For those Sky Blues not going to Fleetwood, you can support the Cities real rugby club at home at the Butts v Loughborough, 3 pm kick off, decent boozers around the ground, live entertainment in the club house after the match, £15 adults, under 16's Free. #Support CCFC & CRFC, shun Wasps !!

Exciting season ahead.

New coach, about 30 new players in.

Only 1 player from last season in the 20 man squad.

Even left out Rob Knox & Dan Rundle who have been stars over the last couple of seasons big times ahead for the club under Rowland Winter I feel!!

Hopefully make it up to the game tomorrow!

CMON COVVVV!!!

I am not a fan of rugby as a game, but fair play to you. It sounds better than that faux commercial crap Wasps do.

Not sure how it will pan out, this new guy talks a big ambitious project and seems very professional. Is trying to focus on local players where possible, up the training schedule and get the guys fitter. It's usually always a good day out and it would be one in the eye for 'Franchise pests FC' if Cov succeeded and got to Championship level !

His ambitions are certainly ahead of other sides at this level, the drone filming for training etc very new thought process.

He talks a very good game if the side and club produce this on the pitch they'll cruise this division but a new squad have they gelled etc yet to be seen.

RW style is all out attack, tap and go for pens will be value for money this season we may concede 30+ points in many games this season but we'll certainly score 40+ if all goes to plan!

I'm not a big fan of rugby, ill watch the six nations and World Cup games involving England, but I get dis-interested pretty quickly.
I do wish the ONLY rugby team from Coventry a good season and it would be great if they were back in the top division again, I can just remember the David Duckham days.
Good luck CRFC

I'll be going up. Looking forward to the season. I agree RW sounds like he has a plan and can execute it. Hopefully we will be celebrating two promotions come May.

Not my sport but it would be great to see them get up to the same level as the pests.

Cov winning 28-0 after 20 minutes! Apparently every Cov player today is making their debut.

Just the 54-14 win to get the season going!

19 of the 20 man squad were on debut plenty of quality waiting in the wings as well.

Hopefully they'll do Coventry proud this season.

Some scintillating Rugby today, particularly in the first half. A big improvement in all areas on the last couple of seasons, re-cycling of the ball, quick offloading, ball handling, creative running play with plenty of pace, solid forward play, consistently good in the lineout, solid defence, solid kicking and more disciplined. Very much looking forward to the away derby with Moseley next Saturday. Brings a bit of pride back to the city with all the Shenanigans at the football club.

Away at Moseley rekindling a rivalry which hasn't been played out in recent years!

Should be a cracker & what a day for it!! Was half tempted to go but stuff on this afternoon.

Good luck Cov!

An absorbing hard fought game with both sides giving it their all. Cov dominant for much of the game but unforced errors in defensive positions and going forward costing Cov the game. Poor handling and some injudicious kicking largely to blame for Cov's demise. A lineout steal 10m out 13 minutes from time with the scores at 14-14 produced an unconverted try for Moseley and sealed the win. Even then at 19-14 the momemtum was with Cov and I thought they'd go on and win it. Straight from the restart though Jubb took out a Moseley player in the air and was red carded. Always going to be difficult playing with 14 men for the last 10 minutes or so but even then Cov found themselves in good positions deep in the Moseley half. Again lineout and handling errors gave respite to Moseley when Cov should have capitalised. In essence the game was gifted to Moseley who fair play to them, despite being under the cosh for much of the game remained solid and made few errors. I expect to see Cov bounce back at home to Macclesfield next week and I'm sure they're not going to be far off the top come the end of the season.

Heard the ref allowed Moseley to kill the scrum in the 1st half? Should have awarded a penalty try & stamped his authority on it & it would have been a decent game!

Oh well, hopefully bounce back next week, hoping Dan Rundle can get back in the squad. I see him & 2 others are plying for Wasps A this week.

Yes that's right. The scrum must have been re-set 5 times for Moseley pulling the scrum down 5m out. Should really have been a penalty try but ref not strong enough. Judge for yourself with these highlights

Even the highlights are frustrating. Too many handling errors in key positions.

Refs at that level I always found to be quite poor. The scrum is a bit of a dark art - you just have to make it look like you are doing it properly but it was quite evident that cov were on top in the scrum/maul etc.

What a great performance and score yesterday.
55-12
Cambridge had no way to cope and it could have been much worse for them with better finishing, by at least twenty points,.
Topped off with a great debut for a mates lad at no 21

Yeah that's him ISSS.
He sure did.
Good pedigree he's come through Worcester /Northampton and I think Munsters academy /youth set ups.
That's the first time I've seen RW
Knew he was young but didn't realise, what is he early thirties?

Yeah 32? I think.

Doesn't look like what you would imagine a rugby coach looks like don't know his career background.

Another no show & hammering away from home!

I'm sure we'll walkover OA next weekend at the BPA before losing away the week after!

More frustrating than CCFC at the minute very jekyl and Hyde!

Oh dear, didn't make this game but 40-42 at home is a set back. I know we are in a rebuilding stage but the inconsistency is king here ! Don't know much about them but Hartpury College racked up another 64 points today against fancied Moseley to continue a 100% record !. Where are they getting their players/resources from ?
