I think I must be watching a different team. the number of times we had people open for a quick pass from the keeper to get an attacking move going only for Collins to ignore them really frustrates me. As does the frequency with which we have a player stood waiting to take a throw looking round for anyone to make themselves available.

This. I desperately hope we haven't made a mistake and Lampard can lead us to the promised land but the 'everything Robins did was shit', 'Lampard has changed the entire club for the better' narrative some people seem to want to push is just bizzare.

It is possible to say we had a brilliant few years under Robins and he totally turned the club round but still want Lampard to succeed and giving him praise where due. We've gone from people saying the season is a write off and the best we can hope for is staying up to people saying we're in play off form after we beat Hull at home

Keeper and cbs just drawing the press. Had a lot of success first half drawing them in and then shifting to the wings

I actually quite Lampard so far but I wouldn’t say there has been a drastic improvement. We’ve played two shit teams, a team who were missing their first choice defence and striker and an admittedly pretty decent West Brom side.

But there are posters who down on lampard for no reason too

You reacted with laughing emojis when I said to trust the process at half time Vs hull after all...

Its mental. He’s getting praise for stuff he hasn’t changed. The desperation is something to behold on here. The match thread yesterday literally had people giving it the “change it robins” joke FFS. Praise for Haji Wright getting injured as well. Just bananas. some formerly quite sensible posters are really making themselves look silly.

Lampard himself is advocating a 'one game at a time' approach and I'm totally on board with that and think everyone should be really .

We're not promotion candidates after yesterday same as,we weren't relegation candidates after Wednesday.

One game at a time and let's see where it takes us.

It’s four games and we’ve done pretty much as expected (can fact check this cos I made a first five game prediction and we’re bang on track). I would also expect us to pick up a lot of points from the next five. That’s just the way the fixtures run.

Theres green shoots, there’s also things that don’t look like they’re improving. Im just hoping we put a run of wins together over this period and the confidence boost does the rest.

The one thing I will definitely say is the players will be getting the highest level of coaching they've ever had here as the guys that have come in are far and beyond what was here previous in terms of coaching

That can only be a positive

Yeah tbh the thing I was most excited about with Lampard's appointment was Edwards and Jones coming in.

Well it might be that the speed was glacial before and has at least moved up a couple of notches, but the endless dithering has largely gone.

We fans underate just how good footballers are at controlling the ball under pressure with the chest in particular and then finding a player in the same coloured shirt. I saw Da Silva (of whom I am no fan), MVE and EMC all do this from a Collins diagonal drifted long pass and then get an attack going from around half way. I am not sure such a 60-40 option would have been the practice under the more deliberate Robins. I was forever shouting 'quicker' in frustration

What? You don’t think we should beat bottom of the league at home?

When I see a good performance from us, on a level to many last season and even more the previous years, I’ll praise it. But scraping past bottom of the league at home ain’t it.

Not if he's a shit manager and we have shit recruitment like so many say???? You can't have it both ways

I've never flip flopped from my view. I loved robins. I don't think the squad is bad. I see potential in lampard. I'm happy with what I've seen so far

Yesterday was a good performance and it wasn't a scraped win at all, should have been a greater margin.

Ive not seen anything to suggest the squad isn’t poor tbh. I don’t think we’ve played particularly well under Lampard yet. I’d argue our best performances this season have been under Robins and maybe Carr, but even they were just average performances from these players last year.

At the very least I’d like to see us hit the heights of last season before declaring Super Frank the worlds greatest coach.

We won 2-1. It should have been, but so should many games this season, but we did what we always do and gift a goal and miss our chances combined with a lot of not very threatening possession. It wasn’t close to a Derby or whatever, but it wasn’t great against frankly the worst side I’ve seen all season.

I'm trying to remember all of these sparkling home performances under Robins where we swept teams aside. We won games most often by the odd goal, which is perfectly fine.

We won 9 of 23 home games last season.

We won 11 of 23 home games in the play off season. 7 of which were by a single goal.

Would you say yesterday was better than Wolves or Man Utd? I’d not even put it above Boro this season or Sheff Utd.

We looked good in bits, our attacking play is coming on, but we still needed 3.18 xG to score and still conceded basically out xG. First half we were dominant and went in losing. Second half was much more even weirdly enough.

Maybe you mean you hope to win. Because there is no way any sane person can expect to win when they see so many problems with the club

Problems at a top six club don’t make it a bottom six club.

I don't think we did the double over a single one of the bottom 5 last season. It's a hard league and our default this season has been fairly poor. We're improving but expecting to go on a huge unbeaten run would be some going, as nice as it would be.
Personally I'd take 1 game at a time. I'd like a win at Pompey but an away point isn't to be sniffed at and they've taken from better teams than us already.

The United and Wolves games are irrelevant to how we have done in a common or garden home match in the league

No recruitment has been poor VFM and were going to rely on MvE and Simms doing a 180 to rescue any profit.

You can expect it as I'm not sure what your or I expect matters one jot. Personally I'd just like to see more of what I've been seeing. If it leads to a win then great, if we play ok and come away with an away point, it's alright for me.

Im trying to say four games in and I’ve seen some good things and some not so good things and it’s too early to call because results have been about what I’d expect.
