I think this is where when you compare teams you see just how good our starting xi is .
How many of their back four get in our team?
Their midfield?
Their wide players ?
Their strikers?

Our starting 11 is one of - if not the best in the league. I stand by that.

what our downfall is - showed last week. Leicester can bring on Jeremy Monga who’d also get into most sides including ours. Our small squad is going to hinder us, although if as someone said earlier we can get to January in or within touch of the top 2 that transfer window can be massive

It isn't about what happens in the game anymore for several on here. Some layed their cards down and stick to them. Eccles, just like many others are not supposed to be good enough just because we went for quality over quantity and failed to get them over the line in time. JDS was supposed to be poor as LB. Yes we're a little light on numbers but the players we do have are good enough and are a part of a close group of players.

True. They then just post pathetic insults and are so easily triggered .

Hopefully we can go into the IB with another win and a draw at least and get players back for the games after it

Teams like Birmingham would have Simms in their 1st team. We have him warming up the bench. We already have Wright and Thomas-Asante on the pitch. We might not have as many strikers as some clubs but at least ours know how to score goals.

My favourite part of the game was when DaSilva backheeled it to Torp, who then backheeled it back to DaSilva. I think it was part of that move when we went all the way back to the keeper, which ruined it a bit. But I just love that we have the confidence / arrogance to do that kind of thing.

Feel like I watched a slightly different game.

First 20/25 we were never in any trouble but we couldn’t get our game going properly and it was a bit scrappy. They were doing a decent job of nullifying us, albeit we’d have eventually found a way as they were poor.

Second half was just a training game for us, they were absolutely nowhere and it was complete domination.

Glad for JDS who continues to improve, as does Torp. Simms had a good cameo too - there is a still a player there, I’m not giving up!

Small squad is tricky, but we still have options and I’d expect reinforcements in January, especially if autos look on!

Which was he? The one taken out by the police through the tunnel or the one up the steps?

Considering we scored in the 16th minute and were never troubled I'm sorry but I have to disagree. I honestly believe we would have won comfortably without their sending off.

They used a scattergun approach on signing players. They bought players but didn't buy a team. They paid over the odds for most of their signings.

Yes we have a smaller squad but most of our players are capable at this level. We have the money to strengthen in January and loan positions available if needed but we will only bring in the right players at the right price.

It isn't that small in reality though
We currently have Dovin , EMC and Rudoni out but in Rushworth , BTA and Eccles we have capable understudies .
We still have Jamie Allen who is a very capable player at our level and has scored and contributed massively in our upward spiral . Ellis Simms who can and will score goals at this level . KKH who was Preston's player of the season last year .
Honestly we need to stop the negativity and under valuing of our players
We are very good and as such the bookies have us as second favourites

Indeed, he's played 150+ times at this level in teams that have finished in or around the play offs. The idea that he's just filler is demonstrably nonsense.

I definitely think if we’re up and amongst it at the top we will see a real marquee forward signing

there’s no excuses really

I agree but a part of me also disagrees

Goals are not a problem for us. BTA has stepped up a level under Lampard and his team. Maybe backup for Torp/Rudoni and the same on the wings.

Top strikers cost a lot of money. But if we did bring another one in I could see us doing a Leeds from last season. Maybe a Prem loan with an option or even obligation to buy on promotion Would be tempting for a Prem side that has a player not needed and going to a club with a very good chance of promotion, tempting for a player not getting play time and playing under Lampard and of course very tempting for us.

I think we have a lot of players who are disrespected more by our own fans than anything. Seen Thomas and Kitching called mid table CBs before but they aren't are they, not by a long shot. Sakamoto too comes in for some stick on here. Stop looking at your stats sheets and watch the fucking game, there's a reason Lampard starts him all the time when fit. Saka/MVE probably the best right hand side in the league.
I'd actually like to know who people think from Birminghams incredibly expensive squad would start for us, because I'm really struggling.
I can't even be arsed to blast Simms with how it's going, he's actually looked half decent when coming on and I'm hoping a goal might spark him. Wouldn't rule it out under Lampard and co.

I took a look at their forum before the game. A fair few were worried about our midfield and Sakamoto was named as a major problem. They were putting 2 or 3 players on him yet he still took the piss

OK he isn't scoring goals like our other midfielders but he is being heavily marked which is giving our other players more space. At the same time he is still getting useful balls into the area.

He has such good feet that he's just a real problem. As you say this allows things to open up elsewhere as the opposition are petrified of him.
An unbelievable signing for the just over £1 million we paid for him really.

I don’t disagree. For me though we don’t have any gamechangers on the bench.

As I said - the starting 11 beats most teams in this league. If we line up with Allen and Simms against Ipswich rather than Grimes and Wright. We’re not winning that game

There’s no doubt that having Rudoni out for a few weeks is a blow but Grimes, Eccles and Torp is still a very good midfield trio.

Thank goodness that Eccles returned to fitness just in time and is in good form.

He puts dangerous balls into the box, and has has excellent vision, so frequently plays balls in over the top from out wide. He doesn't carry much of a goal threat himself, but he's been unlucky not to have a few assists to his name this season.

He's also a real pain in the arse for defenders.

We had a striker on the wing, Eccles in the 10 and our LB wide forward at one point. I think it’s fair to say Lampard would probably rather we had another forward or two in the squad.

Simms made that goal. It’s easy to say that his touch wasn’t good when the chance arose but he was clearly being fouled and we may well have got a penalty if Torp had missed.

Spot on. He would start for most sides at this level.

Plenty criticise the fact Simms, Allen, Bidwell, BTA and others are our back up but they are all experienced players at this level.

Simms did well, credit to him. It was terrible defending though. Goal side always and don’t let the ball bounce. You learn that in school football.
