My fear is playing teams that don’t like playing football and just put 10 men behind the ball, we can never seem to get past a draw with those sorts of teams.

Have you seen the size of Rudoni and EMC ?
Also looking at other players , there seems to have been a lot of work in the gym

I don't think we will be a soft touch this season

Good, it'll make a big difference to able to stand up to all the cloggers in this division, eg our bogey team, Preston

I think with the high press alluded to in training and in the interviews, then a lot of teams will get caught out, even the ones who pull 10 behind the ball, as we will be in their faces before they can even get set up

I don't think the defence is good enough to go up automatically. Its an area for concern as it was last season. Top 6 is realistic.

If Ipswich can do it there is absolutely no reason we cant

The fact we even consider this as a possibility shows just how far we've come

Its only 7 years ago that we were preparing for life in the 4th tier. Never in my wildest dreams did I think at that time we could ever get back to the position we're in now

We might still get another defender in. Also Thomas and Kitching will be learning from their mistakes, they are only young

I was really positive about the signing of Kitching last season, we paid a good fee and I just think he fell a bit short of expectations. Not slating the guy because it's not like I could do any better, maybe I expected a little too much too soon. As you say they are both relatively young and could come on leaps and bounds. Although I think Kitching may struggle to oust Binks from the staring 11 early doors once he's available again.

It’s not about the size of our players, it’s about how well we can break down teams that like to sit back and play with a back 7. So often against these sort of teams we pass, pass, pass around our defence/midfield and nothing happens.

Hopefully players like Rudoni will be the key to unlocking some of these defensive teams. I’d always rather us play against a team that likes to attack than a team that likes to defend, we always seem to struggle against the latter.

If you watched the Everton game you will have seen that our approach is now different.

Looking at what Ipswich did last year gives me a lot of hope. Do think it means Robins has to be braver with subs/tactical changes as they freshened things up after 60 minutes in most games. To be fair, didn’t have the depth last year….it’s looking like we do this time around.

I still think we need another CB and definitely a LB. Dasilva isn't good enough.

Fair enough, maybe we’ve got better at breaking defences down but I think one pre-season game is very little evidence to go off.

I agree we’ve invested exceptionally well this summer. Rudoni, BTA and EMC are real coups for me. But this is the Championship. It’s an utter dogfight. If we have decent luck with injuries I’d be disappointed with anything outside the top 8. I also suspect we might have to fend off some late transfer plays for Simms, Wright and Sheaf.

If we finish outside the top 6 something has gone wrong, this group should be easily achieving that.

Technically he is good but last season he got pulled out of position too easily at times .
Hopefully now he is settled into the squad he can play with more confidence

Love the confidence but I hope people don't let their expectation turn negative.

If we can get BTA through the door and a commanding C(D)M then we're going to be in a great position.

I'm quietly confident we will be pushing playoffs again but I'm not getting carried away. It's a long season, we'll have good and bad runs but I think we'll be up and around there.

This is it, it's been a crazy few years. I never thought we'd get into this situation. We're still riding the wave, I don't think it's over yet.

Tbh it wasn't something i agreed with initially, i guess i was hoping Burroughs was up to it, which seemingly might not be the case... i think we might need another RB. Cyrus Christie is a reasonable shout imo.

They would all be stupid to leave, considering this is the best chance we've had to go up since premiership relegation (squad quality wise). Although cash dictates I guess.

He won't come here . "If " we sign a right back it will either be a young loanee or a young prospect. An established RB won't want to compete with MvE

I've heard that said so much by people obsessed with this 'starting 11' yet we keep signing good players.

No I get that
My point was more about MvE , he's arguably our best prospect and this season won't be far off the best right back in the division. Can't see many established players wanting to compete with him

Agreed, he's a star. But still needs a rest. Christie is 31 now... time to come home?

I just want to be in the mix after Easter. And please, no no f-in taxis, double decker buses, ships planes or anything else for Robins when we lose 3 or 4 on the bounce.
Its the championship we know what’s coming, just enjoy the ride.

I’m convinced that is why Torp was signed - long range shooting. The only way to properly disrupt a low block is to get the opponents to step out of shape, so if you’ve got someone known for their long range shooting ability someone will have to close down, and that creates space.
