Could explain Fisher's statement of nearer city centre than Ricoh.
Warwicks cricket was played there for a while.
How would Sisu get around Cov Council though?

There is already outline planning permission for a new development on that site. Won't be there. I have heard rumours about land around Pro Logis near Kerseley though, although I suspect that is further from the city centre than the Ricoh. Who said it was closer to the city centre anyway? I thought the statement just said within 6 miles?

Site is a bit small again no parking an way to expand unless you buy the whole site and bulldoze it all.

Yes but they keep saying that they need the income from opening every day therefore they need land to do other projects a ground on its own will make nothing so would be better off at the Ricoh, they would have to pay for the day to day running of a building that is only used 20 odd times a year that is where HR came unstuck?

Would you even get planning permission to build within a mile of an empty ground?

Aren't these sites inside the city boundary? If so, non starters as council wouldn't give planning permission.
We should be clearer this evening. If Greg Dyke is there - come on Greg, put them in their place.

Not Courtaulds near Ricoh, the one where Warwickshire played cricket for a while, near Cash's lane.

Not necessarily. You don't need all those bells and whistles (indoor exhibition space etc) for it to be a viable venue for a football club. How many successful clubs out there with stadiums of 20K-30K capacity have the facilities the Ricoh does?

If you look at something like the Madejski - it doesn't have all the Ricoh bolt-ons, but it will have corporate facilities, meeting rooms, conference space, function rooms, bars and restaurants - so it will still be able to generate non-matchday revenues, as well as generating matchday revenues as well as there being no rent to pay. At the moment we get no matchday revenues, no non-matchday revenues and pay a handsome sum for the privilege (obviously going back pre-dispute).

They can buy as much land as they want within the City Council boundary but they are not going to get permission for a new football stadium plus with all the legal ranglings i.e. local residents going to court over and over to object etc it would take longer than 5 years from buying the land to having a fully functional stadium on it. It can only make sense that Brandon or Ryton are the only viable sites as I believe they come under Rugby.
I have a solution though, I hear there is a large stadium in Foleshill currently not being used, by all accounts it has all the facilities you would need and as luck would have it, its kitted out inside sky blue????? Might be worth a look or is that just a little too simple for muppets like SISU?

But the old cricket, inside city boundary? Surely council would knock that on the head.

It wouldn't, ultimately, be up to them. But yes, a silly idea regardless.

Lets hope all this bullshit that's going around in circles is sorted.
We can get back to playing football at the Ricoh.

There is no new site or stadium. Why do you waste your time on this pointless speculation?

There are 2 Courtaulds sites in Coventry up for development, one is at the bottom of Lockhurst lane where it meets Foleshill road. Just by the canal and runs all the way through to Stoney Stanton Road with the canal on one side. I believe this is the site Laborovich was talking about earlier this year. Planning permission for this site was passed a few years back, but was held up when they could not find a new site for EMR to move to.

With them looking at 2 sites, could Brandon be for the Acadamy?

Incidentally, this is also where there offices are currently running from. Make of that what you will

The cricket ground was on Lockhurst Lane behind the R&D labs and social club (In the days of Courtaulds).
Incidentally in the '60's the nets at Highfield Rd were made from man made fibre manufactured by Courtaulds.

The Brandon Site is not being brought for the main football stadium. It appears they have spotted a potential investment site, whilst looking for a site for the stadium.

No it's not too simply. I bet if you offered it to them for purchase they would buy it. :claping hands:

Of course they would just like the guy that bought Nene Park or how about the Kassam or Ketterings ground and all these teams have prospered haven't they?

Fisher & SiSu give the fans half truths & outright fibs about what they intend to do with club. SiSu wouldn't have got a profit on their investment so I'm not going to believe anything until it's actually right in front of me. No one has credibility in this shmozzle of a situation.

The new ticket office for CCFC. is 101 Lockhust Lane, which is the old Coutalds offices, (they are service offices), opposite the Subway shop.
They could buy the old Mercia Sporting Club, which used to belong to Coutalds, wear they used to play cricketing. The whole area is reasonably big, if they knocked down the club, pub and temple next to it.
Not a great position but does have main roads and closer to centre, but off M6 you drive past Ricoh first.

And hence why new ticket office is based there.
