10 pages of pure conjecture. If it's true that Wasps are making a bid so be it. Sisu could make a bid unlikely as that
may seem. Either way there is very little we can do about it so just sit back and await the outcome.

Who would have thought CCFC would be in Northampton? Or the London Wasps in Coventry?

Talking about it in Otis world, Torch.

Saying what my stance is. NW keeps on comparing what I am saying to us going to the likes of Dublin, but that is totally incorrect. My stance is one of only if all sides agree. We would therefore never ever go to Dublin and would never ever go to Truro. Or indeed, Northampton.

No-one should relocate their club against the fans wishes. I think that is a sensible and rational stance.

CCC, ACL and Wasps refuse to confirm or deny. CCC tells CRC that it will be consulted....something smells around here and it's not you for once.

As an aside, back in the day there's a certain irony in who the intended top flight opponents for the first game were.

But that is just guesswork. None of us have any idea what this potential deal is.

I find all this so un NW ish. I really do. Always had you down as one of the most level headed and rational posters around. Yesterday and today we seemingly have people outraged even though we know next to nothing about any deal or even if there is a deal.

This story is if, if, if, if. It is full of if's.

You seems to be getting rather uptight over a bunch of if's and maybe's. Just doesn't sound like you.

I would only NOT oppose it (doesn't mean support it) IF all sides benefitted from it and all supporters were happy with it.

Can't make it any simpler. All I want to do is wait until someone says something and puts some meat on the bones. Find it very bizarre that people want me to condemn something before we have even heard what the deal is.

Find that bizarre and more than just a little bit nutty to be honest.

Someone leaked out some chemicals into the atmosphere or something? Please let common sense prevail.

Otis mate, I'm not disagreeing with you for the sake of disagreeing with you - but (politely) remember how you felt when CCFC was taken off to Northampton.

That's how a lot of Wasps fans will be feeling now. If you don't believe me go and read their forums.

http://www.rugbynetwork.net/boards/read/s96.htm?98,14903253,page=2

And this isn't a nomadic club without roots - this is a team that's been based in West London since the 1920s, and at Wycombe (less than ideal, but still relatively speaking the right side of town) since 2002. This proposed move isn't something that suits Wasps fans - it's something that suits their owners (the previous ones having been refused planning permission to build a bigger stadium in Wycombe for both the football club and Wasps to rent). Their new owner seemed to accept when he took over the club that West London is Wasps home, and that's where they should be playing...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/22090960

For a while now there's been talk that they'd do a deal with Brentford to share their new ground, but that seems to have gone quiet. Maybe this is their owner's way of pressuring those negotiations?

Anyway, even if it suited both of the local teams I support (Cov RFC and CCFC) I couldn't countenance the idea of another team's owners (Rugby or Football) moving a team here just for a better financial deal. That's treating fans like sh*t, frankly, and having had it done to us, I couldn't bear the idea that we would support doing it to someone else.

It's an unworthy idea, even if it's just a bargaining chip in a bigger game, and the Council/ACL/Higgs trust should move away from it sharpish, imho.

You don't have to disagree with me. I have quite clearly and categorically said, if ANY of the 3 parties are opposed to the move then I am opposed to the move.

I honestly think people are not listening to a single word I am saying. Seems people are disagreeing with me when I am saying exactly the same thing.

I would only unoppose it if ...... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Oh, what's the point ...... like talking to a brick wall. If Wasps fans are against it I am against it. Is that really that hard a concept to grasp?

Nope. Seems like I'm not like you NW and don't just jump the gun and second guess and just assume. I would want to hear it first, just to be sure, but I wouldn't just assume it. I know nothing of Wasps, nothing about club rugby, it's mechanics, precedents, whether this had happened before etc.etc.

For me it would be very incorrect just to assume. I don't assume anything. I wait to see what people have to say and if Wasps fans don't want the move then I will respect their wishes and back them in campaigning not to move here.

I've always been brought uo in life not to just jump to conclusions or assume anything. It's served me well.

It's not a hard concept to grasp, but like a few others you seem to suffering from the idea that most Wasps fans might want to come to Coventry. Now that is a hard concept to grasp, for me at least. It sounds a little like wishful thinking to justify holding the opinion that it's somehow acceptable.

It's pretty clear that a number of their fans are against it, even their owner (at one point) accepted where their home is, and yet you seemed to be saying let's wait and see what the deal is. As far as I'm concerned it's a bit late by that point - if Wasps are talking about moving to Coventry, which is what everyone seems to believe is on the cards, then it's a good time to let the Council and everyone else know that we're against it too.

If nothing is signed yet, then it's a good chance to influence the deal - when the ink's dry it really will be too late.

Sometimes people surprise you and it's happened before and will happen again.

It wouldn't have totally surprised me if they were in favour. By the same token, I was very surprised that Cov rugby wouldn't be against a few games for Wasps here.

You assumed earlier CCFC fans wouldn't be happy if we went to Dublin.

