This'll be my first game of the season, FGR have been my local (and until recently non league side) for 30 years. I thought id have a mild tug of war of emotions about what result i want... but Nah lets smash em

we really have to pull up our socks and start imposing ourselves convincingly on teams.
FGR are in dire form and are ripe for a pumping. Heart says it could be the day we convert all those chances but head knows its one of those fixtures where next days headlines are about new lows.

On another boring note, anyone know if Christ the Kings still does (cheaper) matchday parking? Fook paying £10.20p (20p?!?! arseholes) if not where is reasonable. i dont mind a walk

Hopeful Kelly will play so I'd play..
---------------Burge----------------
Grimmer--Willis --McDonald--Stokes
---Vincenti--Doyle--Kelly--Jones---
---------Biamou----Nazon---------

Today's u23 game may give some clues to the bench tomorrow night.

would prefer this to the Kelly/Doyle midfield partnership, too alike for me and neither overly creative..

Exactly the same as that, but with more strikers, so Thomas, Beavon and Pontichelli too, leaving a side with Jones, Nazon, McNulty, Biamou, Thomas, Beavon and Pontichelli all included.

We will still won't score though because there's no-one to set up the chances.

Id switch up the front 4, maybe bench jones, with a view to bringing him on later so he can have a run at a few tired legs for the last 25 mins? Would be a very bold move but imagine a triple sub on the hour mark of jones, beavon and ponti haha

Like nick mentioned earlier try vincente in a more central role.

I think they'll set up to defend and frustrate us, so a change in shape could help give us a new dimension.

They will park the bus, We desperately need to score early, their defence looks dodgy as hell, looking at their goals conceded vs Newport they really struggled against good decent delivery into the box was shocking defending.

Grimmer Willis Rod Stokes

Doyle

McNulty. Vincenti/ Kelly. Jones

Biamou. Nazon

Definitely need to be more attacking , We need to pick up the scraps in box , if Kelly is fit he needs to play with license to get up and support strikers.

McNulty and Jones to provide the width.

We will need to be patient but we need to try to start much better.

Shackles off....Comfortable win. 4-1 (finally win our first penalty in the league this season)

I've a bad feeling about the next 3 games unless Robins changes the defensive mindset. He's already said FGR will park the bus but unless he allows the midfield to be more adventurous I can see us only taking 4 points from the next 9 and dropping out the play off places.
Would have liked us to go 3-5-2 as i don't think Jones would need to do much defensive work against FGR with Kelly and Doyle sitting deeper but Haynes played today for the U23s (and scored from left of a midfield 4):
--------------Burge-------------
Willis - McDonald - Stokes
--------- Kelly - Doyle-------------
Jones----Vincenti------Haynes
--------Biamou-McNulty----------

So I guess it will be 4-4-2 again. Just hope whatever decision Robins make is brave and we're on it from the off - a match where we're looking to win rather than looking to not lose in the first half. This team owes us a 5-0 romp.

Forest Green to bring 4,000, City to win 5-4, with Jim Blyth saving a last minute penalty to earn the win (flashbacks affecting my judgment!)

It was the 27th - we drew at the Vile on Boxing Day: two games in 24 hours - those were the days; mind you, that might explain some of the defending in the Norwich game...

It WAS Boxing Day.

In our hearts and minds at least. It's become urban legend, so yep, it was Boxing Day.

Just the same as Rick said 'Play it again Sam!'

Tricky. Tuesday evening. League Two. Hardly glamarous opposition. Few travelling fans. Champions League on TV. Rain forecast. Ticket offer for friends of season ticket holders. £24-26 pay on the gate. Barnet Sky fixture still fresh in the mind. Number in ground likely to be a lot less than reported attendance. Still 6,000-7,000. One team who could still do something in this league, but who flatter to deceive and unfortunately also struggle to score, against one very poor team who struggle to score but who frighteningly have a modicum of recent away form. 0-0, 1-0, 0-1, 1-1, 2-0, 2-1, 1-2, 3-0, 3-1, 3-2.

Well I hope Robins does the right thing and takes DKE out of the team, he hasn't set the world alight with recent performances, Haynes would be a better prospect playing in front of Stokes although that was tried last season and failed, Vincenti has to start and decisions have to be made up front, could be Biamous last chance starting if he fails to find the net again and Beavon is a better prospect than Stevenson even if its not his usual position, definitely need a win so lets hope the JD is flowing tonight (jones and duck)

Haynes played left wing yesterday. Think that could be encouraging and something I'd try on sat but won't be able to tonight.

I think maybe MR has lost sight of the start of the season. Beav, mcnulty, vincenti all played every game and without impressing they got injured and despite being fit haven't come back in. Vincenti scored and got 2 assists in a row, back fit and nowhere to be seen. Beavon had his best appearance against crewe and not seen since and mcnulty was signed as the striker to get us promotion, missed some shockers against Chesterfield and was publicly backed by manager and players to be the man to bang the goals in yet hardly featured since his injury. For me we need to go back to the start. Mcnulty has to play, he's proven he can score and he has, despite people saying otherwise, been unlucky. Those couple of shots at Chesterfield which their keeper somehow tipped onto the bar for example. He has to start and he will score eventually. I'd take dev out because, well it's blatantly obvious why and put vincenti in. He wins the headers and flicks biamou does and mcnulty, jones and duck feed off them. When Haynes is back fit he starts, simple as. All you have to do is remember the league 2 efl games last season he scored what, 3-4? Ripped wycombe away a new one.

Oh and dropping dev, biamou doesn't mean they are being written off. But they played because of a potential forward crisis (as did duck) and now it's time for them to step out again

It's not fair! Tried to get my dad in as a mascot and was politely refused. Only 78. Think this is discrimination of the highest order. He was looking forward to walking out hand in hand with Doyle.....

There's an unofficial parking place on matchdays on part of the Coventry Trailer Hire site which you access from the first roundabout on Judds Lane at the northend of the Ricoh as you're heading to offical car parks A/B. I parked there for the Blackburn cup game. They charge £5 and have a large handwritten sign. It's closer to the Ricoh than Wheelwright Lane or even car park C, but you might get muddy shoes!

Really getting excited about this game now.

As good as the defence has been this season. A part of me would like to see a goal fest and 4-3 win.

I thought a few weeks ago that we are soon gonna hammer someone. Hasn’t transpired yet......

But the sensible side knows I would rip your hand off for a boring 1 nil.

Strikers need confidence that only comes from goals.
