I remember this, it was first game of the season. Portsmouth were newly relegated from the PL and in financial freefall, but still had some 'name' players in their team, who just weren't interested or motivated. Was as easy a first game win as you could ever hope for.

McSheffrey's first game back for us, also Keogh's debut. I think Nathan Cameron had a little run in the side and looked reasonable.

Two thoughts, who knew Freddy Eastwood had that leap on and how much real estate remains from outside the pitch?

If my memory serves me right I’m sure I remember turning up & being surprised that Boothroyd had gone with a very inexperienced CB pairing of Cameron & Ben Turner.

They were absolutely brilliant for us for the point where he was dispensed with?
Is that right?

This was this season that Turner eliminated mistakes from his game, and he was probably player of the season until he got injured in a game against Leeds. I don't think he played for us again after that until he returned on loan in League 1. It was also a turning point for Bothroyd as things went seriously downhill after Turner's injury and the loss to Leeds.

I’ve still got the programme, Portsmouth only had about 12 players listed on the back of it

I am 99% sure that we only knew the game was going ahead on the Friday evening as Portsmouth had a winding up petition adjourned
