If the club don't know what to do with Collins or Simms it suggests they think both are shite, they could probably start by not playing them every game if thats the case.

You could play Paterson LW and play Wright up front. Not saying I would and depends on Paterson but we do have options

Let’s get him in the shop window then. Then maybe someone like Wrexham will sign him

The telegraph has reported that he’s not 100%. There was a discussion on CWR where it was noted Wilson doesn’t take part in the warm ups. This suggests he’s not quite right to play…

Then you have the ITKs who say he is fit and ready to play and even that he himself expected to play.

It’s all a bit strange.

Think back to the game Dovin got injured, Wilson was warming up first and vigorously

Lampard then speaks to Jones and Collins warms up and gets changed and Wilson sat back down

Lampard called it at the time, and he's stuck by it

I'm leaning towards that. Or Sakamoto out left and Eccles out right. Think it's important to keep Rudoni central.

Collins v Wilson is the debate with no end.

The contract extension needs explaining. All I can think of is Wilson being sorted out with a living because of his chummy existence at the club. Any of them being no.2 next season will be shite.

Twist my arm I’d pick Wilson. But it’s like choosing between Anne Widdecombe and Susan Boyle.

I have no problem with the Collins v Wilson debate and believe there should be no 'arm in it.

Unfortunately, that's the bloody problem, a lack of decent arms.

Yup. Maybe he's going to really surprise everyone and play the U21's.

Actually being serious for a sec, it could feasibly be that we are so many players missing, FL doesn't want it leaking out how badly we have been hit.

Wilson being injured so badly he hasn’t been able to play for months makes no sense when he’s been on the bench all that time. What happens if he needs to come on? We’re not talking one or two games where he might not have been 100%

Plus we’ve been here before. It took a long time before Lampard dropped Collins last time round. There was weeks of people on here saying he should never be seen in a Cov shirt again and it got to the point where other teams were taking the piss because we were still picking him. Guy became a literal meme.

Not to mention when Dovin got injured Wilson was clearly getting ready to come on and then someone changed their mind.

Whole situation is weird as fuck. If Wilson is either long term injured or not good enough to get on at this point why have we given him a new contract???

Or Bobby, MVE & EMC are all back and they are working on a new line-up which involves those 3 forming our attack!!

Luton were doninant most of the game. Wilson had a very solid line in front of him and a one-man machine up top who you could pump the ball up to. It was perfect for Wilson and anyone else who may have played that season.

This is true - and this makes the situation all the more baffling. I still cannot fathom why we gave Wilson a new contract. Is there a potential buyer for either Collins/Wilson?!

It’s a real shame Collins made the mistake against Luton because he put in a MOTM performance up until that moment which ultimately, undone all the hard work and cost us the game.

Even if we beat Boro, there is that uncertainty over the GK position going into the playoffs which is not good! The position has also been moved from the lowest priority to one of the highest after Dovin’s injury too.

Brad Collins, playing like he is now, even behind that defence, doesn't win golden gloves.

He's far worse than Wilson, and that's not an endorsement of Wilson.

I think people need to grasp that under this new setup a new contract isn’t a reward for good performance or an indicator of being in the managers plans, it’s a decision taken on a spreadsheet to maximise the potential value of the squad.

Probably not because Wilson was on a crest of a wave. He, like many, had the season of their career. Many overachieved because of the good job Robins/Adi did and the benefit of having the two best players in the division.

Wilson coming in for a one off game would require a serious set of bollocks. Maybe he has them thanks to his previous play off experience?

Perhaps. But to a new chairman looking at the books it might not seem that way at first. He’s only had us selling players, he’s yet to be stuck with Marcus Hilsner sat on his arse for three years.

He really is, his career tells you the story, not one season. Also just watching him with your eyes. If he was anything other than a very poor keeper there would be a load of clubs thinking oh Coventry have a golden glove winner they are not playing who we could pick up for fuck all, but they aren't, no one is interested. On top of that he's also just signed a contract to see out his career basically as a third choice, he doesn't even back himself.
Disagree mate. He's been second choice for most of his career, stepped up one season and won golden glove. Hasn't been bad when he has played this season. He's signed a contract for a reason, maybe to be 3rd or 2nd choice but we can also get a fee for him. Collins is an awful keeper, Wilson isn't.

I would add that the reasoning for continuing Collins under scrutiny from pundits, other pros in the game and from fans also needs to be explained by Lampard.

I tweeted CWR last week asking them to ask the question post game, instead of Clive's usual drivel, but alas nothing.

I don’t think Lampard has much of a say on player contracts. I reckon Doug has someone working with him in a sort of director of football role assigning contracts based on maintaining the balance sheet and obtaining future fees.

Wilson is definitely not a good keeper, I was there at Cardiff when he just dived out of the way of the ball, but Collins is completely gone mentally and when a keeper has the jitters they need taking out of the firing line.

Lampard will have a say over signings and contracts.

I’m certain Robins would have let Bidwell go on a free and Lampard has chosen to keep him because he was playing well for us then.

As for Wilson, my assumption was that he was favoured over Collins and extending his contract made some sense if that assumption was correct. It wasn’t.

I do think our fans do assign more blame onto Collins for each goal we concede (he has not been solely responsible) but the underlying stats don’t lie. It was a big call to play him v Luton and for 89 minutes, it looked like the correct call but the mistake at the end me

If Lampard plays Collins v Boro and a mistake he makes costs us a playoff spot, he will have to address exactly why he continued playing Collins.

Not true, Robins had no say over Godden did he? Seem to recall someone saying he wanted to let him go on a free. We ended up getting a small fee so it was good business.

Regardless, it seems like Bidwells contract extension was triggered due to him hitting certain targets (assuming games played) so Robins wouldn't have had a choice, like Lampard hasn't.

mboro have to have a go so can see it being similar to the Sunderland and West Brom games, we’ll have all the ball just need to take out chances when we get them and we’ll get plenty, simns hasn’t been great but we should stick with what’s worked at home,
