Not sure if it it's been mentioned on here but the Coventry City Ladies team are one win away from becoming the champions of the Southern Premier division. They need to beat Pompey away tomorrow to clinch the title,so what a great boost to our city that would be,and a change from having to read about all the goings on with SISU etc.

I'll be going to Portsmouth to watch them win the title (hopefully). I saw them beat Pompey 4-0 in the home fixture earlier this month and then they beat league leaders Gillingham 3-0 away last Sunday. The quality of the Ladies football has been excellent all year and they thoroughly deserve this title, they are unbeaten for 14 games in the League since October 2013.

If anyone fancies a trip to the South Coast tomorrow, our Ladies will really appreciate your support: Furze Lane, University of Portsmouth, Langstone Campus, Southsea, PO4 8LW. Live coverage of the game is available online from 1.45pm (k/o 2pm) at http://mixlr.com/southcoastsportsradio--2/ PUSB

Well done Coventry City Ladies.

Open top bus parade round the streets of Coventry? Better still, an open, topless bus parade.

A brilliant 'awayday' for the small but happy band of supporters that have just returned from Portsmouth. A tense game in which Coventry Ladies had to defend an early goal from determined Pompey pressure but Natasha Lynch and her team showed true championship mettle to win both the game and the League title. Great credit to Craig Nicholls and all the backroom staff and management. It's been a pleasure and a priviledge to support the Ladies this season.

does this mean promotion to the Super League? or is that a closed shop!

It's a 'closed shop' unfortunately, at least for the next few years. WSL1 and 2 are effectively franchise-based operations - noting your location, you're probably aware of what happened with Lincoln Ladies / Notts County - so CCFC Ladies have achieved their pinnacle for the time being.
