Same registered address as Leonard Wilson & Co Chartered Surveyors and a small hotelier.

Probably some joker who thinks starting up a new club is a good idea.

I'm sure I heard that the Cov Utd guys had registered the name. Makes sense as a contingency in case SISU pull the plug..

Correction, apparently it is AFCCoventry.com they've registered, the names above are not those of Cov Utd backers..

Tom and Ian are both members of the Sky Blue Trust and used a little initiative and bought the name just I case it was ever needed ( I think they bought a few at same time).
Notching dubious going on, Tom is one of the good guys.

I might be a comedian at times but certainly not a joker. The company has been set up just in case and I hope it never has to be used. Myself and my accountant / business consultant have done it .It is also a birthday gift. Big 60.
Look at the set up date and we were in the throws of not existing.
I have had PM's from fans who will invest , but not massive money unless we win the euro millions.
Might be speculation and we could cash in, but not the original intention.

you might as well get in before SISU do. i wouldn't put it past them registering every possible connotation of the words Coventry, City and Football just to piss on the chips of any potential breakaway club should we become Solihull Sky Blues Franchise FC or the club is liquidated if it proves to be that there is no prospect for SISU getting the return they want for their investors.

To go to court they have to have case. There is no team yet .
What will they do if a team is set up playing in sky blue, with the crest of coventry on the chest. Maybe playing inside the city boundary!!!!
Who knows, maybe I will get a letter.Be careful what you link this to.

Well done Tom, great idea. If you need any players I am happy to offer my services for free. Although I'm 60 I could do a good job coming of the bench for the last 10 minutes. Does this mean that future 'Tommy's Tours' will be in style, rather than on that draughty minibus?

I see no harm in starting to put these things in place now. It's practically 2014, so probably too late for next season, so the earliest we might see a new club is for the 2015/16 season, and I think the vast majority will have had enough by then (especially if we don't see a new stadium rising from the ground). It isn't the time just yet, and I think something will give in the next 18 months either way, but if it doesn't then I suppose we have to be ready to move.

It's not too late for next season, I think February is the cut off point.

The F.A told me that they didn't think we could use " City" in the name. The "AFC" prefix seems to be quite unpopular among football fans in general.

I was thinking more of the logistics than the cut off for applications, and also the appetite is not there just yet, but give it another 12 months and that will change.

I think you will find it's there if needed. You're right its too late for 2014/15 season February is the cut off date to register intention to play next season. The next six to twelve months will I think be crucial.

What was their reasoning for that, because a Coventry City currently exists?

"didn't think we could", sounds as if they aren't sure of their own rules or legal standing ... otherwise, would they not surely say you can or you can't? The FA sound about as competent as the FL.
