I said to my dad, i feel so much better with him in goal. I know what you mean about him bringing a calmness. I've been watching him, he seems to be a lot more vocal of late, the saves he is making must be giving him so much confidence too.

He's too calm sometimes though.

That ball which they let bounce through and he took it on the edge of the area. Heart in mouth. I sometimes wonder if he is just really chilled / confident or just winging it. He doesn't make me nervous generally though.

They stopped searching me about 5 or 6 games ago (I'm with my teenage kids). Must be the direction to let the less suspicious looking ones in because I see people still getting searched.

We have played better and lost. So take that all day. The defence is looking solid all of a sudden.

That could have gone either way in a heartbeat. Our defence to start looked all over the place but generally got a bit of a grip. It was an untidy game from both sides. Our strikers were awful at times but no worse than theirs. I don’t rate BTA but it was his one good strike that sealed it, so what can you say. Be grateful and move on

Fucking hilarious all those on here calling for Hyam and Mcinally to be brought back in.

Both couldn’t pass for toffee and couldn’t play under pressure.

And still can’t,

As seen in today’s game where Mcinally gives the ball away and crap positioning gifted us the chance that led to our goal.

He definitely judged it well because there was another one not long after and he came out and put the foot through it so his judgement was spot on both times.
Obviously the criticism that's been leveled at him is he's not vocal enough and there was an occassion in the first half where Binks was clearly waiting for a call that didn't come but he's young and he can develop that part of his game.

Much easier to teach a keeper how to communicate than to do all the other stuff.

Really gritty game today, both teams playing the high line. These are the sort of games it feels good to win.
Some suicidal passing going on for both teams around the back, i think a better side would have punished us. None the less we dug deep and got the result.
Not sure what's been said on here, did anyone else feel like they were playing in almost a panicked manor? You can see the lack of confidence coursing through the team at times. A little composure when shooting could have seen us test the keeper a lot more than we did.
Thought Dovin, Kitching, Torp, Allen and Simms all had good games today.
They were targeting that left side again, but its so much better with Kitching sat in behind JDS.
Good to see they didn't make the same error in taking Simms off toward the end, helped keep us from sitting too deep and gave us an outlet in that last 10 minutes, we found ourselves looking for a second instead of inviting pressure.

Them coming down our right hand side was a worry as the gap between MVE and Binks seemed to be huge! At times it almost felt like they could just wander past and into the box! Like Jimmy said, a better team would have took full advantage of the space! A win is a win though so we move on!

Yes really good judgement. I think he is becoming more confident with each game played (same goes for a few of them). I've been watching him his last few games, can see him shouting a lot more, obviously like you say, it's a work in progress. If we can get a consistent defence in front of him, that will help massively with his development.

I don't really think it's something you can 'teach' as such, comes with experience, confidence & familiarity with your teammates. Whilst I understand the reasoning behind bringing Wilson in when we did, I don't think it was the right move. We've invested in Dovin to be our long keeper so just makes sense to let him play & grow with the team which he is certainly doing now.

Binks was poor first half but turned it round in the second

Happy we dug in and we needed it with Portsmouth hull and Cardiff winning

Can go to Blackburn with some confidence

Still think the 5atb is a temporary stop gap, and fair play to frank for adapting short term

Need haji and EMC back and for FL to be backed with a couple of additions

Very sceptical pre match when I saw the midfield but I thought Allen & Torp were brilliant today. Rudoni frustrating, trying too many flicks in the 1st half and managing to jump over Simms cross early in the 2nd for an easy tap in, but it was his one real bit of quality with the assist for BTA who took his goal well. Dovin class again, gets better every week & fully deserved MOTM. Lati, great defending again, bailed us out a couple of times 1st half & handled Armstrong well in the 2nd - still gives me the fear watching him pass back to Dovin though. Thought Simms lead the line really well and deserved a goal, staring to see snippets of the player from last season.

Negatives - still look easy to play through, Bristol
had a couple of good chances/dangerous moments in the first half a better team would have punished. We’re not good enough to pass through a team in a low block and miss the creativity from the wings a tatts, EMC or Haji bring.

Overall deserved the 3 points based on that 2nd half. 9 pts off play offs with 19 games to go. It’s a long shot, but DK needs to put his money where his mouth is in the next 2 weeks and give FL a fighting chance at making a run for it and not let this season fizzle out by Feb/March.

I never understand the skepticism, he's never outstanding but Allen has rarely ever let us down

Do agree a better side would have scored in the first half however

If I’m not mistaken that was the same midfield that started at Stoke on the opening day and Allen had a stinker. It helped today with Torp & Rudoni played deeper and didn’t leave Allen exposed

We’ve all got to be pleased on yesterday’s performance .
We played the “ inform “ team in the league , yes they had chances , but we played some good football & I believe, got what we deserved.
Now for a tricky game at Blackburn, but with Frank rotating the squad ( with what players we have available ) fresh legs could help us to another 3 points

Not missing Sheaf or Eccles in there.

Yet apparently the football is ‘boring’. It isn’t amazing but it’s not going to be.

We are without our best players at the moment and got a result. Best type of win that is. Newer fans been so spoilt last few years.

I thought we saw the issue with Kitchin yesterday.

1up and goes for a 50/50 he can never make and they slip the ball to the forward who has ran into the space he’s left, but Binks blocks his shot 6 yards out.

His distribution was also incredibly inconsistent.

He plays with aggression and he does talk but you can see why he didn’t feature much before.
