I suspect found the council link that said you need to go to solohull for birth certificates. Clever and no future for sisu are not natural bedfellows.

I belive Grendel is not a city fan and told him that I knew he was not from Coventry, his reply was that he was born at the hospital on tamworth rd, "now a poor Hotel" his words. Well when he was born there it was not in coventry and what sort of person says "now a poor Hotel". Sorry to anybody who was born at Keresley hospital if I up set you, finding out you were born in Meriden/Solihull.

I had my tonsils out at Keresley Hospital, anyway I'm not sure if it was maternity hospital or not, but it's splitting hairs to say you're not from Coventry if you were born there, how stupid.

I was born there and had my tonsils out there when very young - so it was both. Picture of Prince Philip in the boys ward and the Queen for the girls ward ( tonsils not birth..). Still remember that. I count myself as from Coventry as 1. it now is Coventry and 2. it was the/ a maternity hospital for Coventry and I didn't have a lot of choice about it anyway...;-)

It's called Meriden.... and surely the Coventry area ( came under Soihull but it was still next to Cov. and is now Cov. ).

It is Cov now and we are Coventrians. Fact. If that makes us better fans is another question.

Yes, but they are playing home games in Nazareth. Problems with the Inn keeper and the stable charity. Trust broken because of extortionate rent or something.

I think the correct decision will be made, and Jesus will be set free.

I used to work at the Register Office. At the time when it was the main maternity hospital, Keresley Hospital actually came under the Solihull boundaries and not Coventry. I cannot remember when but it may be the 70's where the boundaries changed and it did become part of Coventry. It is now the Royal Court hotel and is just in our boundaries.

Fuck knows why you all give a fuck mind, you guys need to get out more!

Actually the Coventry boundaries were extended in 1932 and the hospital was then in the Coventry boundary having opened in 1929. It closed in 1968.

The significant part of this is in 1942 it bacame part of Coventry hospital as was Gulson Road and also Paybodys. Its a Coventry hospital.

If you don't believe me, go to the register office and ask to see their boundary map! When people phones to order their birth certificates we had to tell them to phone Solihull as we didn't have the records.

I think this has something to do with the initial boundaries when the hospital was founded. Either way it was a hospital for Coventry births from 1942.

Mine says Meriden - in 1955, but parents listed as living in Cov. As thousands of other Coventrians born at that time.

My older brother was born in Meriden. Kid brother at Walsgrave. I was born at home in Radford, sister at previous house on Humber Rd.

Question: Are we all from Cov? We do all support City, but are me and my sister mor entitled? (parents from Ireland, so may be disqualified by default)

Reading this thread I'm starting to think CCFC is a local club for local people. What's a Rugby lad like me to do? I'll have to leave supporting CCFC to my daughters, they were both born at Walsgrave.

I say a local club for local people but sisu have seen to that. In fact I'm more local than you Coventry lot now but I won't go to suxfields (other than the hill).

So that means that my Northampton born kids and nephew, although all three of them being Cov fans, have no entitlement to be so at all. Or is this allowed while we play in Northampton? This is very confusing I must say.

In 1929 Keresley Hall was converted into a convalescent hospital. It was named after John Alcock who left a large sum of money in his will. In 1942 it was made part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital. Keresley hospital finally closed in 1968. It is now the Royal Court Hotel. Meanwhile during the Second World War Keresley Grange was an RAF base.
