If we lose it'll be 1-0, its Burnley. But i actually fancy us for a goal, we're good going forward at home. Will say 1-1.

It would be good to be competitive for a start.

I get that Leeds & Blades are better than us but we were also rans in both fixtures.

You worry if they get the first goal though... but all clubs in this division would too!

Really fancy us to sneak this 1.0/2.1. Strong at home.

Think Sheaf could be key, id be telling him to get out there and play like a captain, IF he can recapture that form, then that should help defence again with the screen.

Rudoni > Torp
Kitching > Binks
JDS > Bidwell (Think bidwell only played because LK dropped out).
Want more form EMC both ways.

GK - well it will be Collins I think - BUT WE MUST JUST SUPPORT WHOEVER.

We have lost to one of the best teams in the league and suddenly people are shitting the bed and wanting to rip everything up. It seems odd to me.

Why against one of the best defensive teams would you bring in Sheaf, which would only us more defensive? Who are you dropping for him? Burnley don't concede goals much, so our attacking game needs to be on if we are going to get anything out of it. What you are saying makes zero sense, especially as the player has been useless all season and shouldn't be anywhere near the starting line up. The need to rip things up and use him as a comfort blanket after one unfortunate, but unsurprising result is really strange.

Don't agree.
I'd go 5 at the back and try and keep it tight, if we get a point I'd be happy with that.
Burnley are one of 3 teams in the league who are well ahead of the rest and we're not ready to go toe to toe with them yet as Friday and the Leeds game proved.

I think it's different. Leeds and Sheffield United are free scoring teams that took us apart. Burnley are a brick wall who nick 1-0 when it suits them.

Our best team plays the way like it did against Sunderland. If you want to go for a 0-0 then I get it, but at some point we also have to play to our strengths. I would personally be trying to go on the front foot rather than waiting for them to inevitably score against our stand-in goalkeeper and questionable defence. It is going to happen regardless of how we set up, so we might as well have a go. If we get the first goal, they open up. If they get it, it is game over.

Like the look of this line up although I would have Grimes in for Sheaf , Simms could be key in this game.

Don't under estimate how good Burnley are going forward. They're very handy on the break. They just seem content to let teams come on to them then hit them.

I get the get on the front foot argument but I just don't think we're at the level required to tear in to these.
That goes for neatly every team in the championship

I understand where you are coming from, I just know how crap we are at the back. If we try to sacrifice an attacking mindset to go toe to toe with them on a defensive game, I think we will lose. We've actually scored more goals than them this season.

Given that they have only lost, I think, two games all season, I do get the logic for trying to hold out for a 0-0. I am just not sure we are capable of it, which means the only way to get something is to try and score first. If we go one down and they park the bus, I am not sure I can bring myself to watch us flap and flail around like we did against Derby with no clue how to break them down.

Sheaf is our captain and one of the best midfielders in the league when fully at it, yes not hit those heights. He drops in for Allen - hardly panic button stupid is it.And hardly ripping things up.

Thats leaves the front 3 and rudoni as prime attacking options, that is and should be plenty good enough to fashion chances to win the game.

Burnley are also decent going forward, may not have lethal cutting edge, but they are good.

The other changes ive suggested as pretty standard.

That's why I'd revert to a 5 though I'm fairly sure we played a 5 at their place and they beat us comfortably.
They definitely don't score enough goals given the talent they've got. I would not be a fan of Parker if I supported them.

I don't have much issue with your other changes. I do however think it is mental to drop Allen and Torp so we can accommodate Sheaf. We are about to play game 40 of the season and the only impact he has had all season has generally been negative. We have seen how much better we are without him, and this excuse that he has been injured all season and that it isn't his fault is a cope if ever I have seen it. We also have much better options as captain.

It's hitting the panic button and reaching for an imaginary safety blanket which isn't very useful. Allen and Torp have been two of our best players in recent times. They weren't great in the last game, but dropping them both because of it is very short-sighted in my opinion.

Put it this way, regardless of how we set up, if they score first then we might as well start doing this:

Was thinking and if we were away, would have pushed us into a back three but feel at home we should put them under some pressure or at least try to so.

Would go to a more traditional 4-2-3-1, means we can have two DM to protect the back four and the keeper and means we can have Rudoni higher up, to play off second balls.

Wilson
MVE - Thomas - Kitching - Bidwell
Sheaf - Grimes
Sakamoto - Rudoni - Wright
Simms

Benefit is if want to go more expansive with the match, can convert the above to a 3-2-5 and ask Bidwell to stay further back then he has been in the 4-3-3

@Nick can @Earlsdon_Skyblue1 have his account set so any posts with the word 'Sheaf' in are filtered. That way we don't have to read his tedious diatribes every time he's mentioned.

Sorry, what have his contributions been this season? You can't just ask someone to get their account 'filtered' because you fail to answer basic and reasonable questions.

Who are you dropping for him?

I've just looked at the first goalscorer odds as well.

Haji Wright 13/2
Thomas-Asante 13/2
Aidan Dausch 13/2
Ellis Simms 7/1

Poor Ellis. I've got as much chance of being in the squad as two of those above him.
