It's a joke of a paper, unfortunately they have made a choice to cosy up to wasps and as a result they dare not big up the historic local football team in fear of upsetting their friends....don't buy it, don't click on the links, just ignore the insignificant washed up rag

Biggest disappointment for me was when it was revealed in court that the CT did a deal with CCC to suppress information relating to the Ricoh sale. There had been people on here suggesting the CT and CCC were pretty cosy on here and Simon would categorically deny it and suggest it was tin foil hat territory. Once that came out in court he never posted on here again and the CT never addressed the issue at all.

Hi.

Nothing of that nature was ever "revealed in court".

The Wasps deal was actually revealed by the CT weeks before it was concluded - much to the annoyance of the council and Wasps. The implication it was somehow covered up by the paper is the polar opposite of what happened.

It's denied because it is tin foil hat territory.

I stopped posting because of nonsense like this - and the rest of this thread.

Simon - have you heard back from wasps, the RFU and the secretary of state yet re: your "stop ccfc from leaving Coventry" articles? After your article saying you you had written to the FA and FL and MPs go try and stop it, you said on twitter that you'd also written to wasps, RFU and SoS. That was a good 2 weeks ago?

I have not posted nonsesce, I have also asked for no ccfc. ccc, etc to be posted. If you want to post and make a point please do, I have removed other points of view (for now)

I suppose if you try to encourage readership, by rehashing facts that people already know, as click bait, then the crime is lazy crap journalism. No wonder their readership is so low.

I think he meant the bail out.

Why is the rest of the thread nonsense?

Surely could just reply to the points rather than claiming conspiracy all the time?

It's nice and easy to discredit posters on here, meanwhile you play up to people like garry woolaston.

The other thing to bear in mind in fairness to the CT is that not many people care about Wasps season tickets

Your paper suppressed the story about the ACL bail out. So don't come here on your high horse.

Sounds like you're agreeing with Fiona Lawrence, SISU lawyer, that Simon Goacher, engaged by CCC, had not investigated the claim fully and had not followed up on all the evidence he was supplied with?
Are you stating that the Telegraph didn't have details of the council's bail out of ACL prior to first reporting it? And there wasn't an agreement with between Alun Thorne and Martin Reeves to suppress the story until after the council had agreed the bailout, in private?

I would have through that a newspaper would value its integrity and as such when claims such as those above are made and if, as you claim, they are totally false then at the very least the newspaper would prominently dispute the facts being presented if not take legal action over said false claims.

Would be interesting to hear what you think of CCC's assistant director of communications Fran Collingham's views on local journalists
Some journalists are crap - and you can use them. You can tell they’re crap when they take the first quote you give them, they use the angle on your press release and they don’t chase you on supplementary questions. If they’ve got a decent newsdesk they’ll be back with more questions after you’ve fobbed them off the first time, but time and resources being what they are on local newspapers you can usually expect an easy ride

So rather than defend yourself on a forum that you cleary read you prefer to let people question your journalistic integrity without response?

If Simon is going to pass comment on the validity of postings on the internet might be wise to start a little closer to home with the Telegraph's comment section.

Can't say a word bad about the Telegraph on here or you're part of the "tin foil hat brigade"

The Telegraph are the last noble bastions for justice in this fair city, didn't you know that they single-handedly brought the club home from Northampton? Personally, I can't understand why there isn't a statue of the great Simon Gilbert stood next to Jimmy Hill outside the Ricoh. Thank you for saving CCFC, Coventry Telegraph!

It's easier to just keep shouting conspiracy if people disagree or challenge anything, no matter how constructive it is.

The same as the old prnoid stuff

Simon said he had written to wasps and RFU over 2 weeks ago.

No story yet so assumed they haven't got back to him, only wasps coming back to the table re: Ricoh negotiations will prevent moving out of coventry, yet he and CT are targeting sisu, ccfc, FL and Fa. The latest 'timetable' tweet is pure scaremongering.

And if they haven't come back to him isn't that a story itself? The CT seem to have a hotline straight through to CCC, CSF and Wasps, on some stories they have a response up from them in minutes so if they are refusing to engage with the paper on this topic doesn't that raise its own questions?

Strange how there was no reply.

Must get back to Twitter and tell everybody about the tin hat brigade on here because people asked questions and didn't just shout SISUOUT over and over.

Nobody said they were. Think back to when we were in Northampton, the CT did absolutely nothing for 12 months and then after a couple of weeks campaigning we suddenly came back, if you were suspicious you would think it was all planned. Anyway thats not the point the point is the CT and in particular Simon Gilbert were more than happy to take all the credit for that yet now they are sat on the arses doing nothing again they are saying its down to the fans.

The CT is a focal point. If they had campaigned hard against franchising and Wasps turning up things could be very different now. Same thing with the academy, start a big campaign and unite everyone behind it.

Not often I could consider supporting the CET, but surely a newspapers role is to REPORT, not provide leadership to a supporters group campaign.
The supporters group should be doing the campaigning...the donkey work, the research, the fundraising etc.
Sitting on hands whingeing that someone else should do it smacks of hypocrisy in the extreme.

When things are bad, what does that mean?
Do you mean... like for BHS employees robbed of pensions? For youth unemployment? Council service cuts? The homeless? Or siding with a trading company against another trading company... and against a charity...and a leisure centre management company?
I'm not a fan of the CET, far from it. But please, be REAL.
