The lineup will hint a few things…

Injuries - if Wright, EMC, Sheaf and Rudoni have knocks/injuries they’re out.

Radar players - Simms not getting competitive start for so long. Bassette if he’s off he won’t feature.

Can possibly choose the squad from who’s not there?

Rushworth
KKH, Thomas, Kitching, Bidwell
Torp, Grimes, Allen
Sakamoto, BTA, Brau

saka and brau being pulled for Raphael and Haji and Allen for Andrews. Seems a very Lampard route.

How far in advance are they printed?

Must be difficult to know the starting line-up when they're putting it together.

I'm guessing it's expected to be a lower turnout and sales, so don't waste one of the regular first teamers on the cover.

That may be quite accurate given EMC is 'nursing a groin strain', Rudoni 'recently had a calf strain' according to AT and Bidwell is definitely being regarded as a fall back CB this season.

Happy with that. Chance to see Brau in his natural position. Simms's last chance? Surely he has a point to prove. We might finally get to run the rule over Rapha. Got a feeling with his build and pace, he could be a CF down the line.

Wouldn't say not having Rudoni in the lineup is a sign of injury. Why play him in a fairly meaningless game? I'd play Andrews, Raphael, etc.

He isn't injured but hew has a calf strain last week so he will perhaps be on the bench but won't be risked unless we need a goal in the last 20 mins.

FL has been speaking about him in more positive terms lately, so this is a good opportunity to give him 45+ minutes. He's the only proper cover/competition we have for Saka, so it would be great for us if he can prove he's good enough to step up to that role.

It could potentially save us a transfer fee, which can then be put towards a CF or CB.

Luton are still pretty much the standard of a poor Championship team so it'll be a good test for some players. Don't think we should go full B team but i would like to see Rapha and Brau get starts in their preferred positions. Maybe a last chance saloon for Simms too?

Agreed that it should be somewhere in between a B team and full strength. Ultimately, it is useful to have this competition to get the team up to scratch, which was lacking on Saturday.
