Why was Kitching watching the ball bounce towards our goal and doing nothing?

Should’ve just cleared it.

Collins wasn’t great but Kitching created danger out of nothing.

He was moving (correctly) into a position to head it back. When he got there Collin’s was out of position (and his area) Kitching had no chance to react differently. I’m not a Collins hater but this one was all his.

Kitching literally had the ball the whole time, could have cleared it.

He tries to shield it back, realises it doesn't have the legs and then goes for a header as Collins is about to deal with it

Not even close to what happened. Kitching had plenty of time & legs . He even had time to look back and be sure he had enough time and space. When he looked back to head it Collin’s was in his face. 100% Collins’ mistake.

Watch it again. It’s a simple head back to the keeper….if Collins stays in his fucking box.

Bizarre decision to come out when it’s literally head height for Kitching ready to do what happens very often in a game, head back to keepers hands.

Gave Kitching no time to react, albeit he did react badly but it is completely down to the piss poor decision making of Collins.

This is true and I’m not defending Collins here at all. Kitching certainly could have hoofed the ball away and he didn’t.

Don’t get me wrong, Collins has to either stay in his box or be willing to hoof it straight away and did neither. It was hopeless goalkeeping… It’s also true that Kitching could’ve smashed the ball into the stands if there was any confusion caused.

When the team reviews the footage, they won’t be saying it’s 100% Collins fault because it’s not.

We’re not too far away from being a top championship team, but we really need to stop conceding poor goals. It happened against Leeds too.

He could learn quite a lot from Alessia Russo in terms of being effective upfront.

I’m sorry but Kitching definitely could’ve done better. He had no idea where Anthony was because if he did, Kitch doesn’t move out of the way and probably wallops the ball out. If we’re being hyper critical, MVE doesn’t block his man either - this buys an extra second or two for the GK/Kitch.

Whenever we concede a goal, there’s this annoying insistence that there must be a nominated scapegoat who owns all the blame.

Collins doesn’t give me any confidence and his shortcomings have been done to death. The coaching team will definitely be looking at areas where Kitch and MVE could’ve done better as well.

If he (Kitching) did that when he had the chance the fans would have rightly questioned why he panicked when he could have just headed back to Collins. Collins took the decision away from him.

He looked behind him to check Anthony’s position just before Collins charged him. He was clear snd had time and space if Collins had hung back.
The only blame I hang on Kitching is the soft shot that went through his legs.

Summed up the submission of our supporters when they started cucking for Dabo.

One good season, the rest shite. Stole the winning penalty away from other team mates which then cost us a place in the Premier League.

Might as well invite Bellamy next year.

I was thinking more about 1 minute after half time than during. Dabo should get a cheer.

If collins stays in his box we don't concede the goal, some gymnastics going on to try and defend him here.

Kitching should not have put any trust in the keeper and just dealt with it, kitching ends up leaving the ball and it kind of just hits collins legs and ends up with an open goal for the burnley player

Now I've calmed down, we need to do some big investments in summer,

We need a new left back , goalkeeper, cm, we may even need a new center back for some experience, but our main weakness in this team is 100% the left side, how many goals do we concede from there? Whether it be bidwell being too narrow or da Silva being too high, they're just not good enough for this league in a promotion chasing side.

You can go back & forth over who is at fault for the 2nd goal but it’s clear Collins makes the defence nervous. Big call for lamps on Wednesday on who to go with now as I assume he prefers Collins over Wilson as he is better with his feet and helps with the build up but a keepers most important job is to stop goals for me.

My biggest take away from yesterday was how average that Burnley team looked in comparison to Leeds & Sheff Utd. I left those games thinking their was a clear gulf in class between us, but as frustrated as I was with the result yesterday (defensive errors & a Burnley fan referring the game) I wouldn’t be be so sure they are a shoe in to win the play offs if they end up in 3rd spot.

So turns out Burnley haven't kept loads of clean sheets by suddenly becoming peak AC Milan, they've been complete cheating shithouses all along! Hardly a surprise is it.
Scruffy little club, will end up stuck back at this level at some point.

Wow... Didn't get to watch the game yesterday after watching the highlights I'm wondering if we wanted to wrap the game up with a little bow on top for them cause what a fucking gift... I have Collins at fault for both goals, piss poor decision making similar to what was costing us earlier on in the season. Beyond that it looks a pretty even game.

Yes I did watch. And I saw he’s not great with the ball at his feet. Last week at Bramall Ln he didn’t want the ball, quite the same yesterday.

Kitching was in control of the situation, there is absolutely no need for the keeper to come out here. He should be dropping and making an angle for kitching to make a pass

He does have pressure, his own goalkeeper closing down his space like a maniac.

100% I don’t rate Collins as much as the next fan and he shouldn’t have come racing out. It was Kitchings to deal with. Bang it into row Z or whatever, it’s his to deal with.

I’m afraid it’s down to communication-if Collins shouts “clear” it’s leathered into the stand by Kitching and the danger is gone. What the he’ll is he doing out that far anyway?
Look at the first goal and Collins goes for a walk about then aswell-thought he was off to talk to the assistant!

Sorry that is on Collins. He’s facing the play also.

he kills kitching.

1st goal also Collins decision making is horrific.

he’s shot to pieces. Can’t play him

I'm not sure.

From Kitchings point of view an aimless ball goes over his shoulder, chases back, not under huge pressure he's probably gonna do just that. Then he sees his GK coming and he probably thinks "oh jolly nice, I can nod it back to him, what a lovely fellow" but the goalie doesn't stop, he is now out of his area and Kitching is thinking "well where the fuck do I go now and what do I do?".

Big focus on the 2nd goal but Grimes should be slaughtered for his part in 1st goal. He's not the superstar he thinks he is.

People keep saying Dabo cost us a place in the Premier League. Even if he had scored, it's quite feasible that the next person to have stepped up would have missed.

I agree it muddies the water and with Collins coming it, it confuses kitch but in the first part of this, it’s kitchings to deal with. Collins shouldn’t have ran out but if kitch smashes that into the stands or something, it’s dealt with.
