Don’t think we have a choice, I would return to 4-2-3-1 simply to get our 2 best players in their favoured positions.

It hardly matters though if the keeper or a cb are going to drop more clangers. Feel for Robins

Agreed I’d go to that formation again too.

Yeah, in theory this formation should allow for Torp playing more through balls for the strikers.

I just can't see the formation change, even if it makes sense for the team as an attacking force.

I think we'll stick with the 3 at the back and Lati as part of the 3.

Dovin
Lati, Thomas, Binks
MVE, Rudoni, Sheaf, DaSilva
Torp
BTA Wright

Torp being behind the 2 strikers is what I'd like to see, but I can imagine Robins will have him further back next to Sheaf.

GK - Dovin
RB - van Ewijk
CB - Thomas
CB - Lati
LB - Dasilva
CDM - Sheaf
CM - Torp
CM - Rudoni
RW - Sakamoto
ST - Bassette
LW - Wright

I think we need to press from the front a lot more this game as they’re not a footballing side and will be more likely to fuck up under pressure. Could be the game to play 2 8s in Torp and Rudi to advance the ball and dictate possession.
Lati and Thomas have been the least shite CBs recently so they should start and are both aggressive but not stupid, Bidwell not ready which I worry about Dasilva for this game purely because he may get bullied (although has played well recently).
Sakamoto will win quite a few free kicks just have to protect him and potentially get BTA or EMC on at the hour mark to make sure no damage is done, Bassette can dish out a bit of feist and get a couple niggles on their defence to piss them off and hopefully wind them up enough to get them booked and win a few free kicks.
This is not the game to hoof it or hit the byline to cross into the box, this is a game for wide play cutting in and dictated by the midfield win that battle they’ll have to resort to lumping it which I’d back Bobby to win the aerial duels and Sheaf to sweep up

One of the few ways we try to create chances is endlessly passing it wide to then cross it in. This is one game where that will be especially futile.

Agreed this is the game to work it inside and carve them open with quick movement and attacks like the goal we scored against QPR, a quick break with most players bombing forward overloading

This team doesn’t do comebacks and it doesn’t do holding onto leads much better either. First goal so important.

5-2-3 in possession, 5-4-1 out of it to give midfield a chance.

Torp

BTA

If we concede first remove one of the defenders and go 4-3-3.

Seems a bit defensive in possession and makes it hard for the midfield to link with the strikers. Should it be more a 3-4-3?

Dovin
MVE Thomas Lati Dasilva
Sheaf
Tatsu Torp Rudoni
Bassette Wright

Not as crackpot as it looks, as I have Wright roaming left and centre, with Rudoni tucking in behind Torp tactically.

Bassette can run his arse off and press for an hour and make way for BTA. Tatsu and MVE linking up down the right, MVE overlapping where possible.

If I were a football manager nerd, which I’m not, I’d try this set up in the hope it would allow Rudoni to get more involved, Torp to be looking for those killer passes to Wright, Tatsu to be working his magic on the right.

We have to be bold and play these players to their strengths as much as possible.

I think your initial assessment will prove to be correct. Think they'll be up there at the end, play off shake up minimum.

We do have the personnel to play with the diamond but Robins will stick with 3-5-2 for a while now I think just to try and grind out some results

We can’t play Wright through the middle v these he will get bullied and end up hiding. He has to play wide

I’d rather him strafe wide and centre, to keep them guessing - if Torp was to play more advanced, he could try and get Wright in behind them.

I do fear though, we’ll stick to the same personnel and formation, in which case we’d have to hit them on the counter regularly.

I feel tomorrow is make or break MR, with the investment this squads had it just cannot continue like it has. I’m in the camp that we need a change, we cannot ignore the slow starts anymore and the money spent on players that simply aren’t going to take us to the next level. Do I trust MR next season to recruit well and get off to a flying start? No

I think the last few years we’ve got lucky with signing two unbelievable players, who let’s be honest kept us in the division. You cant keep picking out gems like we had for a million quid here and there, your luck runs out. It wasn't long ago we had Waghorn and Walker up top for us, more expensive signings that didn’t work out.

Couldn't disagree more with your statement that tomorrow is make or break for Robins. He should he given at least until after the January window.
