You would think then they have some guidelines.

Those caseworkers who go house to house get absolutely rinsed by the company owners, like slaves.

My ex mother in law is a carer, the stories I’ve heard: not paid for travel time when it’s more than half her hours, treated like shit, 10 minutes to do a full “care” for old people with multiple conditions. So shit.

Yeah.

A lot don't pay travel time, sometimes a shift could physically take them 12 hours but they only get paid 7 or 8 hours because of the driving about involved.

The owners of the care companies make a fortune.

Care workers should be part of the NHS. Care in this country is an absolute scandal.

People would rather draw some rainbows and clap than demand politicians fund it properly though just in case they have to give up £30/month of their £80k/year salary.

I agree it should be under the same sort of control as the NHS, but it's so big in itself and only going to grow it should have a degree of separation (but obviously with very close working relationships). We could have the NCS (National Care Service)

The two work in tandem don’t they really. I mean the care is for your health and cuts to one tend to mean strain on the other as we’ve seen.

Take it out of local council budgets and fund it nationally at least. It won’t be cheap but it’s an investment everyone will need eventually. I’d rather spend money there than bus passes and the triple lock if we’re going to buy pensioner votes.

I agree on the national funding bit.

It is a minefield because if you have the two services politically they'll be played off against each other - care saying people need to be in hospital and vice versa to change who has them on their budget. But the two are individually such massive sectors and cover slightly different aspects it would be almost impossible to manage. But they would most definitely need to work very very closely.

It will do, if I was grafting my arse off and grown adults were dicking about next door practising a dance then I would be too.

Obviously my comments aren't aimed at every NHS worker, just the ones who have developed god complexes and do TikTok Dances.

There was some Tory baroness on the radio who has been tasked into looking into the increasing issue of care for the elderly.
She said bringing it under the umbrella of the NHS is a must.

I was having this conversation with my Missus yesterday and she said there are a few ‘weird’ things going on.

One which was why do we have a Minister for Health and a Minister for Social Care if Social Care, on the whole, isn’t covered by the government.

Also, where she works there are a couple of buildings being left empty, Myton for one, but people are being staffed to it in the upcoming weeks.

Makes you wonder if the Government will start taking in some of the patients of care homes if they have come into hospital and start looking after them theirselves rather than letting them go back into care homes and spread it further.

I might not have got this 100% correct as I’ve had a few beers but there’s certainly a few things happening that don’t quite add up at the moment.

Have to say if my Old Man was in a care home at this time I’d be going up there getting him out and moving him in with me.

Luckily he’s not and he’s sat at home chain smoking about 60 a day whilst me and my brother drop him food and more fags.

My mother in law is in a home. My missus enquired about getting her to stay with us just before lock down kicked in but they advised her against it.
Turns out this week the virus has found it's way into the home. 3 residents and 2 staff affected.
Sounds like the home are dealing with it quite well. Well to be fair.
