Closed for commercial flights 10 years ago.

Anyone ever fly from there back in the day?

Yes.

Flew to Saltzburg, Austria and back.

It was all very simple.

Kevin Whately was on the same plane.

Such a shame the plans to expand it didn't work - I flew with Tui a few times and really hoped we would have a nice little airport on our doorstep. Bit like Speke airport is for Liverpool - really popular...especially with the Norwegians with all their flights from Norway for the Liverpool games.

Yeah as others have said very simple operation
No huge hanging around back then

Quickly through all the formalities etc
I guess they'd be stinging everyone for a few quid dropping off now
The only frustration I experienced back then was getting stuck behind a party of around 20 golfers on the way back from Malaga late at night .

Went to Rome from there. A nice temporary hut as the departure lounge! Landing was odd too, seeing the places I'd grown up in from the air, all very clearly.

Quick to get in and out of, but that was obviously because not many used it! Am sure the residents are kind of pleased it didn't expand too...

The nimbys at Warwick District Council rejected planning permission for a proper terminal building. I don't think it was just that though, the recession had already started to impact anyway.

It's all very odd around Baginton. Some of the people who live next to the airport like to complain about *any* plane taking off and landing. Why buy a house next to a bloody airport then?!? What did they think would happen?!?

I suppose I can kind of see their argument about it expanding into a major passenger hub (it'd be associated traffic that'd be the problem really - it's already a snarl up on Tollbar and Siskin Drive, and still is really, even with the changes to the road around there, so imagine it if the airport terminal had been popular too) but guess ultimately the same principle applies. Don't want plane noise? Don't buy near an airport!

The flight path's over my house now, so guess I'd notice more but, managed to live in London under the Heathrow flight path and, after a while, you block it out.

Never used it myself but a couple of friends did and both had the issue of leaving from Coventry but on the return journey found out at the last moment that they would be returning to East Midlands instead as the return flight had been cancelled to Coventry. Seem to remember this happening a lot at the time, not sure if anyone else experienced it.

Depends really.

Birmingham has been trying to expand for years and has struggled. The demand is probably there for seasonal flights.

The same people who want to make Birmingham a central hub are the same people who decided on the fate of Cov Airport, do the maths son

Majorca and Jersey a few times, v convenient, although personally for me, Brum BHX is less than 10 min drive away from County Coundon.

Flew to Venice - with about 20 work colleagues - was a bit cramped in the departure hall and then when we got home the cars were everywhere parked in different parking areas and the bus took an hour to get round when people could'nt remember where they parked - BUT it was dam handy !

Flew back from Amsterdam. It was very windy and I’m convinced the runway wasn’t long enough. I thought I was going to die.

I did actually think when we landed back in Coventry that it needed a couple of blokes with brooms to sweep the runway.

They gave us parachutes so all was good.

Never book a flight out of Ibiza and 12am when on a lads weekend. To say we were a little worse for wear is an understatement.
