I don't wanna take anything away from Rioch or Carsley for the great work they've done or the recognition the youth set-up is getting, but it seems a bit of a false achievement that so many youngsters have stepped up to the 1st team because we haven't got depth rather than promoting them solely based on ability.

sort of agree, but then completly disagree as well.

Look at the "youngesters" who actually played for us last year

Thomas - Liverpool wanted him
Bigi - Now at Newcastle
Christie - very decent prospect
Willis - Talk of prem clubs sniffing around

Ideally some of them wouldnt have played as many games, but they will all go onto bigger and better things that CCFC.

Its been part of the flawed thinking around this Club for 15-20 years that we release vitrtually all our graduates ,we should have been able to utilise more of them in the past ,rather than giving managers free reign on decisions that lead to wholesale purchases every time we had a change .

I think we have a good academy system which has produced some decent prospects, however I do agree with your sentiment than necessity rather than their shining quality is the reason they have been so involved at such a young age (17-18). Really they shouldn't be getting so near the first team until their 19-20.

We have produced good/still producing but I agree, just a lot of them have been used way too early. Gael, Thomas and Christie shouldn't have been first choice members of the team for large parts of the season and players like Roberts/Willis who were on the bench sometimes probably should have been out on loan to L1/L2 clubs.

Agree that they shouldn't have been used so young, but after today, it's not the best timing saying they aren't ready! Sure it's only Hinckley, but usually most Academy players don't even make it at BSN level. Ours taught a side from that level a footballing lesson today.

Having just watched the youtube of Rankin-hellllooo, we have a player here!

Then again how many of our kids have been great with us? After showing potential they always make it with other clubs. Let's hope that stops now.

Has great balance, bit of pace and a trick, strong lad and not afraid of a tackle. Just love the way he pings those through balls, looks to have a lot of creativity. And that goal where he lobbed it in the far corner from miles out was lovely.

Our academy roolz. That's why it pisses me off so much when we cash in before they get a chance to flourish here! I'd support an XI of Sky Blue graduates with so much more passion than I would a team full of better paid, experienced players.

I think what might have annoyed Carsley and co last season's was the amount of players going off to play for the first team! We were riding high at the top of the academy league but with players like Ruffels, Clarke-Harris, Joe Henerson, Will Roberts added on top of the players like Cyrus and bigi they lost out the the top spot!

The one other bad thing that's happened is Jeffers and wilson were rushed too quickly. Both signed a contract far too early when not needed and I think that in a whole has possibly ruined the players.

Yesterday shown promising signs. I liked the look of will Roberts, I don't know if anyone else saw his touch but my God it was world class! Louis Gardner looked technically strong. Thomas shwon first team quality and you can see he's a cut above the rest. The captaincy was given to him? When Wood, Kilbane and even Elliott were on the pitch? Is that to tell us he's in contention!? Surely not?

What are you implying? I went to every single home game last year! I shall challenge you to a duel for slighting my loyalty, Sir!
