Hi,

New poster here, please go easy on me.

Just a quick question. Am trying to research the 1979-80 season but am struggling to find any info on who played in each game.

Does anybody know where I can get a list of team line-ups for each game of the season, either on the internet or a book? Does anybody have a club programme from that season that will show this information?

I hope somebody can help.

I believe there's a hardcover book by Rod Dean, called COVENTRY CITY: A COMPLETE RECORD 1883-1991.

Does anybody have it?

I'm specifically looking for info about a player called David Barnes. He played three league games in 1979-80, but I need to know who they were against, and what dates, etc.

I looked on amazon already, but i can't really afford £24 at the moment. All i'm looking for is the info on the one season, and specifically when David Barnes played.

In fact, if anyone can just list the appearances he made, the date and club etc, that would be fine.

If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Just the dates David Barnes played, and who he played against. That would be brilliant.

No, just a fan of the club.

I heard something the other day that reminded me of that season - a bit of a blast from the past - and it got me thinking about how i'd like to relive my youth so i began researching the team/squad, which is when i remembered this relatively unknown player. The more I researched, the less I found, I just know he's supposed to have played three times that season in the league (maybe more in the cup), but I don't know who the opponents were.

I really hope someone gets back to me soon, to put me out of my misery.

I've not forgotten ~ but my wife has moved the book to the loft (along with programmes, and other memorabellia. Will try to find it though.

All i could find was he played 3 times in 1979/80 season
and ten times 1981/82 season 6 league 4 FAC
Debut 15/4/80 v Bolton away drew 1-1
free transfer to Ipswich may 1982 after
Being involved in unsavoury off field incidents ?
taken from "coventry city footballers 1908-1993
the complete who's who" by martin & paul o'conner

Can anyone else confirm that his debut was against Bolton in April 1980?
