Hi guys,

As you are are all aware with what’s going up at the hospitals I won’t bore you with the stories. But the third year student nurses over at Coventry University have all opted in to go out into the ‘war zone’ off their own backs to help out in our countries fight against the Coronavirus, and its definitely a noble deed by them.

There’s currently a justgiving page going about helping raise funds for them to have a celebration for when they qualify and finish their courses in the next 6 months.

If any of you are interested in donating then here’s the link

Help raise £5000 to fund a graduation ball for the student nurses of September 17 cohort who have volunteered to join the Covid-19 fight

Feel free to share it on any social media platform.

Thanks guys

Nick will be falling over himself to donate to this. He loves nurses, especially in the current climate. He can’t say enough good things about them. It’s, like . Nick, shut up with the superlatives. Nick, why don’t you get a room if you love nurses so much.

Being serious for a moment. A great cause. I believe that the wife donated the petrol money we haven’t spent this week to it. She’s been doing that every week to one charity or another.

At least they will have their dance routines mastered for the ball.

Fair play for your wife making donations though every week

Unless they take five minutes out during a 14 hour shift to do a tiktok in which case all the good is eliminated and they’re just lazy work shy knobheads.

It will do, if I was grafting my arse off and grown adults were dicking about next door practising a dance then I would be too.

Obviously my comments aren't aimed at every NHS worker, just the ones who have developed god complexes and do TikTok Dances.

Know for a fact UHCW staff have been told not to post Tik Toks or other social media Nick so you should be happy.

Shame that people training nurses there are encouraging it Get them trained up early doors, can't have nurses without moves.

Telling people in public facing jobs not to piss about on the Ward with filming dances is common sense and fair play to UCHW for banning it!

If people didn't take time out at work to do stuff they weren't supposed to this forum would die.

I'm pretty sure Dave sat in an office looking at a website and arguing with strangers on it isn't the same as people dancing about to rehearsed dance routines in wards and on expensive equipment.

If they want to have a dance, go and blast some tunes out in the staff room and crack a beer at the end of the shift between yourselves and enjoy it. Don't film it to try and get likes and famous off the back of the current praise for the NHS in wards or all over machines etc.

That's the big issue in this crisis isn't it?
Not thousands of deaths, not lack of PPE or tests for targets missed.
You're more worried about a shouty tv presenter and some tik toks!!

Get some PPE out to care homes and people who work in shops etc where it really is lacking. Yes.

Have never said it's the main issue either have I?

You seem far more concerned by some shouting and dancing. That's your prerogative. I find it strange.

Not really, it's discussion. It annoys the shit out of me, likewise other things annoy other people.

I try to distance myself mentally from the death count stuff in all honesty, maybe when this is over the media can have a daily update on deaths broken down by cause though to keep everybody scared

I do feel that although the NHS are obviously doing a good job that there are so many who get overlooked while the NHS love in goes on.

Exactly minimum wage care workers fighting coronavirus armed only with a sanitary pad for a face mask and paracetamol don't seem to get the same love.

At least you are getting paid for your hobby.

There are so many industries still working hard, people going to stack shelves or work on the checkout have no PPE but facing hundreds / thousands of people a day and are putting themselves at risk.

That's just one example. when you look through the chains then you have suppliers etc.

It's the fashionable thing to do now to have a love in for the NHS, people need to love the NHS more and draw a bigger rainbow than the next person.

In Japan etc there have been cases in the courts of people suing for defamation of their online personas. With influencers and the like it's going to happen. We'll look back on service industry and finance and think of it in the terms we consider manufacturing and farming.

My wife is a nurse but she doesn’t like the Thursday clapping for some reason, last night was the first night I could do it as I am normally at work and I found it lovely to see people in our little street coming out and cheering and it nearly made me cry.

Care workers should be part of the NHS. Care in this country is an absolute scandal.

People would rather draw some rainbows and clap than demand politicians fund it properly though just in case they have to give up £30/month of their £80k/year salary.

There was some Tory baroness on the radio who has been tasked into looking into the increasing issue of care for the elderly.
She said bringing it under the umbrella of the NHS is a must.

You would think then they have some guidelines.

Those caseworkers who go house to house get absolutely rinsed by the company owners, like slaves.

They used to be employed By local councils until a decade ago.
Same with homes.
We used to have regional health authorities from mid 70's to mid 90's
Then it was reduced from 14 down to 8 until 2012 when they were completely abolished
I'm of the opinion the problems of distribution testing etc would have been much more efficient had these bodies still existed rather a greatly reduced centralised approach

The same may prove to be the case when trying to put together the track and trace operations in the near future
