Is he going to fulfill his potential this year? Despite others' skepticism, I think he has all the makings of a fine player. Being dropped and the new manager may be exactly what he needed to push on.

We have people on here who love scapegoats, players to knock and slag and Conor Thomas fits their bill unfortunately as does Haynes, I think both could surprise

He's been a big disappointment, but at the same time, he's not as bad as some people have been portraying him on here.

Let's see how he plays this season. Sometimes you need the right players around you to bring out the best of your game.

I've stuck up for him loads in the past, but of late he has been very poor. I'm all for, new season, clean slate.

Agreed. You can't help but get the impression from some posters that they'd rather see them fail so they can say I told you so rather than see them raise their game and become a useful accomplished player.

Naturally some young up and coming players won't reach their potential and either fall by the wayside or end up in non/lower league football but there's no need to relish in it.

No mark supporters, bullies hiding behind their keyboards convinced they know better probably never played the game. Mowbray has a reputation making young players better and he will here I believe Conor Thomas has it in his locker to be one I believe and I have high hopes for young Haynes too

A player plays well he's rightly praised.
A player plays poor on a regular basis (not just CT applied to unfortunately too many that have played for CCFC) why can't they be critisced on social media & forums?

Rather people vent here than during a game?

I think Connor Thomas is utter tripe & has gone backwards at pace, I look forward to him proving me wrong so you can ram it back down my throat.

I didn't see many games the season before last as I was a Northampton boycotter, but in the games I did see I thought CT was excellent.

Last season wasn't a good one for him.

I hope with TM's help he'll bounce back.

Yep, I'd agree with that.

Personally I don't see Fleck has shown any more, for example, so to single Thomas out always seems unfair. The entire midfield were all rubbish last season and they could all easily be replaced based on last season. If they're still here, they deserve the clean slate to prove last season was the exception.

Of late Otis? I'm pretty sure we haven't seen him in about 5 months! Friendlies don't count.

He has a few limitations. Most players do. I think he's alright. No where near as bad as some make out. Confidence is also a big factor with CT I'd say.

Surely you have to take the managers way of wanting to play and for some strange reason Steven Pressley wanted two deep midfielders often Thomas and Fleck both went backwards form wise, Mowbray won't be doing that, Thomas as all the squad deserve a fresh start I doubt they will though

From what I've seen of him, he's not going to contribute in terms of scoring goals or much in the way of creativity. As a midfielder, that leaves the job of winning back possession, not giving the ball away too often, or marking their key midfielder out of the game. If he can do that (a la Lloyd McGrath) and fit into a midfield in that role, great. Otherwise, I don't see a long term role for him. Hope he does have a great season - never wish any of our players to perform badly, just so I can say 'told you so'.

No because St Johnstone wanted to sign Swanson. So the 1 year on his contract wasn't a problem, he is here because TM wants to have a look at him as his loan saw him starting to recapture his form. Whether he will do enough to stay or indeed want to stay is still open to discussion between TM and Swanson. Source TM in interview.

TM is saying to Connor Thomas, Maddison and George Thomas he likes what he has seen in training. Dangling the carrot, keep working hard the first team is within your reach.

it not all about new signings, it is about developing what we already have, making sure every member of the squad is on form and ready for when they are needed.

We need a new scapegoat now that Barton has gone.
We usually go for a midfielder who fails to tear around like a terrier at the beach so CT could be that man. As such he will go up in my estimation as scapegoating always hits my unfairness button and I respond by defending them.

Every season we have the same thing with Thomas, that he needs to step up and prove himself. Unfortunately it never seems to happen.

Not saying he is terrible but he doesn't seem to be developing. Hopefully under TM we might see an improvement, if not you have to wonder how many seasons he has left here.

He raises an Intriguing question as In, what style of midfielder did Liverpool think they were taking on loan?
I personally think he would benefit from a move.
He's played under four different managers now, two of them bringing In players for his position,Bailey and Vincelot.

Thomas has always had the physical attributes. He is tall, strong, athletic and fairly quick. Just in the 100ish games that he's played for us, he has never utilised them. For me, everyone gets a clean slate this season and I'd love to see him do well and prove the majority of us wrong but I don't see it happening unfortunately.

I'd lost a lot of patience with him too recently, but he's still here, it's a new season and we have a new manager and therefore a clean slate is very much in order I feel.

I'm sure if he doesn't do anything this season he will be gone anyway, so let's wait and see and give him our full backing while he's still here.

As I have said before he is not as bad as some make out but definitely has not lived up to his potential.
I think he will provide decent competition from bench if Fleck coasts or Vincelot disappoints.

Clean slate agree in my book not a first xi starter initially but coukd work his way in.
He has played 100 games so has enough experience to do a job!!

Agreed. He's a decent back up midfielder who can do a defensive job when required. I don't really see the negativity.

Connor has gone backwards since he played for us in the championship, he's not the scapegoat, I think he is criticized by fans because he has been poor. Tend to agree with an earlier poster what are his attributes, poor at passing and tackling and not a goalscorer either. Hopefully under TM he may regain his confidence but can't see how he can fit in with a midfield with the new defensive midfielder and fleck who gets a nose bleed if he goes too far forward

I think we will see Fleck playing further forward more often.

I hope so. He can strike a ball; we've seen it but not enough, and not successfully enough admittedly. However I'm hopeful we'll see him further up the pitch this season and getting rewards for it in goals

Never rated him, but good luck to the lad. Mowbray's no mug, if he does well he'll get a fair crack. If not, next year he'll be preseason training with the likes of Telford or Tamworth. He probably knows that and that's why he's come back well up for it.
