"Sky Blues manager wants to bring three new forwards into the club - and he has plenty of choice

===

Tony Mowbray is switching his attention to more forward-thinking players, in particular his ongoing search for a 20-goals-a-season striker.

The Coventry City boss is looking to add three front-men to compete with Marcus Tudgay for places in the Sky Blues strike force and revealed he’s not short of candidates.

“There are lots and lots of choices out there and we need to try to pick the right ones,” said the manager, who had hoped to add former loan player Nick Proschwitz to his squad before the target man opted to return to his native Germany last month."

Leon Best would score for fun in this division, but unlikely to cut wages and drop division? But who knows?

Marc Antoine Fortune anyone?

Jack Dunn Liverpool might be worth taking on loan.

Do we need another three strikers? Would two be enough?

I would like to see a tall holding the ball up type player, your more traditional centre forward and two with pace.

for pace my first choices on long loans would be Samuels back from Reading and Dunn from Liverpool.

IF we want to push for playoff this season then we need 3 new strikers to this team. George Thomas should play U21 and JPT, he is Young and not ready.

I see no reason why G Thomas shouldn't be on the bench along with Lawton, Harries, and the twins. If we want them to progress they need game time in league matches.

isn't that a very weak bench for league one?

He might well be on the bench with a few other youngsters....but it won't be every week.

We need three strikers

Play them in the JPT and the pre season games. Yes this player are our future but we can't throw them onto the pitch and expect miracles. Only Steven Pressley would do so and look how Conor Thomas ended up?

i totally agree. If the youngsters get on the pitch it will be on merit and even then you couldn't rely on them week in week out, they require careful management.

they also need to be put on the pitch in the right circumstances.

they are more likely going to be hanging around the dressing just to observe and get a feel for things.

we should be looking at any youngsters breaking through as a bonus rather than relying on them. I wouldn't even expect too much from Maddison this season to be honest.

Agreed, don't agree with trying to get him to start every game. I think League One defenders would just hammer him in the first 10 minutes and he would be out of the game. Much better to use him as he was last season and ease him in and use him as an impact player.

Don't think you can blame Pressley for Thomas... As it was in fact Andy thorn which made him a regular in our relegation season. He then spent a year out injured and then since being 20/21 became a regular which isn't too young and is the exact ages players should be breaking into the first team Imo.

Agree! To think that Maddison will be outstanding this season and score some goals and feed our strikers with lovely passes is just so wrong... The problem is that some think this will happen, WE NEED experience on the pitch to get out of this league..

Totally agree. He looked like a little boy lost when he made in onto the pitch last season. Seriously needs a bit of bulking up.

Maddison is a youngster with huge potential, will get his chance and hopefully grab it with both hands. Robbie Keane was just a kid and thats what he did at Wolves and transferred as a nineteen year old to us for £6million. If you're good enough you're old enough !

I agree - Sterling is only 20 years old and a regular starter for England

World Cup 1998 - Michael Owen tearing defences apart

In the pre season training video I saw, he looked like he was a bit taller. I dont know if the other people were small though or it was his new hair cut!

Are you for real? Maddison isn't half as good as Keane was at that age...

Yes but you shouldn't expect it. If it happens it happens.

Exactly, thats why I didn't agree with all of the hype in the telegraph around him. Piling to much pressure on him too soon.

Imagine if he is in the paper being bigged up about taking penalties and he misses one for example.
