be gaining in value. Even Sheaf and MVE don't look as good.

An OG by King.

Depends how you frame it.

So far under him we have had playoff final and fa cup semi after all

Also sold players for big fees and spent alot on squad rebuilding.

I honestly wouldn't know, you need to quote the posts.
You've posted on this thread where you said people have made a big deal of it, and they clearly haven't.

I personally couldnt care as long as the managers OK with it, which he must be.

Nah, it's part of the 3-2-5 shape he is trying for, helps you try and play through the press if the other team actually tries to press

Exactly my point but vice versa you dickhead.

Many anti king say last season was great and robins didn't deserve sack

Me personally I have never said last season was bad. So judge me on only what I say

So I should judge you for calling me a dickhead for having a difference of opinion?

You said Robins should go because we had a poor season. But King is good because we had a good season?

Appreciate the observations (as someone forced to watch on shit Follow). Think the system FL is developing is much better in terms of solidity but lacking in terms of dynamism in the middle. Everything goes down the side and even then down the left, as Tats and MVE seem to be struggling to interconnect like they did before. Simms should defintely have been on sooner as he offered a more direct option to hit and turn their midfeild (encouraging ours get further up).

the only times we troubled them were when we played quickly, you have to move around a lot when you are playing against a well organised side. I expect Cardiff and Norwich are going to present a different challenge. We‘ll get more opportunities to counter attack, but it will be a proper test for the defence.

I think he only drops deep when we can’t get him on the ball higher up. It’s really hard to find a defender who can play and defend at our level. Calum Doyle can do it, but I can’t think of many others.

Can he? Hold his own? He’s a very different player to O’Hare abd were still missing things O’Hare Hamer and Palmer gave us.

O'Hare is playing in a top two side this year and according to transfer market
O'Hare is 2, 4, 2
Rudoni is 3, 6, 2
And for me Rudoni has played for us; AM, WL, WR, Box to Box, FB...
He is an upgrade and smashes O'Hare as a player. One transfer we have got right regarding an upgrade.

Millwall fan’s view. Stupid prat walked from the station.

My 1st visit to the Ricoh/Coventry building society/shit hole in the Midlands ground. Last time was Highfield Road.

We decided to walk the 3 and a half fkin miles from Cov station and by god that 'City' is a shithole. Hardly saw any white folk until we were near to the ground, mosque to the left mosque to the right, with the odd curry house and dodgy Asian supermarket to brighten up our walk.

The city centre was like a scene from Zombie apocalypse.

Their ground is the nicest thing in the whole city.

A good crowd was there though and when they did sing it was quite impressive, but most of the time it was like a morgue in there.

Highlight of the day was at half time when I went for a smoke outside, there was only 10 metres or so between us and them, so the abuse started flying and a few plastic bottles and coins were lobbed over the fences. One Wall fella decided that was enough, jumped over our fence and proceeded to pull their fence down and wade it to some of the mouthy coventry lot. A medal is deserved.

The match was pretty shit, but we clung on and got a boring point.

Just back and realised I'm pretty pissed..

I love you Gumbo.

Got some stick for this when I posted it in the first half.

You can think I’m making a dig all you like, but the requirement from King was an ‘Elite Tactician’ and I honestly didn’t see that yesterday.

What did we change? Like for like subs? Arguably too late as well.

Genuinely disappointing.

Way too simplistic. Imagine he through Raphael on and we lost on the counter. Maybe the elite tactics were to take the point and move on because the real improvements will be long term?

Maybe.

No offence, but that’s nonsense.

More realistically, he/his team just didn’t know what to do to break them down, so we didn’t.

Did we try and change anything? Genuine question. It was obvious to the whole ground they were well organised and the tactics/set up were getting us nowhere.

I highly doubt he wanted a draw at home against a team without a manager. Especially as they were offering very little attacking threat. And off the back of a good result on Boxing Day so a chance to build momentum.

One goal would have destroyed their game plan, forced them to come out and left more space for us to exploit.

We have had games like this all season?

So if robins and now lampard have found the same issue maybe it's not a quick fix with a sub or formation change?

He has been here just over a month. It's ridiculous how some fans want win after win to show it's working.

What happened in previous games is moot, we have a different manager now as MR was deemed not good enough. The new manager should be bringing positive change.

The change in manager to one who is an elite coach/tactician, should surely be able to deal with a pretty generic team playing a low block no?

If we didn’t win yesterday, but at least tried to adapt that’s positive. Yesterday could have been a stubborn MR in the dug out refusing to change things. Surely the point of a new manager is to be different to the one sacked.

You were there yesterday right? What did we change? How did we respond to the increasing inevitability we weren’t breaking them down?

I’m not expecting us to win every game and I’m certainly not anti Lampard. I want him to succeed and from what I’ve heard he’s liked by the players, and he’s clearly determined to succeed.

I also fully appreciate change takes time and he’s inherited a squad that isn’t his. But yesterday was underwhelming.

You don't think there has been positive change?

We have moved up the table. Scored goals and stopped conceding so many

But because we didn't break Millwall down it must mean the manager doesn't know tactics?

I suppose pep is shit because city poor rub has gone on so long now?

Positive change = I was responding to your specific point re we’ve had previous games like this.

Yep, I think yesterday was a poor tactical display from FL and his team. As I asked before - you were there, talk me through how we adapted? If you think that equates to me saying he doesn’t know tactics, then pigeon hole me as anti Frank.

I genuinely don’t care about Pep or what any other team is doing.

I don't know what you want me to say. These things happen. Sometimes you persist with plan a and you end up scoring late on and sometimes you don't. It's not always a case of change the formation midgame.

Every team has these games. Even your Madrid's and Liverpool's

Both wing backs started to play further and further forward
You would have thought a change to going long and play Asante off simms potentially
To be fair milwall centre halfs were excellent in the air
To say we didn’t adapt is wrong though

We should have taken Bassette off at HT, he’s useless against a low block, doesn’t have the technical ability or the ability to be a battering ram. Rudoni on the left just didn’t work. The midfield was non existent. He keeps making the same subs regardless of game state. Simms for twenty mins BTA for ten on the left. You aren’t going to break a team down playing like that with patient passing in a U, the only times we looked dangerous were when players departed from the game plan and went long.
