Well that's not the angle I expected them to take... although the local councillors are Conservative, so that makes sense. No point losing your electorate!

Until the Ricoh issue is resolved we have to go down the new stadium route.

Like the crap about trying to get the club back to the Ricoh when the leader of Coventry Conservatives is on the record saying the actions of the council have cross party support.

I think it’s an ill considered stance from the Tories.

The Cov Labour Council, (Ann Lucas and her team), were (choosing words carefully) very helpful in getting Wasps into the City.

Let’s say SISU eventually win their appeal, Cov Council May have write a big old cheque out. That’s taxpayer money. The Tories need to be pointing the finger directly at Labour.

The Tories have a reasonable chance of getting more councillors elected if they encourage a new stadium to be built and are shown to be supporting construction, small businesses etc.

And let’s not forget, the Boris mantra is “build build build”.

It would be pointless and hypocritical for them to point the finger at Labour when they've been in cahoots with them the entire time.

Given the way every judgement so far has gone against Sisu i don't think the Tories would be wise to suddenly start backing them on the off chance they finally win in court.

Good to see an MP getting involved anyway, whether it helps get a stadium built or just builds the pressure to get us back to the Ricoh it's all headed in the right direction.

So they should not support it...so block it?

So to be clear, the Coventry Conservative party want any talks of a new stadium to be blocked or not supported...? What an odd stance

Rightful home - the one you all agreed to sell to somebody else. And continue to maintain it was the right decision.
Find another phrase because "rightful" is inappropriate in this context.

Interestingly, if they had gone for the exact opposite approach and backed the new stadium (if it is real), they might well have won a few more votes.

I am really giving up on politics these days, the obvious and logical ideas seem to be avoided every time.

Far more Tory votes to be won opposing football fans in south Cov than supporting it sadly. The line given here will be the standard thoughts of non Cov fan Tory voters in the area generally is imagine.

The HS2 line will be close by, and that's not going down too well with the locals is it?
There was also a bit about Dallas Burston polo club on the news recently, the owner was moaning about the construction traffic effects.

Their reasoning being that there are a lot of expensive houses with owners who vote conservative at Gibbet hill lane and nearby.
I think their supporters would be pretty fed up with the prospects of a stadium being built near their homes
