What? You don’t think we should beat bottom of the league at home?

When I see a good performance from us, on a level to many last season and even more the previous years, I’ll praise it. But scraping past bottom of the league at home ain’t it.

Did you even go to the game? We should've comfortably scored 4 goals.

You're having a shocker today.

Poor recruitment is one of the problems you mentioned that’s stopping us being a top six side.

Yeah and we should have got 2 or 3 at WBA, we’ve had great xG all season. Aren’t we third or something in the xG league?

No it isn't. I said we are missing a few key additions. Getting majority right doesn't mean poor recruitment to me.

It's not like we didn't try. Life doesn't always work out perfectly

If you’ve spent £45m and are still missing a few key additions your recruitment has been poor. We’ve overspent on a lot of OK players. That’s poor recruitment. It’s meant we are short experience and quality that stops us being a top six side. £45m for mid table isn’t good.

Seaosns not over is it? That's why king replaced robins who he thought should be doing better

You called for robins head after Derby so you can understand what king was thinking too

Gonna be hard for lampard to get playoffs with a poor start but it's still possible. Season could yet get exciting.

But the argument all season has been we should have been scoring more and therefore winning games we lost or turning games we narrowly won into full your boots wins.

Not sure you can take beating an appalling bottom of the league side 2-1 at home as a sign of any particular improvement on the basis that we should have scored more.

Just seems to be more of the same to me.

No I didn’t. You’ve misheard this off someone else and I’ve corrected you before.

I know why King sacked Robins, so far I’m not seeing this huge step change a new manager has made to these players. I still think this group needs 3-4 new faces in, which you seem to accept.

I just don't really understand how you can come to that conclusion though.

Individually, players looked much better and there were actual recognisable patterns of play and a style they were looking to execute.

Yes, it was against a side which are obviously in free fall but if you compare the performance to those against struggling sides we've come up against recently like QPR or Preston it's much improved.

It's not a huge step. No one is saying it is. People are saying they are noticing small things which are making us better on the whole.

It's petty to say only justification robins shud be sacked is if new manager comes on and drastically changes everything and we win every game.

Ive not said that either. I’ve said that I’ve seen some good stuff and some not so good stuff and results have been about as I expected. I don’t think with this squad results as expected gets us top six over a season.

Ok in which case maybe it's a season where we finish top half or close to playoffs like the season before we got league 1 promotion.

It's a good spot to be in when you are down to needing 3-4 in and most of squad can stay as it is

There's still a lot to be worked on. But I don't believe anyone on here would say any different.

The defence is still a massive concern. We somehow have a knack of conceding goals or chances from not all that dangerous situations and that didn't change yesterday.

But take it for what it is. It's an encouraging performance and something to build on.

The point is and I accept this is a point of faith, I’d have backed robins to get more out of this squad over the long term. Well never know because I think what was missing was the key ingredients for the squad not a new manager and well likely get those anyway. I hope Lampard can too.

I understand that and I won't say he wouldn't because he's mark fucking robins end of the day

But he change has been made and so far I am seeing good stuff from lampard and long may it continue.

We are not as bad a side as many make us out to be. But we still have the same two problems. Wasteful in front of goal and keep giving away soft goals.

But under Lampard we're getting more bodies in the box and closer to the goal. If we can improve on either of soft goals against or being wasteful in front of goal our results will improve. If we improve on both we would become very hard to beat.

Yeah I think we’ll see the opposite of Robins: more attacking and better at it, but more porous at the back in return. The unknown for me is can he get the players putting in Fulham 4-1 type performances or whatever.

Last season, we had some great performances v Leicester, Leeds and Southampton. The issue was more playing the teams around us like PNE, Norwich, WBA and so on. We lost just about every 6 pointer last season home or away. Our record against top half teams cost us a playoff spot.

This season has been that we concede first against just about everyone and that’s why we’ve struggled to get results. When we score first, we’ve only lost once and that trend was pretty consistent under MR throughout his tenure. Generally speaking, the team that scores the first goal will tend to win the game which is why that particular stat is so important.

I don't really know what you expected in such few games though? It takes more than four games to re-instil confidence and it also takes time to become accustomed to a new management team's way of doing things, even more so for a group of players which lack belief.

I think once we get the December fixtures out the way we'll start seeing a much improved side overall.

Granted defensively we obviously need further support as certain individuals aren't good enough.

Lol you did say it man

Just say you were angry at loss but in hindsight didn't really mean it.

I said before he went that whilst I didn't want himbe sacked I wouldn't be distraught like I once thought I would be the day he went. And it ended up like that

This.

But on here after every defeat, no matter how unfortunate, there's been a hysterical meltdown. We really aren't far off, and with better fortune (literally just a couple of results) we could easily have been knocking on the door of the playoffs now.

Just a couple of astute additions needed. For me, a top left back could transform this team.

We've also got to factor in that the players had months under the tactical instruction of a horrendously inept coaching team.

Along with implementing a new style and getting players to learn their individual roles within a fresh system, there's probably quite a bit of unlearning to be done as well by FL, Edwards and Jones.

No it just wasn't going right and was a bad moment. Hurt less than it would have had we been higher in table and playing well like a Birmingham Eustace Rooney situation.

Quite puzzled by the way the Derby defeat seems to have gone into SBT folklore as one the worst performances ever. Yes it was poor and disappointing, and it triggered Robins’ demise. But for me, it fits into the pattern of much of the season – chances spurned, goals given away, points unfortunately lost. We struggled to break them down, but the two they scored were complete freaks weren’t they?

Tactically, it was appalling.

Sakamoto was played central, a position he struggles in anyway and Robins didn't think to change it sooner even though Adams was basically doing nothing but man mark him all game, completely stifling him.

The Rudoni left back experiment came to a crashing end.

Our shape was completely all over the place until Robins finally changed things but it was too little too late.

Need I go on.

I said it was poor and disappointing, it just wasn't the all-time low it has become in some people's imaginations.

The fact is Derby scored twice having had one shot on target, and even with the scrappy performance we should have had three points.
