Yes it’s a big deal. Have we got him tied down to a long contract?

Huge news. America are well known for all the fantastic footballers they produce.

I assume USA pay for everything for him. Long trip for a kid who can't be on more than a few hundred a week.

Rudoni is also eligible/wants to play for the USMT (or whatever letters they use) if they can sort out the passport issue. Could be a little enclave.

He’s not actually eligible.

Not an expert but my understanding is that he meets FIFA's eligibility criteria (through an American grandfather). The issue was that he needed an American passport to compete at the olympics. I think that is US policy but they sometimes wave it for 'exceptional athletes'. Correct me if wrong. Here are his recent comments:

“I don’t know if there can be a way around it in the future. Hopefully there will, but I guess I will have to hold out and try to get into the England squad instead.”

He added: “My grandfather lives out in Monterey, California, and I have a lot of family over there, so he’s completely American and therefore I thought I would be able to get a passport. Maybe there’s a way around it in the future but right now I need to focus on my club football and when I get to the levels I know I can get to, whether it’s England or America, I am not sure. Maybe Haji (Wright) can put in a good word for me and sort it.”

He needs American citizenship to play for the country (as you do for any country) but he’s not entitled to it.

It’s great for the lad. Don’t know why some people need to be so miserable about things. Great that one of our better prospects is in the mix for internationals.
