Yeah yeah yeah. You act like a dick and it's still my fault. How do you know I don't go to games? Care to tell me how many I've been to this season so far? Or any season for that matter seeing as you know everything and never wrong. Even when you prove yourself wrong.

Because you say you don't go? You have said you do other things on other threads also.

Looks like you are doing your best SBK impression. (or trying at least).

Don't think I've ever said that other than Sixfields season. I've mentioned when I've not been at certain games before but I've also mentioned plenty of times when I have been. Just to clear it up I've done four home games so far this season including the trophy game, I have a twelve ticket match package same as last season and I plan to do all midweek games including cup games and as many Saturdays as the family and of course DIY allow. If I use my match packet before the end of the season I'll either get a six match package depending on where we are in the season (i.e. How many games are left) or buy online and print at home. Likely to be the latter. So once again you're being a prick because of your assumptions. I'm sure it's probably still my fault though.

So all of this because I said somebody should buy a house and do DIY but I have also mentioned that you haven't gone to games because you have done DIY instead (based on your words)?

Yes, it is a very poor attempt at an SBK impression.

I moved. Then I could afford to buy in a nice area. You can buy a decent 3 bed house near where I live now for 100k. 250k gets you a seafront house. Have a trade and you will be able to afford one on a single wage.

but the point is that's how difficult it is now just to afford something half decent.
Like I said, a lot of people earn £8 an hour, even affording something in a run down area is hard, especially raising a deposit when you already hand to mouth.

Stop behaving like SBK then. Some games yes. All games no. Not sure why you'd use that to have a go at me. It's a reason that you've just validated after all. Maybe you'll stop now?

If you go to games now then fair play, if you say you miss them to do DIY then I will be sarcastic about it if you spend all week going on about getting angry but then at the weekend no mention of the football. The same as you are more than entitled to be sarcastic my way

Just because I have said somebody should buy a cheap house and do it up, doesn't really take away from that. It's possible to do both

Go for it then, Morris Common would be OK if a little lacking in nearby pubs as they've all gone.

The funny thing about Warwick District Council's opposition to Baginton airport is that the flight path into it is mostly over Coventry and Rugby, whereas parts of WDC are right on the flight path into Birmingham.

Well that was kind of the point. I am convinced there will never be a new stadium under Sisu, but wondered why it hasn't been mentioned more often by them as a prime, desirable location.

There are plenty of potential sites in the area but if you have short arms, deep pockets, a habit of turning all and sundry against you plus a penchant for sitting in court rooms opposite those you need to help it isn't going to happen

Any way BPA is the way forward, despite there being no planning applications, .......... honest :banghead::facepalm:

Buying in a nice area is not just about values but wanting a nice environment to bring up children and a good school for them. We live more modestly than we could in a small terraced house but prefer that to moving to an area we don't want to be in with a bigger house.

No I don't doubt that, I'm one of them. I have lived without a kitchen for 3 months and doing the washing up in the bath while we had a new kitchen. That way I saved thousands from what I would by going to B and Q and paying them silly money.

It doesn't mean that I should expect to be able to live in a bigger house or in a better area and that it's anybody else's fault. If I want that, it's down to me to then improve myself / get a better job / re-train at night school or something like that to get a better salary to then get a better mortgage and be comfortable.

The first house I bought was a 3 bed semi for 26k. Much cheaper than thw rest of thw close it was at the end of. Had the most land.

But the windows were rotten and falling apart. Walked into the through lounge/dining room. My feet were sticking to the carpet. You could hear each time I lifted my feet up. Walked into the kitchen. Most of the doors were hanging off or missing. Upstairs wasn't too bad. Just not touched since the house was built. Was up for 33k but had been up for sale for a couple of years. So why had nobody bought it?

The day I moved in I took up the carpet and ripped most of the kitchen out. When I got paid I bought the units, worktops and doors. Got cheap tiles. Took me 3 days to fit the new kitchen. Next month I bought a new bathroom. It took me 2 days to take out the old one and then fit the new one. Over the next 2 months I bought and fitted the carpets. Then I saved up for windows and doors. Winter was coming. I decorated while waiting. During all this time I had a bed, TV and somewhere to sit. That was it. I had just split up with someone and as usual she kept the lot.

After about 8 months the house was done. Only owed on a small mortgage. It cost me about 31k altogether and was worth about 50k.

So off to the next house.........

It must be available, within proposed budget, within the distance as stated by the FL and the local authority (RBC for that area IIRC) must be willing to hear a proposal from our owners and consider it for the town plan. If the answer is yes to all of that, which with the exception of the price that I honestly don't have a clue about, then that makes developing a stadium there possible. Hence it hasn't been mentioned by them. If you're bluffing you use a site(s) where there's no chance of it happening, in case your bluff gets called. That would be my take on it anyway.

This is interesting.

My daughter has just come back from air cadets and has said they have to move from Coventry Airport because someone has bought the site.

Don't know anymore than that. My guess is, obviously not the City.

Is it for the same reason the electric railway museum has closed? Whitely South Business Park and JLR.

Interesting fact (or not...)

84 was my cadet squadron too. In fact, I took part in the parade when it was renamed 84 (Coventry Airport) Squadron. All day we were told to watch out for officers and salute.

I got put on duty guiding people to the car park. As I was doing just that, bloody wing commander walked up behind me, And barked at me for not saluting, as if I have eyes in the back of my head....

with many jobs paying around £8 and even a cheap house costing £100,000 grand that's still a struggle to get the deposit together and make the monthly payments.
What Astute says about training is right to some extent but not every body has it in their locker.
When I was growing up you could do a fairly menial factory job and still afford a half decent house on one wage! Those days are over, that's why I think it's harder now.

To get a half decent two up two down by me you need a £40,000 deposit and a joint income of £48,000 thousand. That makes things a lot more difficult than it was for us.
My son is in his third year as a teacher. The highest mortgage he could get on his wage was 90k. There are very few houses in the Coventry Nuneaton area for that. His wife has just found a new job and returned to work after the birth of their first child. She has a one year contract that may or may not be renewed. Because her job isnt permenant the mortgage companies will not consider her wage so they can still only get a 90k mortgage. At the age of thirty he is moving back in with us to try and save enough for a deposit.

It is, the plans are essentially still the same as the ones that got called in by the secretary of state and refused except now its split in to two parts and has JLR's name on the application.

The railway museum will go as Rowley Road is being altered and a roundabout being put. Then as part of the second phase a road will run off the roundabout through to the airport entrance on Bubbenhall Road where there will be another roundabout.

That will mean a chunk of the airport land going, most of it is being relocated though, would have thought Air Cadets could relocate on the airport site.

Which would then confirm that this wouldn't be for a stadium as some thought I reckon.