You appear to be ignoring the evidence duffer keeps posting.

And there's the amazing assumption that somehow fans of other clubs would be different, and wouldn't care where on the globe their team started playing games... unlike us. That's a pretty big assumption to make.

I tried to look on the internet to see what Wasps fans were thinking and couldn't find anything at all, so I didn't know how they felt. And how do we know if this deal would be so inticing that it might change people's minds.

I simply do not know. I don't know what the deal is. We are all guessing what it is. I would just like to see what the deal is.

I personally think it would be rather daft for Wasps fans to just totally dismiss everything too before they have heard what is going to be said. Fine if they are saying IF this happens I will not back it etc., but I always think it wise to hear what people have to say first.

No wonder the world is in such a mess.

But I know we wouldn't be happy. We ALL know that. We weren't happy moving 34 miles, so I know we wouldn't be happy to move to another country. there is a precedenty there. Surely you can see that? I know nothing about Wasps, or their fans or anything about club rugby.

I do know we went to Northampton and we were totally opposed to the move.

Massive, masisve difference. Dublin scenario would be based on historic fact, where we all opposed the move. The Wasps thing, a pure guess.

Otis - it's not a guess. Use some empathy and put yourself in a Wasps fans shoes. Failing that, go read their message board - I've posted a link in a couple of places now.

And if you want a Coventry RFC fan's take on it, use mine. I've been going for a good few years now. My opinion is that other than for the odd European game at the Ricoh, the thought of having a top-flight club parachuted into the City could not possibly be a good thing for Coventry RFC (who have turned the club around, and are at least threatening to move up a league). That's the chairman's opinion on it too (which carries more value than mine!).

To tell you the very honest truth, I have spent so long on here trying to defend my position, I haven't had time to do anything other than type on here. Wasted about 5 or 6 hours of my life, for what I thought was a very honest and well reasoned position.

If I had, had time I would have checked the links, but I honestly haven't had a chance. Everytime I go to do something else away from this forum I seem to get yet another post from NW and I feel compelled to reply to it.

I will check the links in the morning I promise. I've consistantly said if Wasps are against it then I am. I just think it wise to see what is going to be said first.

For instance, if a deal came out and it said it was going to make CCFC one of the biggest clubs in the world, then let's just watch and see how many people change their minds or lose their sense of ethics of all a sudden. Wouldn't surprise me if it were many thousands.

Waiting for more info is a rational thing to do and the proper thing to do. Otherwise we are getting angry on just pure rumour.

No wonder I haven't had to time to think let alone do anything else.

Just checked and 74 posts I've made today and nearly all of them not my one line quips, but detailed, long replies.

I think I have wasted about 9 hours on here today, looking at the times of my posts. And then you ask me if I have checked your links? :thinking about::laugh:

And here we are at the usual place. Knowing what is best without having any of the facts in front of us. We don't know how many stadiums they are looking at. Would the Ricoh just be another temporary home for them? Are we just being used as a bargaining tool for another stadium?

Are CCC also just using them as a bargaining tool to get Joy to act like an adult for once? But no, we should think about their fans without knowing any of the facts. And also argue against those that say that they don't want them here as we have not considered their fans

Would be interested to know what would happen to people's views if any proposed deal promised to make both Coventry City and Wasps two of the biggest clubs in Europe in their respective sports and also promised to invest heavily in grassroots rugby for Cov.

Would be very interested then to see how strong and entrenched people's ethics and standpoint was. Obviously NW and Grendel wouldn't budge an inch, but I wonder if many other's people's views would change.

On the other hand, it might just prove to be a very bad deal for eveyone involved.

On the other hand it might be good for some and bad for others.

On the other hand, we could just wait to see what all the fuss is about and what is to be proposed.

You are risking putting so many good points together in one go Otis. It will be time for some to get out of bed soon. They will be looking for half a sentence to have a go at to show the whole post is wrong

I await the normal question on would they be charged 1.3m rent.

I also await the next comment from SISU.

Makes a long shift at work more interesting

I'm not going to bother waiting for everyone to get out of bed.

Fook it. I'm not going to even bother waiting for any statement or announcement, I am just going to assume that any deal, if there is a deal, will be really good for Coventry City FC and I am obviously therefore going to back it all the way. All the way baby! Bring it on. Coventry City Wasps RFCFC.

Don't care about anyone elses views, if this makes CCFC a real force then bring it on. Come on!!!

I'm going to assume this will be excellent news for Coventry City and see the back of Sisu and the Sky Blues in the Premier in 2 years.

Come on you Sky Blue Wasps!!

I've heard someone has even written a new Sky Blue Wasp song for us too. they couldn't be bothered to wait for any stattment and just assumed it would be fab news, so here it is.

Sky Blue Wasps with a sting in our tail
Sing together and we'll never fail
Sky Blue Wasps going to win real soon
How do we know, well we'll just assume.

All done to the tune of Lieutenant Pigeons' Mouldy Old Dough.
