Reda Johnson has set himself the target of playing in every game for the remainder of Coventry City’s season. The injury-prone Sky Blues defender made his long-awaited return to the side at Yeovil on Saturday when he continued his impressive record in a City shirt, helping the team to a point and clean sheet.

So far this season the 26-year-old summer signing has helped collect 24 points from his 14 League One showings, being on the losing side just once when he’s completed the 90 minutes which was on his debut on the opening game of the season when he scored two goals in the 3-2 defeat at Bradford.

The only other league defeat he was involved in was when he was sent off early at Scunthorpe in September after City had taken a 16th-minute lead, playing his part in the downfall as the Iron took advantage against ten men.
Disappointingly, the Benin international has missed 13 league encounters through injury, suspension and duty for his country.

But after his latest come-back to action, he vowed: “I would like to play all the games from now until the end of the season. I want to be fit and when I am fit I am always playing and always take points.
“Some people have told me I am the talisman and people were saying the same thing when I was at Sheffield Wednesday, so it has kept going here at Coventry.

Injuries meant he was a source of frustration at his previous club where he made just 75 league appearances in three-and-a-half seasons at Hillsborough, 24 being the most in a season, coming in his first full campaign.
His latest lay-off was due to a tear to his groin and hip flexor which kept him out for six games.

“The problem is you can’t rush back after that type of injury because if you do you risk getting injured again,” he said.

“Usually when you get injured you stay with the physio and have ten days with the fitness coach but I didn’t have that choice.

“They asked me to play and I played and I did what I could for the team and we kept a clean sheet.

“It was hard and I was blowing after 45 minutes but I came through OK.”

He'll be injured next week.

Or, he will get sent off for headbutting someone.

Trouble is as much as he is injury prone and a liability his record in the team speaks for itself. We actually win when he plays. He is also our top goal scorer I believe so what I'm saying he we need to sign him up for next season as he is proved to be successful for us just a nut case. His record can't be argued with.

Another none story. This again is just normal business.
Every player wants to be playing every game.
Get off your arses CET and get details of how our management are going to get us out of this nightmare.
Why are we not signing players ?
Why are we continuing the JR ?
What are we doing with Wasps to secure the incomes from football ?
What plans do the club have to get fans back ?

Well that lasted long, presuming that he's now injured again?

Sounded like he told Pressley he wasn't fit to come back out for the second half. Pressley didn't sound too happy about it. He probably felt the cold or something

Christ, he's a knob, isn't he? Pressley should have bombed him out of the club when he said he was going to. How he saw fit to appoint such a selfish, unprofessional player as captain is mind-boggling.

The guy sounds like a massive drama queen and trouble maker. The sooner we get rid the better.

We looked a much better team with him on the pitch. Wish people would stop jumping all over him without knowing facts. We are seriously the world's shittest fans. People were writing off our new loan signings during the week. 2 best players on the pitch.

He deserves the flak. He's got ability, but his attitude stinks. Look at his interview about the post-Worcester debacle for an example.

Sadly he strikes me as a player who is in the game to pick up a decent wage.

what other career could he do earning £thousands every week and only turning up half the time?

The only decent thing Reda has done whilst here, was to have Pressley up the dressing room wall by his throat.

The facts are......we started with a 4 3 2 1 with a diamond in the top third. We only looked a better first half side with him only because of the change in tactics from SP in the second half that made us look more defensive. The change in tactics wasn't just because "sick-note" felt poorly at half time, it was also to do with giving Ryan Haines a free running roll on the left to put the crosses over for the now two man attack of Samuel and Franck N and that didn't work because of the way Rochdale played us. For me, Reda (sick-note) Johnson is not a team player. I wonder what George Curtis would make of his aches and pains.........GET RID......WASTE OF WAGES.

True but I think what made us crap in the second half was a change in tactics

Sadly, with the way our club has been run for a while now, the only players with 'proven' ability that we seem able to attract are those that have either attitude problems or a dodgy injury history. Hands up, I don't know all the facts about Reda, but he seems to fit in both categories at the moment. Our only hope of getting a half decent team together seems to be through having a decent coach and a policy of recruiting lower league players with hunger/potential. coupled with academy kids (where good enough) and youngsters from higher clubs (preferably permanent rather than these 3 month bundles). Forget the older, towards the end of their career types imho (unless its a keeper)

Oh you moaners are boring. Fuck off and support wasps

Red a is one of our best players and 100% on pitch.

If he's injury prone he's injury prone, but don't chat shit about how we don't need.him and he's just.picking up a wage

He did very little in the first half and won't string two games together before crying off. Should not be part of Pressley's plans. Tripped over his wallet at half time, no doubt.

I do like Reda and think he is a good player and even pops up with a few but have to admit, his injury record is a joke and his wage would be better used on someone else (oh yeah no it won't its pressley )

Another intelligent post from cc4l.
100% on the pitch you say........that would would be a bonus. He's a waste of wages. Try to think rationally for a change.

When he's actually out on the pitch he's one of the most committed players out there.

Johnson is just another in the club's long and sorry history of signing crocks and old knackers. They are all a waste of time and wages. To have a half-decent player crying off all the time is a constant disruption to the team and manager, they are not worth the bother.

What did he do today? Burnt his mouth on his half time cuppa was my guess.
