3rd?

When Robins actually gave him consistent starts last season he was prolific.

Well this season all 3 managers / interim coaches whatever , have not given ellis consistent time .

What's wrong with that statement ?

Joint 2nd lowest xG of the season there. Only Burnley away was lower, same as Leeds away.

Will say as a negative I don’t think Torp suited the 10 today. Struggled to play in the half space.

Wish Lampard had started Rudoni as the 10 and put on BTA

I don’t think we have a player audacious enough to score a goal such as Simms’ against Huddersfield last season. We need him in the team. 19 goals and suddenly out of favour against someone who runs and has no footballing brain.

To be fair he scored 13 in the league and has only ever scored in I believe 10 or 11 league matches for us

Simms was no better, despite coming on against a tiring defence as we were pushing for a breakthrough.

We lacked creativity today, Sakamoto was poor, he just stopped and played the ball backwards too many times rather than looking to get past the fullback or whip a cross in.

Rudoni had a decent game, but we missed the trickery of EMC that might of unlocked Millwall.

Eccles Torp and Sheaf were too safe in possession and lacked the drive to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

Millwall looked like they came to frustrate and take a point, and we didn't have the knowhow to combat that.

And didn’t it show! We knew from the moment that O’Hare left that this would be the case with this midfield-slow,ponderous and weak.
All to similar and nobody to drive us forward or counter on the break.

Have you seen O'HARE's assist for the Sheffield United goal today.

If only we had a player like that, oh wait , we did.

Shove your numbers. He’ll get us more points than Bassette. Mark my words, Bassette ends up on loan at mid table L1 at best. He’s miles away from what we need.

Good point today and you’ll take the clean sheet but we moved the ball too slowly and in the wide channels, struggled to take on players. Rudoni and Bidwell linked up decent at times. As for Bassette, he needs a rest because he’s not really impacting the last last few games in a meaningful fashion.

I thought Simms should have started today.

Partly because Bassette is not used to this intensity of football and playing so many games in a short space of time and was due a rest.

But also he was always going to struggle on his own up against two big lads in Tanganga and Wallace.

Simms' physicality definitely unsettled them more.

Like this season, spent a lot of games getting bit part minutes and when we actually back him to lead the line, his goal scoring record spoke for itself. This season under Lampard, we’ll get plenty of good balls in the box which favours Simms > Bassette and BTA yet we choose to bring Simms on whilst simultaneously taking the wingers off. That doesn’t make sense to me.

This season, he’d have a good game and found himself being rotated. It’s not just him either, the same was true with both Bassette and BTA in Robins tenure.

Lampard needs to start backing Simms because we’re getting plenty of good balls in the box with EMC and Sakamoto in the team.

A lot of people are cottoning on that Bassette just isn’t at the level required yet. Gyokeres even struggled to break into our dross relegation survival season team with Biamou upfront.

Bassette has a lot of brilliant raw attributes but he isn’t impacting games and in key moments, comes up short (Pompey, Boro & Swansea). It feels like we’re rushing him when there’s no need to - there’s 2 experienced championship strikers in the squad!

Yes, Simms has to start now. With Emc out I’d be tempted to go with Simms and Bassette up front with a diamond from back to front behind them of Sheaf, Eccles, Rudoni and Torp. Switch back to 3 once either wright or Emc are fit again.

I don’t think he’s a very good footballer. But he can score a goal. His all round play is fairly terrible. Depends what you want.

What’s the point in bringing up a stat of the games he’s scored in? It seems pretty flawed to me. I’ll use Gyokeres as an example:

In 22/23, Vik only scored in 18 league games and I believe most were against lower table teams. In 21/22, he scored in 15 league games. Which brings Vik’s record to 33 games scored in 91 starts or 36 in 110 games if we include his loan spell with us. Does that mean Vik wasn’t as good as we think?

Even McNulty only scored in 18 games in the League 2 days, this is a normal ratio for a top end striker in a league campaign.

Being in and out of the team isn’t good for any player and that lack of consistency for Simms isn’t good. He struggled to get going last season but when he did, he didn’t look back and just needed to backed this season imo. To back to Vik, he had a 10 game drought in 22/23 and a longer drought the season before. It happens to all strikers and this season, they’re all struggling because they’re all getting chopped and changed too often.

But again we are talking 10/11 games in 66 appearances in the league
In 80% of his appearances he's not scoring a goal
What am I to say about this it's dogshit for what we paid he can't play anywhere else can he ?? He's a striker that doesn't score often
