Does anyone know why is there no commentary for away games on ifollow?

There was Clive and oggy until the recent lockdown , then bbc stopped their commentators travelling. A couple of matches have had a neutral comment or instead. If you get no commentary you can always switch to home commentary.

Clive and Oggy dont travel to away games because of lockdown rules. They commentate from home using ifollow pictures as their visual. They have commentary on CWR but it will be slightly behind time as they're commentating from ifollow pictures which are a min or so behind time so they would in turn be a min or so behind time on our picture.

BBC rules are a bit weird, local radio unable to report domestic games while 5 Live sends commentators and two pundits to Bucharest watching Chelsea

I agree and I have now turned all commentary off iFollow. The away commentary is dire and usually incredibly biased. I prefer just to watch the game and formulate my own opinion. I still find it incredibly stressful , far more than attending the games in person.

I prefer it without commentary also. Love listening to the random shouts.

Apologies for being a bit dim but how do you change the commentary please.

under settings you can toggle between Home and Away. Saturday’s co-commentator at Ewood Park was hilarious - he kept screaming “oh no” every time we attacked in the second half and thought Biamou had been a threat all game.

Oggy is virtually illiterate and the commentariat dreadful. Far better with just ambient noise.

I’ve watched a couple of games without commentary and liked it but on the whole have enjoyed listening to the away commentators and found them not to be particularly biased. Often refreshingly honest. I seem to remember Middlesbrough’s being good...although I’ve watched so many games this year they’ve all merged into one.
I’ve really enjoyed Oggy’s dulcet tones and he often makes me look like a tactical genius as he regularly makes the same comments as me about a match, just after I’ve said them! Although he uses his dulcet tones, while I’m screaming at the telly!

I must admit that I enjoy Oggy’s insight, and although Clive makes mistakes, I think he’s ok. I also like the fact that they’re pretty unbiased, even handed. I missed the commentary on Saturday, but each to their own. Generally I have found away commentators to be ok, and not too biased. The big exception was at Norwich where the guy hardly mentioned Cov, was totally focused on how good Norwich were, even though we outplayed them in the second half. He was horrendous.

What does being illiterate have to do with commentary?
Must be just me that can’t stand it with no commentary. Might be better if there was a crowd. But as it is, random shouts and mostly quiet just feels wrong!

I noticed those pricks doing the Blackburn commentary barely celebrated when they scored. It was really strange.

That's one thing I like about CWR. They might be massively overreacting sometimes (I'm looking at you Clive), but when a goal goes in there is normally some kind of shouting and screaming.

The La Liga Santander commentary on YouTube is the best though. They stream all the games on there and the neutral commentators go mad. The other day I was watching a match and the commentator was screaming 'Goaaaaaaaaalll' for about three minutes. He was still going when the other team then scored. Hahaha.

I didn't know that Oggy is illiterate but I think it's great that despite that he's had a great career in football and is now ending it as a commentator. Dyslexia I presume? He'd have had it hard at school as it wasn't recognised back then. Fair play to him.

They sounded absolutely downtrodden didn't they? Sounded like they knew it was inevitable when we scored too. If Mowbray has managed to even suck the passion out of the commentators you can see why so many fans are unhappy!

The Blackburn commentary was just for ifollow wasn't it. Presume either the game wasn't on local radio or they don't have rights to use it.

When you hear some of the other commentators makes you realise Clive and Oggy are pretty decent!

hmmm. I have to say I think Oggy is pretty good as a summariser and notices and comments on a lot of tactical developments that most local radio football commentary would miss.

That said, I would have thought that if you had a surname that so many people struggled to say for so long during your career (Ogrizovic) and a son-in-law (and grandchildren) called Edjungele you might be a bit more careful about how names are supposed to be pronounced.

I think Oggy is good and seems to have lots of good insights which some former players don't. Having said that I don't mind not having commentary. It's not like we have any when we are in the ground.

Got to agree with many, I'm pro-Oggy. When they announced he'd be the permanent co-commentator, I thought it would be terrible. He's provided good insight on a number of occasions that fans wouldn't necessarily think about, certainly me anyway, but I'm not an expecially high bar! I find his knowledge of opposition players and their strengths and weaknesses pretty good too. It's clear he works hard on his research.

No no, I don’t think he is! I was just responding to the comment above because I think commentary (speaking) could be done without being literate (reading and writing)!

Mine has started working on the TV web browser which it never used to. Oddly my Dad has the same brand TV with the same OS, even the same version, as mine and nothing but a blank screen so a bit hit and miss but worth a try.

Owen Jones, Brendan O’Neill, those sorts of people. He’s right, they’re dreadful.
