The only Wembley game I've missed and the only one we've ever lost.

There was a thread recently about chants that have disappeared

About 50 secs in there is a chant 'Coventry Coventry Coventry', not sure I've ever heard that, when did that stop?

I always assumed this thing chose games from the same day, so why has it chosen one in August?

And it's picked yet another loss!

I was there but apart from the new kit I have zero recollection of this game. Did Speedie make his debut here? That yellow away kit always reminds me of Speedie.

I have so many memories of the Cup Final from the journey down and pre/post match, but remember nothing about this.

Me too and I don’t remember anything about it either…but can remember loads about the semi-final. No cup final for me!

The only thing I recall was sitting infront of some Everton fans, who were a jovial bunch.

Remember the Everton end of the Wembley was busy but not packed. Cov end was absolutely rammed.

I went down with friends, must have been 55,000 Cov and maybe 33,000 Everton.
The only Cov game at Wembley I’ve missed was the Man Utd debacle, when I was on our 30th Wedding Anniversary trip to Porto. We watched the match though!

I threw my Cov flat cap over the fence. Dave Bennett stood on it. I managed to get it back with a stud mark. Still have the cap but the mark has disappeared now.

It was Speedie’s “official debut”. I saw him before that in a (rubbish) pre season friendly at Hereford, but this was his fist “proper” game.

He had a chance early on but hit a low shot wide.

My only visit to the old Wembley. I remember very little about the match except that it was nowhere near the level of the FA Cup Final. I was eleven years old and the walk to the car then the drive back home seemed an eternity of misery. My parents got utterly sick of my moaning and being inconsolable.

I remember going to the game thinking we were going to challenge for the league title that year ! But like others have little memory of the game but remember there being more cov fans than Everton.
